Julie, congrats on the pound!! A loss is a loss!

Tesso, so sorry to hear of your diagnosis as well. icon_sad.gif It must be a good feeling to know you've helped your niece though!

So, i did run last night. I was making supper when my husband got home and he went for his run, then came home and I told him I wasn't going and he pretty much took over supper-making and kicked me out to run. icon_smile.gif I did 8.5 with some speedwork and felt awesome for getting that out of the way! I walked to work this morning and am doing Zumba tonight, and all day tomorrow!

Katherine congrats on the half marathon! I'm proud of you for doing it, and in 2.5 hours? WOW! I'm also glad you went out running last night! What is Zumba, I've heard of it, I know it is exercise related but hadn't really looked into it.

I can totally understand avoiding this thread when you aren't doing so well. I'm not doing the best I could be either, have had an bad eating week, just down in the dumps for some reason. UGH! I hope you hang around though, we miss seeing you!

As far as things with hubby, I would say listen and trust your hurt. If things don't sound right they usually aren't, but only you truely know the situation you are in. Just remember if you see anything that could be red flags question it, don't brush them off. I've learned if I have questions or things aren't quite adding up right there is usually a reason for it.

Julie, woo hoo on the -1lb! Personally, while I am excited when I lose a bigger number, I'm just as happy with those smaller ones. A loss is a loss!

Tesso, I'm so happy for you that you were able to help your niece out and keep her from having more problems down the line! HUGS!

Thanks Tracy!! We have been good at being honest with each other and communicating better... Life is pretty happy here these days so that's good!

Zumba is a fitness class with moves from Latin/International dance... Their moto is "Ditch the workout, join the party!" It was an awesome day but I am pysically spent... Besides the 1.5 hours of fitness classes, there was all the practice. I'm going to teach a class a week in my workplace and maybe expand in the fall. icon_smile.gif

Opps, I meant heart instead of hurt. That's what I get for not reading through it again. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm glad things are getting better for you!

So how is everyone doing this morning?

I'm working on little sleep, nerves about starting the new classes this week and still fighting off those down in the dumps feelings. Doesn't seem like a great start, but I'm going to try to make it. I'm really tired of telling myself this is the week, then screwing it up. I just have to do it. I have 2 months until the trip to San Diego this summer for the convention, and while I'm okay with my weight, wouldn't it be even better if I went 20lbs lighter?

I've also been putting off buying a bathing suit for the trip with the hopes that I'll lose more weight, of course that hasn't happened either (and its totally my fault), and now I'm in a catch 22. I don't know if I buy one now to make sure I get it, bathing suits become slim pickings the further we get into summer, or if I wait and risk not getting one at all. I could buy one a size smaller than what would fit now, but then how do I know it will fit then. All I know is that my last bathing suit I bought two years ago is not going to work.

Well hell! I ended up starting this post this morning and finally 6 hours later I get to post it. The internet at work decided to go out. UGH!! So anyway.

I was going to spend some time looking up how to cook a pork picnic roast or what ever the piece of meat is called. Ive been eating a lot of chicken and turkey so I try to toss in beef or pork in the mix so I dont start growing feathers and clucking. It sounded good, maybe some pulled pork tacos, but I just have to figure out how to cook it. I also have a pound of turkey meat to do something with. Thats the plan for tonight, to figure those out and make my menu plan since I was drawing a blank yesterday.

Heres hoping I do better this week.

Hello everyone!!

I'm still around. Sorry I haven't been on here for so long. I guess I've been busy - just don't ask me what I've been doing. It certainly hasn't been losing weight!! I am SO stuck. I keep on exercising but the weight isn't coming off. I have lost some inches. So that keeps me going.

I didn't read all the posts I've missed. I did skim some really quick. I am sorry about the loss of a father, medical issues, marriage issues. Life can be so hard sometimes. We just have to hang on and try to focus on the good stuff. And remember that when we get off track we can always get back on. Whether it's been one meal, one day, one month or even one year. We have to keep trying.

Tracy, thanks for sticking with all of us. I know that sometimes it must feel pretty lonely on here. But it sure is comforting to know that you're right here if we need you! Hugs!!

We have a new kitten at our house. And I think we get to keep him! He's a cutie, a little orange tabby with beautiful markings. He apparently hitched a ride to church under the hood of one of our friends cars. He must have spent three hours in the engine compartment till our friend got ready to leave. He was scared to death and I know that it's a God thing that we where there and able to catch him. Our friend recognized him as a stray from her neighborhood. I just love the little guy. But it's such a pain trying to take care of him, get hime socailized (he's doing great!) and letting everyone spend some time with him! Sometimes kids and kittens don't mix!

