Actually, the idiomatic expression is 'can't see the forest for the trees'.

Yeah, I know...my point is that she can't quite see the small details because she's already looking at the end result. But thanks... icon_confused.gif

Debi-loved the line, it reminds me in a way of what my husband tells people looking to cater-"we are not the cheapest but we sure are the tastiest!" Sometimes customers need to be subtly prodded along..rather most of the times...icon_smile.gif

I'm not in PA, but here are some links that may help if you have not already looked at them. Each person's goals and business purpose is always a little different and is VERY sacred, so that may explain why you have gotten so few responses. As you go deeper into the this discovery process, you will understand what I mean... Blessed wishes, have fun.

I've had a storefront bakery for 10yrs, recently building our own place. Depending on your city-not just the state-codes can vary. They do not allow home based bakeries here-AT ALL!
Do you plan on doing just cakes, or will you do other bakery? This makes a huge difference when it comes to your sanity. Offering more than cakes, customers will want you to do everything under the sun. Don't give in. It's the same thing when you have a restaurant. Besides poor management & money, it's the thought you have to incorporate everything customers want. It's an impossible thing to do, & a main reason places close up. You can burn out very fast. Stick to what you plan on doing(business plan), and don't do too much.
Research & location, location, location!
