Does anyone own the Wrapped Cake DVD? What do you think of it? What are the recipes like?

I soooo want to get it (maybe I can drop some hints to the boyfriend hehe) but can't find any reviews whatsoever.
All input greatly appreciated ![]()
Yes, I own it. What do I think of it? I LOVE it!!! Richard is a great teacher and the cakes are fabulous. He has two DVDs that compliment each other -- Gift Wrapped Cakes and Extraordinary Stripes. Both are well worth the $$$. ![]()
You know, he dropped the price on both of them -- I'd get them both while the price is right!
oops watched them backwards. Good thing that I bought both dvd's. These are some real High End decorating techniques, no wonder they so spectacular!
He uses Confectioners Candy coating for his modeling chocolate. Merkins has a super white I think, and it taste ok.
I also noticed that he had one of the round acrylic 'ganache' boards under his cardboard. Must make it easier to handle the cake. He must charge a mint$$ for these beauties.
I recently bought the Extraordinary Stripes and am really happy that I did. The one thing that was disappointing was he didn't really say what chocolate he used so I tried to find the type he suggested. Didn't work. I sent him an email asking what he used and he responded the same day! He said they use Guittard Vanilla Apeels exclusively but that Mercken's Super White (not to be confused with Mercken's White) will also work. So I have an order in that should arrive soon and I'm anxious to try it again!
