Can anyone advise how to make a gift box cake that has the illusion of a lid on top?

You can do this by measuring about 1-1 1/2 inches from the top of the box depending on how tall it is and using a rope made of fondant and placing around the box at that level. It will give the illusion there is a top or lid.
