I haven't posted in a few months, in part because I've been gaining weight instead of losing it. To be honest, I kind of gave up over the holidays, and I'm still having a hard time getting back to it. I'm up to 194.4. Yuck. A few weeks ago, I set the goal to be down to 175 by early May, when my husband is *finally* done with school. (I want to look decent in those graduation pictures!) I'm not sure how realistic that is now, but I'll re-evaluate in a few weeks and see what is feasible then.

TexasSugar: There's no reason you can't still try to lose weight before you're actually pregnant. And once you do get pregnant, you can still exercise (at your normal levels, if you have the energy!) and eat healthfully.

With my first two kids, I gained a normal amount of weight during pregnancy, but it was afterward -- while I was nursing -- that I really packed it on. Everyone always says that nursing helps you lose weight, but for me, it was the opposite, mostly because I was hungry all. the. time.

However, with Baby #3 (who is now 18 months), it was different. I got pregnant when I was at my heaviest (220). I was pretty sick the first few months and lost several pounds, and then when I felt better, for some reason I didn't crave sweets like I had before. As of the day before my baby was born, at full-term, I had only gained 8 pounds. And since she weighed 8.5 lbs, I count it as a net weight loss! My doctor never seemed concerned about my lack of weight gain -- I guess he knew as well as I did that my baby had *plenty* of calories available to her! I didn't weigh myself again until my six-week check-up, and by then I was at 208. That gave me hope! So I set a goal to not gain weight while nursing. I wasn't trying to lose any, just trying to not gain. Well, the weight started falling off. It was amazing...I just wish it had continued when I quit nursing! At my lowest, I was down to 170. Unfortunately, I have had a much harder time keeping it off. But the point is, pregnancy is not necessarily an end-all to weight loss. It can even help!

Wow, I just wrote a book. Sorry. icon_redface.gif

Biz, awesome job on the 4lbs! icon_smile.gif

Saffronica, 20lbs in 4 months (counting Feb to May) would be 5lbs a month, so just over a lb a week. Which I think is a very realistic goal. You can do it!

I'm at 176.8 this morning. Last official weigh in I did was on the 6th where I weighed 179.8. So that means I'm down 3lbs for Jan so far.

This weekend I plan to do some more freezer cooking, with chicken and turkey. Then I will sit down and do a menu plan for the next two weeks.

Right now I'm trying to focus on changing habits in a way that works for me and that I think will work in the long run. While I know I can weight food and do a strict calorie count for every meal, experince has also told me that I only stick to that for so long.

These changes are in all parts of my life, based off ways that I think will continue to work best for me. Hopefully I will find the right combinations for them.

Oh and Saffronica, never been sorry for writing a 'book' as a post, says the queen of novel size posts!

I appreciate that you took the time to write and share that with me. I'm hoping that I will be able to keep the weight gain down (in a healthy way) while pregnant, and that afterward I will be able to get to the size I wanted to be. It is nice to hear from those that have experinced it and had good outcomes.

So how did everyone's weekend go?

Mine went okay, though I was lacking some motivation to get everything I needed done. I did get most of the freezer cooking that I wanted to do done. Still want to do a few breakfast things. Now I just need to clean out and rearrange the freezer so I can easily find everything. Next time I need to do the clean out step first. HeHe.

Tonight I will finish dealing with the freezer also including making a list of what is in there, finish up my menu plan, and lay everything out to get started practicing for the new Wilton Course 4 I start teaching in 2 weeks.

oh I didn't you know you taught Wilton courses, cool. OK, I was bad, I'm an emotional eater and there are some familial medical concerns for my Mom hom I adore so i cooked up a storm. The good news is I only gained a 1/4 of a pound cos when nervous, i can't stand still. started the week to a good start, trying a new recipe for a friend's birthday (Yes, I can take a small bite to taste test-I usually, take some of the batter and do a very small muffin to taste test. Have a great week everyone!

Yep I do! And for the most part enjoy it. It is great extra money for me. Right now the money I make teaching is going straight into savings. icon_smile.gif

I totally understand the emotional eating thing. I also enjoy baking and cooking. What I tend to do though, when I want to bake something is bring it to work and let the guys eat it. I have a sign on my desk that says: Diet Tip: If you fatten up everyone around you, you will look thinner. Hehe.

I'm back up to 178 this morning. I've had salty the last few days so maybe that is it. Maybe not.

How is everyone else doing?

TexasSugar- I'm pretty sure that if you've had alot of salt then that is the reason for your gain.

