I have someone wanting a fire engine cake for grooms cake next year. I see all your beautiful fire engine cakes on here. I want it 3D and off the board looking like a real fire engine. What I would like help with is what is used for the base or platform of the cake. I thought of really thin wood with Dowel rods through it for tires. If anyone has any hints, directions or tips I would love them! Thanks so much!

I think I read somewhere that some one got a stryofoam base smaller than the cake board the vehicle was on, and spray painted it black so it didnt show up, glued it to the cake board, put the cake on the board, and anchor the wheels with dowels

Good luck.
