Hello All,

I'm new to cake decorating, and my tiered cake final is this Sunday. Can anyone recommend a moist yet durable homemade cake that is very plain, so that I can experiment with frostings and flavorings?

Thanks in advance!
Sunny

If you go in the recipe tab and select what type of cake you want (chocolate, vanilla, etc...) there are lots of choices. Most are rated, which I use to determine if it is a cake I want to try.....

Oh I'm sorry, I meant a cake that is durable, as in it won't cave when I tier it. There are some recipes to try, but does anyone have a strong one they can recommend?

Remember that it's your support system that matters NOT the recipe.

As indydebi says "you can make a cake out of Cool Whip as long as you have a good support system".

That being said a good white cake recipe is an oldie from the King Arthur Flour company, just google it. It's very moist and goes well with all fillings/icings.

Sylvia Weinstock's Classic Yellow Cake (google) is another great cake.

Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake is awesome too.
