AYes MB, he might lose a bit of weight on the journey! Did you see the real one? He's an Alaskan malamute/ husky cross.
Oh wow love the actual dog too, hes gorgeous!! Looks sooo cuddly with all that fur :)
AThanks Mel. I really need to practice making figures, I'm not very artistic at all, they take me ages.
Same here, its not a natural thing for me so I really have to work on them, especially if they need to look vaguely 'real' - cartoony ones are so much easier! Luckily they usually turn out pretty well, but its so tricky! This week is going to be a huuuge job - Bride and Groom with their dog and cat!!
AI know what you mean mel. I made pigs for a pigs in mud cake and they were ok, took a few attempts but they did look like pigs. When it came to making peppa pig and her family I really struggled to get them to like the characters. When's the wedding cake due?
Hi Mel! When we've made it work...I will share it. At the moment, I think the chocolate we have is wayyy too greasy. (I don't like white chocolate or chocolate cake so it's a bit difficult for me to be objective).
Maisie - I love the dog! You have done a really good job!
Sorry - don't know who did the flowerpots - but they are really good!
Kathy
AAre you all still here? I need an opinion on the ocean cake. It's as per the sketch, but I'm doing my perfectionist nonsense again... =/
EDIT: Forgot a question mark. And me a teacher!!!!
Thanks Kathy! I find anything chocolate so temperamental, so far I have a reliable white choc ganache and a mostly reliable dark one and that's about it LOL! I only started using it recently but I do find it helps get better edges, although I still find it hard to get them razor sharp, but I quite like them gently curved anyway.
Maisie, wedding cake is for 2 weeks time, getting the topper done this week (although its actually being used as a table ornament, as they have bought another topper for the actual cake!) and also starting on the sugar flowers - orchids and calla lilies for a 3 tier cascade!
I'm still here :)
Oh and you just reminded me about the apple cakes (teacher link in my head LOL!) - loved them both! Seriously wanted to take a bite out of them though LOL!
AWell, here it is...

Wow that's lovely! I LOVE the 3D seaweed effect you've got on that, it really gives it an underwater atmosphere, and is a fab backdrop to your dolphin - which is brilliant!
Thanks Kathy and Mel.
Maisie your mum's dog is gorgeous, that is a lovely idea to cheer her up.
Marvel cake is awesome.
I am gonna jump in the shower and then watch some telly with the family, will catch up on all the goings on tomorrow have a good night everyone
AMaisie, fab dog! But he has no name!!! I vote for Bob, why? Cos thats what they call me in work, for 18yrs!!!
Marvel, fair do's, thats brilliant, love everything.
What cutter did you use for the flowers? Love your dolphin too.
AThanks Mel, I havn't got it right yet, mainly the paints I'm using, they tend to dry very quick, and thoughts as to what paints to use?
ABob the dog it is then nanny! You know you can't tell us they call you that without telling us why tho don't you?!
That's brilliant m4rvel, I love the dolphin.
Yeah he's gorgeous roxy, my mam thinks he's her youngest child! Night night. :-)

This is the cutter and the mould is another custom job. Saw one on an American site that doesn't ship here, so showed a pic to the guy at my suppliers and two weeks later: boom! Love it!
AThanks all for the comments re cake. Do you ever get over seeing just a load of bits you made just shoved on a cake and just be able to see the whole picture?!
Cos I think that's my issue generally... :/
AWell its fab and I want one now!!
To be honest Maisie! I really do know why, but it just stuck, not everyone calls me it, but a few do, odd peeps I work with, most of us got nicknames, theres a young girl there the call Elvis her name is Ellis, another one last name is Rogers, she's Rog!!
So who knows, we got one optician they call him the Ginger Ninja! No one is safe believe me.
AYes marvel all the time, but then thats what we're all like, we see our cakes differently to the people we make them for.

Was thinking if getting the range but wanted to see how they are forst
AM4rvel, I saw an excellent ocean cake in Facebook earlier and it made me think of you, have to say yours smashes it!
You're your own worst critic? It's brilliant and you should be proud.
ALmao nanny that's hilarious. The call me the oracle at work. Mainly because I know what poop is gonna hit the fan and when. Maybe I can just read people lol.
I think it's the same everywhere you work. Nicknames all the time lol. I like being the princess on here though :princess:

I'm definitely my own worst critic! Fortunately, I have you lovely lot to keep me grounded... xx
AHad an email about the CC Sand and Surf Inspiration Challenge earlier. Although the link is tenuous (I have sand!), have uploaded it to that album. In for a penny and all that... ;)
