I am doing a cake for a friends wedding this winter. I was needing some help on how to make edible snowflakes to put on the cake. I have only done a few cake for close friends and family so I am wanting to start practicing now so I have it down by december.

There are some templates on this site that you might find helpful. There are a few different sheets of them.

Sketch out the snowflake and pipe them using royal icing

You can also buy cutters to use with fondant or may be able to press them on and pipe them on with icing.

if you're looking for dainty and elegant, royal icing is the way to go. fondant or gumpaste would be easier, but a little more "clunky".