I still haven't gotten to Weight Watchers to weigh in since I still can't drive. I'm hoping to have the energy and a ride to get there Monday night. I'm sure I've lost quite a bit though, because I have been having some digestive problems and have not had much of an appetite and haven't been able to force enough food down my throat. I know that's not a healthy way to lose weight, and trust me, it is killing me because I love to eat. That's also part of why I am so hesitant to go weigh in again.

bad, bad, bad, LOL stressed out, gained 2, lost 1 of the 2, so 1, back on track today. It's a miracle I did not gain 10 lbs since everything my sister and I cooked looked like fare for a diet to put on the lbs!

I was back up to 179 Friday. :-/

How is everyone else doing?

Did you have a good weekend?

Mine was not near long enough. Did a demo at Michaels for the new course, so I was up late Friday night making flowers and flower parts to work on during the demo. Finished it and then went home and crashed for a while, then had another busy, but not productive enough day yesterday.

Tonight I teach my first lesson of the new Wilton Course 4, then I also teach two other courses the next two nights. My Feb will be busy with three long days in a row at the first of the week.

Friday I did the medical part of my life insurance appliacation, so now I'm just waiting to see what happens next with that.

Too late to join this group? I turned 39 last Friday and have put off going to the doc. for a few years. Decided before I turn 40 and am really depressed, I am taking this year to make changes for the better so I can ring in 40 next year with joyous celebration.

Went to the doc. this morning as a new patient. Although I've never really had any health problems in the past I am suddenly on high blood pressure medication, the doc. is looking for damage to my kidneys from having this undiagnosed for some time, and I have to go Monday for a scan of my left leg for significant unilateral swelling.

I am only 39. 5' 5" and weigh a surprising 183 pounds. Okay so it really wasn't a surprise for me, but definitely a reality check. I have a 5 year old and hubby. I need to be in better shape for myself and for them.

I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks for results from today's lab work-up and Monday's scan. I would love to go back weighing less. Then I have to go back repeatedly over the next few months. I would like to return each time with a weight loss. Future goal, NO PILLS!

Weighed this morning fully dressed with sneakers 179! Could be fat loss, but probably water due to this new blood pressure pill. Either way, pants are more comfy around waist! Have 10 more days before my follow-up appointment and would love to lose 2 more pounds before then.
Leg gets scanned in a few hours for clots and poor circulation. Hoping for the best there. Still have headaches. Not good. If they don't go away with this blood pressure pill, doc. wants the head scanned. Not good. Wish me luck.

I have "gorgeous veins" according to the radiologist!!! No narrowing, no clots - YEAH!! The med is helping finally. Yesterday I felt better than I have in a very very long time. Today also no headache! After all this stress and worry it was something so easily fixed with a little medication. Now, to continue eating smarter, losing fat and build some muscle mass maybe I can get rid of this medication. I am on cloud 9 right now!

To BizCoCos,

Good news all around! Well the ol' BP isn't regulated properly yet, but still working on it. Another Dr.'s appt tomorrow. However I am down 3 more pounds!! Not certain how, but I'll take it.

I know it was many days ago now, but I took my first real walk in a loooooong time (about 1.3 miles or so) on Sunday morning. Today is Wednesday. I should make it a habit, but it was so warm and pretty Sunday morning and so cold since. When it warms more in the AM I will make it a habit to get out more.

Now to go make cakes, icings, and fillings...Why do we do it to ourselves? WE LOVE IT!

Hello Everyone!

Wow, I don't even want to think about how long it's been since I've been to this thread! My weight is back up and I'm having a hard time staying motivated. Same old story!
I'm 5'2" and I weighed 202 3/4 this morning. Yuck...My long term goal is to lose 50 pounds by December 5th - that's my 50th birthday! I don't want to hit 50 looking and feeling like this. I want to be in the best shape of my life when I turn 50. But wanting it and actually putting in the work to get there are two very different things!
I know that I need to journal my food and really step up the exercise. Now I just have to put all of that into action. I'm counting on being back with y'all will really help me get back on track. It feels good to be back!

I understand what a pain to be reaching a certain age and not be the weight you want, we share a bday, December 5th and every year I say the same thing, for me, if i don't exercise, the weight does not come off, so this year, every day i do some kind of exercise. good luck, this group is great for moral support.

Hey Monkeys! How are things going?

I went to the DR this week, found out my Cholesterol is a lot higher than he'd like it to be, and my blood pressure is slightly high as well.

I will have to try to manage both of them by diet for the next 8 plus months since he can't put me on any cholesterol medicines while I'm pregnant. icon_wink.gif
