Ok, from personal experience with employee...Write a personal letter, this will show her the type of person you are....caring, warm, and willing to talk about things.
Whcih will hopefully let her see that this is someone she wants working for her...customer service says alot. Let her know you were nervous, and if she CANT/WONT give you the chance to do another cake. Tell her point blank: I understand & I appreciate your time. It shows her your trying, and also that your willing to talk about things...and that you want the job. Also let it be known that you will supply her with past photos of your cakes.
GOOD LUCK!!!
WELL I'LL BE DARNED, SHE JUST E-MAILED ME! She said she just finishing interviewing last night and hired someone on a "temporary" basis. whatever that means. She will keep me on file, and possibly has a clerk position coming up, so I guess maybe I still have a small chance of getting in even if not the lead decorator, you never know.
At least she thinks highly enough about you to keep you on file and possibly have another position for you. If she hired someone on a temporary basis - then she doesn't seem to have faith in the person that she hired either..... hmmmm....
I am so glad that she contacted you, I hate not knowing what happens!!
After all this time she emailed me and said she has a position open for me. Not the one I applied for, but a foot in the door. Great hours, full time, good money and ,and I start tomorrow. I am so exicted and greatful to get any job in this economy and in Michigan to boot. Just wanted to give you all an update. Thanks for all the support! ![]()
Congrats!!!!! She must have really liked you.
My dad always told me to follow up several times on job interviews. I'd be like "Aww dad come on, I want to just wait and see if they call". He told me that you have to show them you really want the job...if they don't think you are serious about it, they won't be either.
It did pay off for me a couple times in my high school/college years....
Congrats on the job. I hope it is everything that you want it to be.
That is so FANTASTIC!!! I hope that you have a great first day today!!
I am just so happy for you!!

Thanks for all the good wishes. Such a great group we have here. The 1st day was great. Very good people to work with. They did say they will be using me for decorating soon, so I guess they didn't think I did as bad as I thought. They did hire another decorator though. But when one of the decs is on vacation, there are three, or emergencies, etc. they will use me.
I can say this, economy or not, people still like their sweets. I was suprised at the quantity of orders and it seems money is not a big issue.
Me, personally, I wouldn't send an email, but a personal handwritten note. And explain how nervous you were and how much you loved this place, etc. I would also include pics of yours. You do wonderful work.
Don't sell yourself short.
i totally agree. ![]()
a hand-written note and your photos is a good idea! ![]()
