So I'm going to be making a 3D microphone for a cake. I got a chocolate candy mold and used dark chocolate candy melts (i couldn't find black). Now what I'm wanting to know is, I bought some of the Wilton Black Color Mist spray. Can I use this on the chocolate and does anyone know if it will dry? I'm going to be adding some fondant accents and I don't want fingerprints on it, lol..... If this wont work, does anyone have some suggestions?
Jeannem is right. (Hi Jeanne!) The spray will bead up on the chocolate.
I agree with VickeyC, you can make it out of fondant. However, I wouldn't spray the mold with anything. That will just increase the risk of fingerprints.
OR --- you can cover your chocolate mike with fondant. Use a little piping gel as glue. I do this when I need the firmness of chocolate, but the look of fondant. (See the ladybug in my pics for an example).
There is another thread regarding basically this same ? that I replied to last night.
Trying to remember back some 15-20 yrs ago - Francis Kuyper (*THE CakeLady*) used the airbrush to color white choco panels. As I remember she would spray them 1st with something like Baker's Joy, wipe them lightly w/a paper towel then airbursh.
Why dosen't someone try this out the report back to the masses. (I no longer have an airbrush or I would.)
