Hi ladies,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the monkey picture. It made me giggle and think "Wow" so I had to share it.

I've seen a couple of you talk about adopted or newly acquired children. My husband and I have been married for 13 years and don't have children yet. We really want them, but biology hasn't kicked in yet. We're on doctors orders to not get pregnant for 18 months post surgery so we have 12 months left to go before we can try again. We have seriously talked about adoption, but we want little children. So my question is how did you go about getting your little ones?

My official weigh in this morning was 286. Amazing really. That means I'm only 11 pounds from a reward.

I really want to make a cool Halloween Cake to practice my skills, but i'm not sure what to do with it once it's made. I'm thinking maybe the fire department, but I'd have to go back and pick up the plates and pillars when they were done with it. I'm afraid it might get lost since it's a free cake to them and they've never been asked to call me to come pick parts up. What do you ladies think I should do? I realy want to try one of the wilton cakes from this year's yearbook or last years. The ones that use the globe pillars and fondant to make adorable spiders or pumpkins.

Also, I didn't know how much I LOVED the smell of gingerbread until I made the demo houses for the store. Now I have a finished housed and a partial house on my dining room table. The smell is driving me insane. But I need to keep them in good shape, un eaten, for November/December class. CRAZY how much the smell makes me want to dig in and break off the roof to start gnawing on it. I MUST NOT GIVE IN. Will power is my friend. I can resist.

Enough for now, I'll check back again later.

You have nothing to be forgiven for. That is what we are here for. A place to talk it out, so we don't go eat everything in the house. icon_smile.gif

And let me just say... Thank god for nap time! Somedays it just doesn't come fast enough.

Please don't feel ashamed after reading my posts. I started this journey back in August and it has taken me until now to get around to setting goals. This is also a second time around for me when it comes to losing weight. I lost 25lbs two years ago. Kept 20 of it off for almost 2 years. At the beginning of the year I started regaining. I still have another 5lbs to go to get back to were I stopped before. I really feel more motivated this time than I did last time. And that is normal. We all want to lose weight, but sometimes we just aren't quite ready mentally to take all the steps to get us there at first.

It sounds like you have found something that is working for you and hubby. Keep it up!! And don't judge your weight loss off of hubby's. Men will lose faster because they have more mucsles to help burn the fat away. It isn't a contest, isn't about seeing who loses the most weight first. In the end you will both be in an healthier place and you will both get the rewards from that.

Isn't it interesting when you start seeing the things you do/did out of habit. Being upset about something making you run to the freeze for ice cream. Or being mad leads you to that bag of potato chips. When you realise your emotions are leading you to food, you are half way there to stopping it. Next up is doing no food related things until your mood passes.

Look on the bright side, now you don't have to deal with the in-laws for a little big longer. And as far as what they think, who cares! There are people that you can never please and it isn't worth doing back flips just to do it.

Two things come to play when cooking or eating with friends and family. They are in your house and you are cooking so they can eat what you are fixing. Yes it is nice to make something they like, rather than their most hated food but the dinner menu is your choice. Because we don't always have control of what is prepared we do have to learn also to eat only what we need to, not to feel guilt about leaving food on our plate, or just saying no to seconds or foods that don't fit into your healthy eating.

Just this week I went out to eat with family. 10 of us sitting at a table eating appetizers, dinner and some desserts. I split my salad with my grandma, only had half of my dinner and then one bit of dessert while everyone else enjoyed theirs. Sure I could have had dessert, especially after only eating half my food but in the end it just didn't seem worth it. Last night my dad offered me apple pie that I turned down.

Food is going to be thrown and pushed at all of us, especially now that the holidays are coming up. Some family and friends don't understand the dieting process. Even though my dad knows I'm eating heathly and does eat some healthy meals with me, he still has no clue on calories, how much and what things you should or shouldn't eat. What I have learned is if those around me want to eat something, let them. I'm only in control of my body and what they eat is not going to affect my body any. Only what I ate is.

In the last two weeks I haven't felt deprieved of food, even though I am eating alot less. My body is content because I am feeding it the right things and eating regular meals. It is getting alot easier to say no to those foods that are not productive to weight less. And when I do have something that isn't good for me, I am able to limit it to smaller portions and less often. I was telling my dad last night. I'll eat apple pie agian, just right now it doesn't seem worth it.

