I am working on a Harley-themed cake, and I will cover the base in black fondant hopefully made to resemble leather. This is a manly cake, and I don't want to use a ribbon around the edge of the cake base. I've seen cakes with the fondant covering the entire base, even the edges, and am considering this option.

But how on earth does one move a heavy stacked cake if the fondant covers the edge of the base?

You attach feet under the base board. I use the scraps from the foam core to make the feet.