I'm off to have a cup of coffee and hopefully some quiet time with the kitten! Have a great night!

Great to see you Melissa!! Inch loss is still loss, I hope the weight follows soon! icon_smile.gif

Do we still have weigh-in Wednesdays? I am 167.2 this morning. icon_smile.gif Good to be back down below 170 again... On Jan. 1 I was 181.6, so I'm happy with my 2010 loss so far.

Good morning all. Hope everyone is doing well.
Katherine - sounds like you're doing great. Awesome. So glad that you are feeling happy and confident again.

Melissa - losing inches is fantastic! Keep up the wonderful work. Ahhh, your new little kitty sounds so adorable.

Tracy - I'm so sorry that you are still feeling a bit down. Things will turn around for you. You just have to make it happen and I know you can. I've been where you are at many times.

When I start saying things like I "hope" I will lose some weight this week, and I "hope" I can get into a smaller size dress, I start to realize that I've lost focus and some desire to continue my journey. I've learned that I cannot use the word "hope". I have to say things like "I will" and then accept no excuse not to accomplish my goals.
I just have to make sure that my goals are in fact realistic. As long as they are realistic, there is absolutely no reason why I can't reach them. Are there times that I falter a little? Absolutely. But the important thing is to pick yourself back up and gather all that desire and determination that I had when I began this journey and the "I WILL" attitude and before ya know it, I'm losing weight again. If we all want to lose weight and become healthier, we CAN do it. We just have to really want to make these changes and have the take charge attitude and nothing will be able to stand in our way.....
My week was pretty good. I'm starting to fluctuate a bit but I guess that's just all part of losing. I did lose some more so I'm happy about that. I started this journey in Jan at 183 lbs. I'm now at 147.4 so a total of 35.6 lbs this year. Still have about 20 lbs left to go. Gonna do it, without a doubt......
How is everyone else doing???

Margie, what an AWESOME 2010 you are having, that is very very impressive!! icon_smile.gif You certainly have the right attitude, and you will do it if you maintain that!!

Tracy, I hope you are doing okay!! It is no fun feeling down, and I'm sure your classes will go great! You are doing amazing on your journey to a healthier you! icon_smile.gif

I hear ya on bathing suit buying... I need a new one as well, I would try on a couple and maybe you can find one that will still fit well if you lose more? You could always buy 2, one of each size, keep tags and crotch-protector thingy on and return one! icon_smile.gif

I suggested to DH that I buy a bikini this morning and his response was: "well, I would have to see what that looks like first." I said, well you know how I look naked, and in underwear and bra... Then silence... I feel really good and thought I could pull it off since whenever we travel we see all shapes and sizes in very skimp-ish suits. His lack of support was a knock against my self esteem though. icon_sad.gif Oh well, I'll probably pick out a suit the day before we travel, see how well I can do over the next 3 weeks...

Thanks so much Katherine. I went bathing suit shopping a couple of weeks ago. I actually did purchase 2. I will need one when we go on vacation in a couple of months. Because I wasn't sure what size I would need at that time, I went ahead and got 2 different sizes. I'm allowed 3 months for returns so I'll be ok to bring one back. At least this way, I got to pick from a pretty good selection. I'm really sorry that hubby wasn't real receptive to you getting a bikini. Hey, maybe he's just a little jealous and is afraid that too many guys will pay attention to ya. Hey, If I were you I'd go for it.

Melissa, aww thank you! I think I keep coming back here, because I know when I don't come here any more I'm in trouble and I have completly given up.

Congrats on the loss inches and on your new addition to the family. What is his name?

Katherine, woo hoo on your loss! Don't worry about what hubby says about the bathing suit. Go try some on, and pick what you think looks best on your body. icon_smile.gif

Margie, awesome job on the loss!

I know what you are saying. I can't figure out what my deal is this time around. I've gotten off track before, but usually can pick myself back up. I'm having the hardest time getting back on track. I start the week saying this will be it, and then by Tuesday or Wednesday all that has fallen out the window.

I know in my head it is time to crack down, because if I don't do it soon I will spend the rest of my summer at the same weight and fighting not to gain more weight.

Just got my hair done a few weeks ago, went lighter with it. And I can't do retail therapy. Since I bought that car last month and my insurance went up, I'm actually trying to curb my spending. Not doing grand with it, but I can't afford to go out and spend anything on things I don't really need. Sigh.

Me, myself and I are going to sit down and have a serious talk this weekend and see if I can't get back into the grove of things next week. I know I can make the changes needed, I've done it before, I just have to do it, damn it!

