Ok, so I made an appointment with a bride to come to my home office... she shows up an hour early!!! I was totally unprepared, didn't have time to check her email for the list of flavours she wanted to try as she was already sitting in my office and I was naked in the bathroom about to jump in the shower when the door bell rang! Ok, so I pulled myself together, got her some samples of whatever I had on hand and walked her through the consultaion. Then this @#$%$ emails me this morning telling me she can't work with me because I'm so unprofessional!! She said I wasn't ready for our meeting and she was worried I wouldn't be on time to the wedding!!!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!?!? I'm so PO I feel to respond to her email with a string of profanities!! So, like what is she going to do, show up at her receptioon venue the night before and freak out that the food hasn't been cooked yet!!!?!?!?!? GGRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrr....... ok... I feel better now... thanks for listening!!! lol...

I agree. Sounds like wouldn't want to work with her anyways. Like she would show up at your house for a health inspection! Or want to watch you bake to make sure you stir the batter clock wise, and not counter clockwise!!
I wouldn't have opened my door either. Just a suggestion, maybe you can stress your time. I really stress punctuality and only 3 people allowed. I stress this and let them know that if their is deviation from the time they will not be seen. I also let them know if any extra people show up, they will be asked to wait outside. I let them know in a very apolgetic manner that I hate to have to do these things, but it's neccessary. So far no problems. An hour early, wow!

I would probably email her and let her know that you regret that she won't be using you for her wedding cake and let her also know that you were taken aback at her showing up an hr. early and that's what had you a little unprepared. (I usually have my samples ready to go the night before just in case something like this happens though, waiting until an hr. before hand to make samples? that's asking for problems)
But again, I tend to agree with the others...this probably isn't someone you'd want to have a working relationship with anyhow!
I agree you are better off without her order. I do understand your frustration and anger about her comments though. Did she even acknowledge that she was an hour early? Did you explain to her that it was her fault that you were unprepared?

When she arrived, did you let her know she was an hour early? With so much to do planning a wedding, it's so easy to arrive early (or late) for an appointment. Not that that's an excuse, but it's true, nonetheless.
But, if you did and she still reacted like this ... good riddance to bad rubbish!

I say you flip it around and send her a email "firing" her as your customer due to her inability to keep an appointment.
Early or late she still technically missed the appointment time.
I am so sorry you had to deal with her! I would not have answered the door and expected to phone to ring. The phone call would be goo to answer with something like " I am glad you called to confirm our appointment in an hour, thanks I will see you then."

She's the one who's unprofessional and just plain rude. She's not worth the grief and I guarantee you she's pulled this stuff with other people and has probably then bullied them into giving her what she wants by threatening to disparage their good name.
Just for my own peace of mind - and so she knows that YOU know SHE was in the wrong - I'd e-mail her telling her that she showed up an hour before the set appointment with no notice to you, throwing off your entire schedule, and that if she'd shown up at the correct time you would have had everything prepared and ready to go when she arrived.
Then go beat her up!

She also told me that she was going to report my unprofessional behavior to the reception site so that they would know about me. Well, she apparently didn't know that they do know me, and that I've done cakes for them before and am actually doing the wedding cake for one of their event coordinators. So anyway, I called the site, and they said that they weren't surprised at the incident. They had apparently had to talk this girl out of having a local fast food place cater the reception!

ROFLMBO! Cause you know that every guest wants to get all dressed up for a wedding to be served a Happy Meal at the reception. I would take my gift back home with me.

I had a cake pickup like that...she said she wanted to pick up early. I said no earlier than 9am...she said "Okay 9am".
I was in the shower at 8:30am and luckily my hub was home and ran up and said "They're here already!!!" So he gave them the cake and took the remainder of the payment. Otherwise I guess they'd have had to sit outside for a half hour. *shrugs*
