Melvira, for this simple mousse, how much bettercreme do you add and do I have to use the sugar free pudding? Thanks in advance for your help! icon_smile.gif

If you are using the liquid Bettercreme, I use 2 cups of it, put that in the mixing bowl, then add one 4 serving package of the dry pudding mix (sugar free and regular both work just fine!) and add about half a cup of milk, then whip. If it's too thick for your taste you can turn the mixer back on and stream in a little more milk. If you want, you can also make the pudding with one cup of milk, then whip the Bettercreme, then fold the two together. It really doesn't matter which way you do it, some people just may like doing it one way or the other. If you make the pudding separately, then begin folding in whipped Bettercreme, you have more control over how light you make it. If you like a lighter, fluffier mousse, you can add more Bettercreme, if you like a heavier, denser finished product, you can use less. It's all about control! thumbs_up.gif

My pleasure, just one thing... I am not responsible for any weight you may gain when you taste how good this is. It is NOT a healthy replacement for meals, and standing at the open fridge door with a spoon actually DOES have calories! Hehehehe.

I would say you could either just add chocolate syrup or you could do the chocolate pudding variation. Either way would work!

Which store did you find it at? I'm in MD too - I can get it at a local cake shop but if I could find it at the grocery store that would be helpful too!

thanks

Has anyone ever asked at a Walmart bakery? I know they use the same stuff as Sams, but our Sam's doesn't have a bakery & the local Cash 'N Carry went way up on their price! I may ask if I can buy in bulk from them

Turpin-- I saw your post on the MD forum.. so I think you're in AA county right? I don't think they have them there but it's called McKays.. there are about 4 or 5 around here (St. Mary's County).. locally owned. Try calling some local grocery stores.. they seem to be more helpful than the large chains who want to "keep their secret buttercreme under wraps.." lol. Try Sam's Club if all else fails.

Dandelion- from what I hear.. WalMart is SUPER strict about not letting you buy their bettercreme.. but you can try it.... maybe there will be a newbie working that hasn't been versed in what is allowed and not allowed yet.. hehe.

Also, JanH posted yesterday that you can get pastry pride from Costco over the internet, or obviously in the store as well.

Hope that helps!

Thanks - Yes I'm in AA County so no McKays here icon_sad.gif but it's not an issue, like I said, I have a local cake store that's not that far from me, it was just something that I thought was worth giving a shot at since I have to go to the grocery store all the time thought it might be a bonus!! icon_smile.gif

thanks again!-

Well I work in Linthicum. So the Kake Kraft Korner is where I got to find all kinds of fun stuff!! Here is their website address: www.kakekraftkorner.net It's a tiny little shop that you could spend forever in! Here is their address: 7219 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Ferndale, Maryland 21061 You can't buy anything from their site and there are no pictures of anything they offer. They just have classes listed and specials that you can print off and take to the store to use. They are extremely nice and helpful there!

Yup - pretty close!! You should definitely go there just to check it out at least once. If you need a contact for Hi Ratio shortening (don't know if you use that or not) I can give you a resource for that also. It's in Hanover.

What kind of coffee creamer do I add to the Bettercreme, the powdered or liquid? Do I adjust something for consistancy... whiping time or maybe add something else???

Melvira where do you get your Bettercreme? I'm in Burlington. I have tried Hy-Vee, Fareway and a locally owned store and no one carries it.

I would suggest the liquid creamer. The powdered kind can get kind of grainy. You would be shocked how much liquid you can add to the bettercreme and have it not affect how it whips up!!

enoid: I get mine at TPC in Davenport. That's the only place I have found it. At Hy-Vee you can usually buy some of their prewhipped stuff right out of the bucket. They usually sell it by the pound. If you have trouble finding out, call and talk to the bakery manager! They are pretty good about this stuff. And they know all the rules!

Anyone used Costcos frosting and fillings?
I know I've read about Sams Club but I really don't need/want to belong to both clubs....
