Has anyone made an Irish cream cake before? Did you use vanilla cake and irish cream filling? or chocolate cake? or any other combo that worked well?
Thanks
Dina

YUM. Ive made this with the Irish cream (used Bailey's) and oh wow....
I have done a Khalua chocolate cake with Irish Cream Bettercreme filling and also Chcolate Stout cake with Irish Cream Bettercreme filling and Irish Cream buttercream frosting. Both were very popular.
moranda, can you share the recipe for the chocolate khalua cake? it sounds really good
The chocolate cake was very simple. I started with my standard enhanced cake recipe and added Khalua.
1 chocolate cake mix
1 sm package instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 cup sourcream
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water (this is where I substituted Khalua)
Mix well and bake, this is a thick batter and takes longer to bake than usual. Makes enough to fill two 6 in x 3 in pans. I always sue bake even strips and it takes about 50-60 minutes at 350. I check after 50 and then added 5 minute increments until tests done.
For the irish cream filling I mixed
1 cup liquid bettercream
1/2 package white chocolate pudding (add 5-7 tablespoons of Irish Cream to make paste)
Whip bettercream and pudding mix to mouse consistency.
You can substitute Pastry Pride or heavy whipping cream for the bettercream but whipping cream is not shelf stable and therefore the filling and cake would have to be refrigerated.
For the irish cream mousse I use:
1 cup liquid bettercream
1 small package instant vanilla pudding
1/2 cup Irish Cream Sugar Free Coffee Flavoring Syrup
Whip all in mixer using wisk blade until thick.
More recipes for me to try. I believe that I'm getting addicted to this website and to cake making. Everytime I sign on, I get all excited about my next cake,
