How do you get these colors in many of the halloween cakes/cookies?? Specifically purple and green...I have Wilton Violet....but it does not look like these colors.

You can achieve those shades of color with the Wilton colors. My students do it all the time.

I prefer the Americolor brand colors, but even with the Wilton colors you can make dark, vibrant colored icing, you just have to add enough of the color. Forget the toothpick, get a butterknife and scoop out a good 1/4-1/2 tsp of the coloring.
