Can anyone tell me how to get gray buttercream I need it for a r2d2 cake

Tiny amount of black coloring

Black food coloring mixed with white (buttercream or fondant, etc.) makes grey.

sometimes using black it turns greenish. i had a student once add yellow icing to purple icing and it made the best grey i had ever seen. perfect for a ship. do practice with just a little bit first though if you give it a try.

This is true, because you can also mix grey by using equal amounts of all three primary colors (red, blue, & yellow). Purple is red & blue, adding yellow completes the mixture of the three primaries which results in neutral grey.
