I'm making a cake this shape- but only on tier. I'm baking a 2" layer of an 8", 9" and 10". I figure you put the 8 on the bottom, then stack it up 9 and then 10. Then carve the sides so they're angled? Should I put boards between the layers to the size of the layer they're sitting on or not since it's just 2" layers of one tier? Is there something structurally that I'm missing? (Cause it feels like there is).

TIA! icon_biggrin.gif

it will definitely be a tall cake but I wouldn't think you'd need any boards between the layers. I've never made that exact cake though so maybe someone else will have better advice. I have done the angled sides before and that's exactly what I did, baked a 10, 9 and 8. I actually carved it upside down though. I found it easier to have the 10 on bottom and then flip it back up.
