AND Mamawrobin
I agree!!
I always wonder why people who have only been registered on CC for a few months lament for the "old days" when things were supposedly so much better and people were so much more helpful and so on. That's an awful lot of opinion to form in a few short months! ![]()
WHAT!?! There is NOT a band of friendly WereCakers that wait around simply to pounce on my questions/problems in the middle of the night? I was SO misled!!
if there's not i say we hire some lol. lord knows there's been a few times i coulda used a "hey you- i got this problem. whats your thought"
even if it was to flip the bird and toss a pillow heh j/k

100% agree!!!
Thank you to all of you for taking the time to HELP others, that is what I thought CC was all about!
BTW, McDonald's GAVE me a few milkshake straws once when I didn't have bubble straws. All you have to do is ask, they thought it was cool that I was using them for cake support. ![]()

Strange, ain't it? ![]()
Mine is people asking for a tutorial, for example how I make sweet peas.
I sat down for 2 days writing and then typing it, so hopefully it could be understood.
I sent 7 PMS and only had 2 replys saying thankyou. But I will still do it even if it takes weeks to do because if I can help one person a little bit then it makes it worthwhile. Because of all you wonderful people on here I have learned so much, I am nowhere near to the standards of most but I really appriciate the time and effort to answer my questions and to answer others posts so I am able to learn. ![]()
... came back after a few days because I decided it was worth a second chance. Imagine if I hadn't... what I'd be missing out on! And I dare to say, there are a few people that would've missed out on
And if you hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to add you to my list of "CC Cakers That I Idolize!" ![]()

(I may have mentioned a couple of times how Melvira'ing a cake changed my whole caking life!!!!) ![]()
My biggest pet peeve is the fact that most of the helpful, knowledgeable and truthful people have either been run off, banned or villanized.
It doesn't leave us with much, and it's sad.
I know overall this is a negative thread but I wanted to say that this board has been a major inspiration to me. I have not been doing this that long, but have been on the site, and just decided within the past few weeks to get more active, because I have been on the fence about what to do, whether to pursue this or not, and I wanted to say thank you for all the helpful advice and people who share a passion for decorating! It's nice to talk to other people about this that understand!
The gossip threads here on CC are what drive me nuts.
There's one going on right now (not this one) - pages and pages of griping about other members. Out in the open forums, too...
Really must make people want to join us here.
Hey, I want to know where this one is! I'm going to go look! ![]()
Hey, I want to know where this one is! I'm going to go look!
Yeah! Enquiring Minds want to know! (Hey! Am I the only one on here old enough to know where that came from?
HA HA HA! Dang, but you folks make me snort and laugh 'til I wheeze! Last night the typewriter "return" video, and now "enquiring minds want to know" Not only do I know where that comes from, but we use it in our family all the time. (In fact, just the other day my 41 yr old niece and I were deciding whether the top secret Area 51 "soldiers" on the front page of an issue about 20 years ago were vegetables or saguaro cactus--I won! They were saguaro cactus. Now the National Enquirer just has boring celebrity stuff. I have nowhere to go to find out the current stats on Chupacabras or were-cakers.)
Hey, I know, why doesn't somebody start a new thread with the word Rant in it?
Let me just add that I agree also that there are some super people on here! I, for one, have been helped a great deal by Khalstead. She's freakin' awesome. And I have yet to PM somebody who has not responded to me.
Ok, folks, don't beat me up here. But has anybody said anything about people who start a forum with a picture asking for "help" or "feedback" but are clearly fishing for compliments? I'm like geez, just post it and wait for some comments already! Don't mean to offend. I'm just sayin'!

well deary i sincerely appologize if i was one of those. i Have on occasion recommended a tutorial but i rarely ask for one- at least i try not to i know many feel this way and i hate being a pest or an additional poke of the thorn to folks here.

I second that. whenever i make cakes, certain styles i have lots in person asking where i got the recipe etc i send them here or send them the link to the recipe as i've too learned SO much since finding cake central and why keep a good thing to yourself? (hm i think we've had debates on that lol but you get the idear
)
That's what gets me, the "don't tell me the truth, tell me what I want to hear" attitude, and that if you DO tell someone something based in reality they accuse you of being the cake police and a big old MEEEEAAAANNNY!
guilty as charged re: big & old
...
It doesn't leave us with much, ...
see big above -- sure wish it wasn't so "much"
sitting here reading cake central i have another peeve.. and not necessarily a pet OR pertains to this thread lol
i hate that light and fit yogurt commercial where she's licking it dry and diggin in it with her fingers sorry it just drives me nuts
ok it pertains a Little bit to this thread as i was Reading this thread when that annoying commercial assaulted me again lol

