I have an all purple cake to do for October and am considering trying the two shades of purple from Americolor. Do they turn blue the same way Wilton Lavender does? I really hate that. icon_mad.gif

Thanks In Advance.

Hello, is anyone out there?

I don't have any problem with Wilton's violet turning blue. In an all-shortening buttercream, if you use milk as your liquid, you will achieve violet and lavender.

I MUCH prefer the color of Wilton's violet over Americolor's violet.

Yes, Americolor purples do turn blue. I've had good luck with Chefmaster no-fade purple. Also, I've had excellent results mixing together deep red and blue icing/fondant.
