my cakes are no where near the level of those shown by people on this post so won't show myself up, i would like to add that i love this website and the forums but i must argree that some peoples comments to a simple question are just not necessary i had someone correct my spelling once it really make you reluctant to post again
i apologise if there are spelling errors in this post lol
LOL! I agree Mandy!
The cakes being posted on this thread are amazing labors of love! Keep 'em coming!!!
I'm glad we got past that first round of problems and started getting to the cakes!!! These cakes are amazing. Please post your pictures even if you do not think your cakes are up to the level of others. Its all about the time you put in and the love you put into the cake.
Fondantgirl...WOW. That is all I have to say. How many hours did the cake with the shells take you? I love your use of the colors and shimmer.

Mandy I know how you feel. I just did my first labor of love cake (first cake I really tried at all) and it just could have been way better. My family of course loved it and thought it was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen (but this is coming from Sam's Club Cake buyers lol). I am making two cakes for my cousins next month; hopefully they will be nice enough to inspire me to post some pics OAN everyone has posted some very beautiful cakes and I enjoyed viewing each one
Coral3 your work is soooooo wonderful! Not to take away from any one part, as it all is great, but.......
your tree is *super*!

Thank you
The shells were fondant using chocolate molds.. it is those fishes that took the longest.. Instructions on that are on Kerry Vincent'sbook, Romantic Wedding CAkes..

If your family or friend loved it and it made them happy, that's all that matters. U made someone very happy..
patjobes said: you all have such beautifull cakes and are all so talented that i dont want to show mine..........
You have *nothing* to be ashamed about - your work is awesome!
I am new to CC and I ahve enjoyed seeing everyones cakes, and getting ideas from my cakes. I am with OP on this conversation. When you do a cake for a family member and some ask well how much will a cake like that go for. You ask them what do you think. You could not find this quailty of cake at walmart or local grocery store. we are here to share each others thoughts and pictures not argue if you are licensed or not she was simply saying that sometimes our "love" cakes we put more into them because they are for some one we care about
To go with the original post of op wanting us to show cakes here is my heart cake

This was for a dear friend & co-worker's birthday. All of my cakes take hours to complete because I'm so dang slow (and picky) but this one was a stand-out in my mind for how long it took.
I don't tell people they can't afford my cakes - my husband does!
Sorry, I guess I don't know how to post pics. It is one of the bible cakes in my pics (it's the first on I did - Iris' Bible Cake.)
wow....you know it's really a shame, and I know this is said in other posts, but it's a shame that when people post simple questions or ask for input, "are you legal" is the first thing that comes up! Who cares!
I didn't get anything negative or snooty about OP's post. I could tell just from reading that she said it in a loving, joking manner. To just assume she said it with her nose up in the air is just uncalled for and your nose must be in the air, too. JMHO
WELL SAID! i understood OP's post as well, and i get where the others are coming from but instead of correcting OP..how about just answering their question!
Here's mine! It was for my daughters 2nd birthday, talk about going overboard!
And just FYI to the OP I totally understood and "got" what you were saying right away!

OP - Thanks for starting such a great - positive thread! What a pleasure to catch a glimpse of the love that so often goes into this art form.
30 years ago my DD was three and loved Sesame Street. I hadn't baked much, and had never seen any 3D cakes; bought a Wilton Big Bird pan (only his head) and decided to try to make him more realistic. Baked a whole lotta cake and made a 2D body and legs ... the cake filled an entire picnic table...Took me forever and it looked pretty goofy but my daughter adored it and we ate cake for a weeks...
What great cakes on this thread..Thank you to the OP for this one. I did this one for my nephew, he loved it and I had a great time making it. I think the hooka was my favorite part...I thought I was gonna go blind trying to pipe the royal on it

Keep on baking and caking everybody...
Thank you mommynana...I had to do some research on Jabba and get it right because my nephew is a Star Wars/Clone Wars fan...But he was sooo happy....all worth it