to add to this sidetrack ...... I hate commercials that tell me to "have a HAPPY period!" aauugghhh!!
I love CC...when things get to be "too much"...I like to chill from it for a while. It's like anywhere else...you will have good days and bad days on it.
Someone mentioned "False Idol Worship"....which I think people misunderstand as "respect". I don't necessarily worship people on here....but there are several who have gained my respect--and quite deservingly--because they respond to posts with solid knowledge and a genuinely helpful attitude.
Too many to mention....but it really pains me to see them attacked or maligned, and often for an innocent comment which gets misread or badly absorbed by the reader's own thin skin. Sometimes I think it happens because the respected people have their own personality which doesn't always translate (but if you look at their past responses...you would see they are not trolling....been here for a long time and offer solid knowledge).

ah deb girl me too lol specially considering i went through a six month long.. Complication.. i wanted to strangle her and then say "here, YOU have a happy "." (beep)" lol
I hate that everyone around me is either on a diet or wants home-style desserts and not the multi-tiered cakes I want to make.
and the ever repeated "oh just a flat cake nothing special"
oh gee.. thanks...
for me.. i hate sheet cakes.. i hate the corners.. limited creativity.. course i'm one of the odd folks i'm not too in to doing cupcakes or cookies either (though i do have a killer fruit fiber home recipe- er not killer just heavenly heh)
aaaaaaanywho... (or is that a pet peeve too? hehe j/k)
its hard for me to convince some people i know that its actually EAsier for Me to do a 3 tierd round cake with buttercream or with fondant and takes little time to do it in.. (depending on how detailed the accessories are) their like "really? that seems so hard.." I'd rather hand them the how to's for the sheet cake they wanted and say "well then here have at it if you think THIS one's so simple" lol
I don't know what problem anyone could have with Melvira. Because of her, edible imaging is a very profitable part of my business. I have been doing cakes since the 80's. I always used the hot spatula smoothing method. Not since Mel shared her method. Priceless.
Thanks to one comment from Indy, my business has increased from a small now and then endeavor to a real business that makes a real income!
Not a peeve, just a comment. When people say the advice or opinions of those of us that do not post pictures or a location, are not valid. After having been on this site for awhile and been through alot of ups and downs and scuffles, I chose to take off pictures and location. Yes, there are some nasty cake stalkers on here ![]()

Ok my pet peeve is the 15 pounds that TexasSugar lost I found 10 of it
But the truth is I think you guys Rock
When I first came to cc Mamawrobin was the first to reach out and welcome me and I will never forget that, and in time I have gotten to know all you other wonderful people and others .You have always been kind and helpful to me. I still have so much to learn, but I am glad you are here and grateful for your help...Bekka
Ok, so I came back on here to post this "my little peeve is ppl who post pictures sideways ie. don't rotate them the right way around before posting them. It just annoys me to have to twist my head/neck/upper body around to see what it is"
But having read the last couple of posts, I want to say this "my BIG peeve is folks who just can't let a good thing go. They've just gotta go in there and wreck it with a some good old female-doggish-ness and a heavy dose of cattiness" This thread was obviously meant to be lighthearted venting, but man some folks have just got to come in and say something just to say something! Speaking of which, the OP's original post was so clearly sarcastic, I can't help but think those that took issue with her lack of capitalization etc must just be so tightly wound up they're just looking for a fight - or maybe just had a bad day. Still that's my BIG peeve.

I had to get this out there - on 2 occasions, I've had people tell me they didn't get pm's or I sent one and they didn't get it. So sometimes ppl are just ingrates or maybe they did send a thank you pm but it didn't get through. Just throwing that out there to give the benefit of the doubt to ppl like me who ALWAYS say thank you if I've pm'd someone for help and they've responded.
I don't like when people publically belittle the very people they have so willingly helped in the past, just to lift themselves up...only they label it "sarcasm". Very few people can effectively pull off sarcasm...
"Humor does not include sarcasm, invalid irony, sardonicism, innuendo, or any other form of cruelty. When these things are raised to a high point they can become wit, but unlike the French and the English, we have not been much good at wit since the days of Benjamin Franklin. "

Although my all time favorite has to be when you offer specific advice, only to see your almost exact words later quoted in a magazine with no credit given to you. Maybe they think that person lives in a vacuum...??
to add to this sidetrack ...... I hate commercials that tell me to "have a HAPPY period!" aauugghhh!!
Did you see the Kotex U commercials that poke fun at all the other ones?
The girl standing there going "yeah when I'm on my period I want to go run along the beach and go dancing in a white dress..."