Hello All!

Tracy, I'm right where you are. I can't seem to get myself back on track! I think I might be feeling a little overwhelmed with all the 'stuff' in my life. I'm sticking with the exercise, but I know that my food is probably a problem. I keep saying that I'm going to start journaling again, but I never do. And I think I need to step up the exercise. I'm having the same talk with myself this weekend - ' no more messing around! Get serious or accept the fact that you'll probably gain the weight back!' I don't want to have to start over!

Kay - sorry about the bathingsuit issue with your hubby. I hate it when that happens. Sometimes I wish my DH would lie, I don't always want to know the 'real' truth! I think you should do what makes you happy.

I'm off to work on dinner, it won't be pretty. At least as far as the calories go! But I'm not even sure what I'll be eating.

Have a great evening!

Well Melissa maybe I'll see you here Monday morning and both of us can tackle this with renewed attitudes.

I have done horrible on the journally. I did about 4 months of writing down everything and in the last two months I barely have written down anything. Grrr to me!

Take a breathe and remember there are some things we can change around us and there are other things we can't. We just have to figure out in our lives which items those are and stop stressing over the ones we can't do anything about.

HUGS!!

I finally started figuring out cake ideas for my display cakes for the convention. I've been less than excited about going ot the this year for some reason, but I'm hoping now that I have some ideas I can turn that around. I also need to figure out a way to start saving money for cake shopping while I am there.

And I told my brother today after lunch that from now on I am only eating out lunch with him once a week. It is taking a too big of a hit to my wallet as well as adding way too many calories to my day. It is a start. I know he won't push me and if I plan my lunchs right he will even eat some with me.

She put in blondish highlights then did a caramelization over all off it with another color that was lighter than my natural color but darker than the highlights. I've been going to the same person for over a year now so I just let her pick the colors.

Tracy, that sounds really pretty. I keep thinking that I want to get me hair cut really short, but the hubby likes it long. I'm not a hair person, not into styling or messing with it. So I just pull it back in a ponytail. Probably not the best look! But I don't like having hair in my face or on my neck. Especially when it's hot. I'll take it down and try to do something with it for special occasions. But I would LOVE to have it short.

Ok, today's the day I get back on track. My weight was WAY up this morning. I don't know what's going on. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the 7 or 8 mini Snickers that I ate yesterday!!! What is wrong with me!?! But I'm determined to get focused again. Especially before I hit that 200 mark again. I have to go for now - time to feed the family! But I'll be back in a little bit to try to map out a plan and get some advice and encouragement!

Okay thought I'd share a picture with the new hair color, I couldn't this weekend cause I was on my phone and don't know how to do it from there.

I had my hair longer for ages because everyone likes it that way, but I did the same thing that you did, I kept pulling it back in a ponytail or bun and hated to have my hair down in the summer. I love this length I have now and it took me a while to get it this short, because I was afraid to cut too much off. One thing that I love is that I leave it down more often than not know. I can pull all of it or almost all of it back in a pony tail if I need to, but I dont feel the need to do that all the time any more.

When I get it cut though, the girl knows I have two requirements. I need to be able to pull the front/sides back so when I am in class leaning over to show things I don't have hair all in my face and hanging over their stuff. And it has to be easy to style. I can spend more time on it with a flat iron it or give it a little curl, but during the week I like to be able to just wash and go, or at the most blow dry it some.

My hair is so much healthier now that it is shorter. I have less split ends and less breakage. I doubt Id go back long again. Plus I have baby fine hair, so my hair has so much more body when it is cut shorter.

I say if you want to cut *your* hair, cut it, if all else fails you can grow it back. That is the cool think about hair, no matter what you do to it, it can be undone with some time. icon_smile.gif

Also if you are going somewhere to get it colored ask them what their policies are on it if you dont like it. I found out that last time I was getting my hair done that at the salon I go to, if you have a problem with the color/cut the will redo it for free with in 7 days. Of course I just tell the girl to do what ever, so Im not sure thatd let me do it. But if you go in and ask for a light brown color and it comes out too dark then chances are you can get it fixed for free, which is nice to know when you are making big changes.

So anyway, enough about hair

How is everyone doing today?

This is my new day! So far breakfast was good, lets hope I can keep it up. Opps, sorry Margie I will keep it up. icon_smile.gif

I went to the store Saturday night and stocked up on good for you stuff again, veggies and fruit and all that. I didnt get a chance yesterday to really make heads or tails of any of it since I had to go to my moms to help her with dinner for the family (we wont talk about how bad for you, but oh so good that meal was). Tonight Im going to figure out what all is in the fridge and get a meal plan going for the week.

