Everyone in Virginia knows that the "Cottage Food Law" was passed back in 2008. Yaaay!! But for some of us this Bill does not apply. I've made a few calls and now have the names of the cities in Hampton Roads that DO and DO NOT allow food processing from a residence. So even though we have this bill, the cities that have an ordinace stating "no food processsing" from a residence can not bake and sell from our homes, no matter what!!!!! It's very unfair and I intend to do something about it. I've already contacted my City Council about it, maybe you can too!!

Here are the cities,
NO~YOU CAN'T BAKE AND SELL FROM YOUR HOME
YES~ YOU CAN

Norfolk~ NO
Virginia Beach~ Yes
Chesapeake~ Yes
Portsmouth~ No
Suffolk~ No
Newport News~Yes
Hampton~No
Yorktown~Yes
Williamsburg~Yes

Hope this helps everyone in Hampton Roads!!

I'm shocked that Suffolk is a "no." I *know* there are people there that can their own products and sell them. You can just drive down some areas and see the signs. icon_smile.gif If I were closer, I'd be happy to come give a hand.
