my daughter and her two best friends are graduating from high school. they couldn't decide on a theme for the combined cake, so they asked me to come up with something as long as it contains the following:
colors- black, white, and gold
flowers- calla lillies
drapes
grad cap w/year
butterflies-pink, blue, and purple
so...this is what i came up with.
my daughter said its too much black...what do you think???
i did this in microsoft paint...just messing around and copying and pasting!
I personally love the design an I don't think there is too much black. But if she does, then I think I would try to simplify the cornelli lace. Other than that, I think this will turn out really beautiful.
Maybe just make the cornelli lace white on white and then there won't be too much black. Nice!
I think it is beautiful, sophisticated and elegant. But if your client thinks there is too much black...You can always tell her she's grounded if she disagrees with the decorator!!!

Since you have black cornelli (sp?), you could make the drapes whites and then the cap and ribbons gold. Just a thought! I agree though, if she doesn't agree or like it....SHE'S GROUNDED!
that's funny...maybe i should ground her...she's getting this cake for free...which is to feed over a hundred people.
doing the cornelli lace white is an option...great idea.
umgrzfn...i'm gonna try it on ms paint and see what it would look like. i work better when i have something to look at.
I think it looks great. If you want to cut the black a little maybe make the ribbon a slimmer boarder. Plus I think it looks a little more black because of the way the ms paint did the swags, if they are going to be solid gold I think it will be great!
