Woo hoo, this cake is finally done. The bride wanted this cake. It was so time consuming and my hand got so tired but I finally got it done. I do know I will charge more next time. The bride was there while I was setting it up and loved it. Said it was exactly what she wanted so I guess it was worth it.
Here's a pic, let me know what you think. Oops wouldn't let me attach it, it;s in my photos if you want to look. ![]()

JoAnn--Thats beautiful!
Here's a similar one I did last fall

The scrollwork was on both front and back, so when you viewed it from the sides you could see a plain white V shape, very striking, or so many people told me!

The cake is beautiful. I haven't done scrollwork, but know what you mean about killing your hands. I have carpal tunnel & hope no one ever requests scrollwork. After I did Elmo's fur for my dd's bday I was in my hand braces for a few weeks & my hands were always numb.
Again great job!
Thank you everyone.
Jibbies, I have that cake saved to my favs. I absolutely love that cake. As much as I hate scroll work I have to say the effect is beautiful. My hat off to the decorators who do this kind of work. It definitely takes patience and a steady hand. LOL.
dandelion56602, I have carpal tunnel in my left hand, it kills me. I had the surgery for my right hand and no more pain or numbness. I was suppose to go back for my left hand but I can't afford another 6 weeks recovery time right now. I wear a brace on my hand at night or else I can't sleep but I find that it weakens my hand during the day.
