I have to make a groom's cake at the end of November that is a deer head. Can anyone give me some tips on how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. icon_smile.gif

I've made two of these so far...I stack round cakes for the neck, 6 or 8 inch depending on how big you make it. Next you will need to cut a piece of foam core, to describe it best i would say the shape of a bowling pin. The fat end going on top of the neck and then the skinny end sticking out. This will give you a platform for your head and nose. Stack cake on top of the platform and then carve to shape head. For the horns i made a skeleton out of wire and then covered with modeling chocolate. u could use fondant if you wanted. I will upload a pic of the most recent one i've done. Let me know if you have any questions.

I just looked at your deer head cake. It is super cute! However, I am looking for more of a 3D deer head design. I did notice you had a camoflauge cake though.....how did you do the camoflauge?

I did one and I've only done a handful of cakes. I'm not sure if I would want to try one again. I don't have any directions but if you see my picture and like it just ask away and I'll try to help.
