Thank you all so very much!! You are too kind!
Ok, gonna post it here since this is running....made Sharons bc 2 days ago and I love how it feels and its so smooth....I tinted it and its on its 2nd day of tinting....I need a dark purple and dark bright pink.
I added 4 toothpics of each color into each container, and its real light in color, like a pastel, then I added electric americolors about 4-5 drops, let it sit again and its still very very light!!!! need to decorate cake today.....
ANY IDEAS?
Dark colors are pretty tough to get and take a lot of food coloring. I'd just keep adding more until you get the color you want (unless you have an airbrush). I've been debating buying an airbrush to save me the hastle of tinting dark colors for BC and fondant. I haven't committed to it yet though![]()
yes, I agree with Silly. It takes a lot of color to get a dark color.
Yup, it sure does!!! Thanks to Sharon being sweet and answering a pvt. message on it...I was afraid of the bitter taste, Ive always been told to watch out for that. But I got my deeper purple, doesnt look pastel.
And yes, I do have an airbrush, BUT....my wonderful dingy daughter of 17yrs says mom, DO NOT Airbrush! I dont like that look...lol
The cake is for her 1yr old...Isabella is a NICU baby...tiny 15lbs, and in size 0-3mos cloths and gonna be 1yr old...cant even eat cake at her party tomm...she is on g button feeds.
But after open heart and Esophogael Atresia, and Tracheo Espo. surgeries, we are thankful to be having this party!!!!
And since Im new to Sharons recipe, I havent mastered the art of a clean smooth...but my daughter saw what cakes Ive done, and she was it looks good to me mom! lol, my baby girl is BLIND TOO!!! lol!!! There's not a smooth side on it! IM TRYING SHARON, PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND PRACTICE!!!! just not the first time out the door using your recipe.
The Perfecting the Art of Buttercream is amazing. Having just attended the 4 week Wilton course 1, I swear I learned more about smoothing and frosting, with the DVD, more than in the class. I start my fondant class tonight.
I'd rather be frosting a cake right now, than working from home right now. Once I get the hi ratio shortening and coffee creamer, I'm making everyone leave the kitchen, oh, and the impression mat, I'm making everyone leave the kitchen. lol...and I'm getting a whole roll of smooth Viva paper towels.
Thanks everyone for this post. I think Sharon is AWESOME and have been wanting to get some of her DVDs. I've been playing with fondant for so long that my buttercream skills are lacking.
You guys have me convinced! Think I will order something -- pulling out the debit card now. ha !! ![]()