I have 7 weeks until my trip to CA, thats enough time to lose what I have gained back plus some to put me closer to my first goal. I can do this. I am going to do this!

I have only colored my hair twice, but think I need a hair cut before vacation... I contemplated buying some groceries but most of the places don't let you bring in food, thus forcing us to purchase lunch. icon_sad.gif

Katherine, Thank you! icon_smile.gif

I've been coloring my hair for 15 years. Started with just highlights then I did full color and I have colored it myself many of time. I really like the Nice and Easy brand and always got nice comments on the color. But I do like to treat myself and have it done. icon_smile.gif

My dad asked me what I was going to do when we were gone, because we will be away from home for 10 days. I was like I'll try to make healthy choices then deal with the rest when I get back. It is a vacation after all. I can work on still being healthy but I'm not going to stress myself out over eating while I should be enjoying things.

When do ya'll leave?

142 this morning and yesterday. I'm still up from my lowest but I had seen as high as 144, so I'm okay with the 142. In a little over 3 lbs I'll be back to my lowest, so I guess that isn't so bad for taking a two to three month break.

I did okay eating Monday and did well until after class last night. One of my students brought me some homemade tamales, and while I'm pretty sure they aren't the healthiest thing out there, they were good. And then while I was making chocolate icing I had serveral licks. But over all I haven't done too bad. Now on to another day. icon_smile.gif

Good morning everyone.
Tracy - I love your hair color. I'm really considering having mine lightened and then maybe highlights. I've colored my hair a light brown for more years than I even want to admit. icon_lol.gif It might be difficult to strip the color because I dye it every 3 weeks so there's lots of chemicals embedded in there.
So glad that you are doing well and are happy with your numbers. I fluctuated a bit over the last week but it looks like I'm down about another pound this morning. I was super busy this past week and didn't really have the opportunity to chart my calories but I guess I did alright. I like to have confirmation at the end of the day of exactly how many calories I've consumed. I really need to find some time to get a menu together. I want to cook out more too. I just recently tried the Perdue perfect portion chicken that is marinated in garlic and white wine. It's REALLY good!! It's only 110 calories for each portion which is a bit over 4 ounces. We cooked it out on the grill and I was really surprised how tender and juicy it was.

Ok, so how is everyone else doing???

We leave for vacation on June 29, it's the girls first plane ride so I need to be super-prepared on things to keep them busy! icon_smile.gif I am not too nervous about eating out, I've been doing really well lately at restaurants by ordering salads and low-fat choices... I need to continue running as well while we're gone since I have a 10 mile road race on July 25! We come back after a week, then are going to my Sisters for a week...

Tracy, I think your weight is awesome considering the break you had! icon_smile.gif Great job!!

Margie, congrats on the 1 pound! icon_biggrin.gif

I am at 166.8 this morning, which is only 0.4 less than last week, but good considering I was not the bestest eater over the weekend and my Mondays weight was 169.6! I am having some stress at home and work and haven't been faithfully exercising in the mornings before work. Before I know it the alarm is making it's second ring and by then it's too late to exercise and still get everyone out of the house on time....

Katherine - thank you. Wow, what a drop you had since Monday. Hey, a half a pound loss from last week's weigh in is still a loss. Going in the right direction for sure. So glad that you've been able to eat out and still maintain the calorie level that you want. I surprised myself while out of state for over a week. I ate out three times a day and by the time I got home, had actually lost weight. So, now I know that we actually can eat out and still lose weight. Exactly Margie! icon_smile.gif Being on this journey shouldn't keep us from anything, it should open up more of the world to us. At least we know we will be happier in the end.

I've colored my hair alot and the girl told me the is last time that my hair takes longer to absorb the color. I was like is that good or bad. She said good, meant I have healthy hair. icon_smile.gif As long as you aren't doing the colorings that have bleach in them your hair should be fine. My was always softer after I colored it with the Nice and Easy.

Congrats on your 1lb! Those suckers add up don't they?

Katherine, you hang in there with your stress, and work through it. If you can't get your exercise in in the morning, fit it in in the evening. That may help you with the stress, because we can't always control everything around us, but this is something you can take in to your hands and do what you need to with it.

Any loss is a loss in my books, even if it has a . in front of it. As Margie said it is less not more, so that is always a big plus. Since this year is almost half over, where did the time go, how about at the end of this month we all post our loses and we will tally it up. It will be cool to see how much as a group we have lost this year, because we have been doing well, between our ups and downs. icon_smile.gif What do ya'll say?

Awesome idea, Tracy. Posting our losses for the year at the end of the month sounds good to me......