Deb, did you look at the calorie count on the side of the box? HeHe. I used hot glue to glue mine together at the store, since it saves me time, and makes it less apealing. People would ask if you can eat it and I'd think sure, but in my mind I keep thinking, yeeah they probably make all these kits in the summer and they just sit around until the holidays. icon_smile.gif

Congrats on the weight loss!!

I don't have any kids either. Well that or a hubby. I keep telling myself I'm waiting a little longer for the hubby. If I'm not married or close to it by 34, I'm looking into other ways to have kids.

As far as the cake you want to make, go for it. If you have taken them cakes before and ask really nicely I'm sure you can get your parts back. I'd also leave a ziploc bag tucked under the base with a note on which pieces to stick in it so you can get your parts back in.

Good morning!

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record (It's scary to think my kids are going to look at me one day and say "What's a record?"), but thank you all for being you and being here. This has quickly become my smile in the morning - along with the coffee, of course. It only takes a quick read to realize that each of you is a such beautiful soul. I am grateful for your acceptance of me into your monkey mob! GO CHUNKY MONKEYS!

EtC - Our adoption was private (the birth mom was a cousin), so we didn't have to go through a lot of the procedures that some people do. I'm afraid I won't be much help to you on that front. I do, however, know the emotional roller coaster that is infertility. So, I am here for you whenever you need me and I am praying for you.

No fair talking about gingerbread! Thinking about that smell - I LOVE the spices of fall/winter - nearly had me drooling on the keyboard! icon_lol.gif

Can't wait to see your Halloween cake! It sounds like you've taken things to the fire department before. Would you like to take it someplace else to try to drum up more business? You might find a business league that meets regularly. Here in our area, we have a ladies in business group that meets monthly, or maybe the local Jaycees or Lion's Club or something. One of those might have a contact person that you could coordinate with and would be responsible for collecting/returning your items.

AND there is more jiggling/happy dancing in the house today for your supercalifragilisticexpialidocious weigh-in (thank you, Lord, for cut and paste icon_lol.gif). Keep it up girl. You are rockin'!!

Mencked - I am so glad to know a fellow scavenger is on this thread. When I am upset or nervous or bored, I usually go on the hunt for some munchie or another. I am proud I kept it under control this time. Next time it happens, I'll just think of you ladies' "voices" coming out of that crazy monkey from EtC's picture sitting on my shoulder.

TS - Amen to the TGFNT! Congrats, too, on getting your eating habits under control. I am going to work hard to get myself into the mindset that you have.

You have made an important discovery that bears note, you know. We so often get into labelling food as good or bad. It's not the food, it's how we use it that is at issue. We so often say, "I can't have that." when we should be saying, "I could have that if I wanted to, but I want a healthy body more."

That monkey on my shoulder is going to be asking me all the time now, "Do you want that (not-on-the-plan-food) or do you want smaller jeans." I DEFINITELY want smaller jeans!!

Well, I hear the munchkins. Better go for now.

I wish each and every one of you a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (what can I say, it was still in my clipboard) day!

Well I typed up something yesterday but I guess it didn't go through.

I had some M&M's yesterday. icon_eek.gif It was just the small halloween package though and I'm blaming it on Aunt Flo! icon_redface.gif

I'm so tired and drained feeling today, so I'm going to have to avoid the kitchen as much as I can. I'd love a nap, but it's almost lunch time here, and baby girl is running around the room making noises. She's already had her nap for the day, so I missed my napping chance. Ah well.

I'm hoping my sweet potato hurries up and bakes, cause this girl is getting hungry! Can't decide what I want to have with it though. Sigh.

When me and my mom talk about calories it's always, how far we have to walk on the treadmill to work it off. When you know you have to walk two miles to burn off your fav starbucks coffee drink, it makes you want it less, atleast for me. icon_smile.gif

I'm hoping everyone has a great start to their weekend. For those of you working on cakes, don't forget you need to eat too! HUGS everyone!

I'm 20 and I have a 17 month old little Girlie!! Before I got pregnant I never weighed over 115.. (i miss those days).. I gained about 70 lbs while pregnant.. And Now I've lost A bunch of that weight.. I now weigh 145.. But would like to get back down to about 120.. if possible..
I think my problem is that I don't have enough motivation to exercise (walk, jog, ect).. And I'd like to be on a diet, But I haven't found a good one, and I don't want to spend a bunch of money on one either..

Any ideas? icon_sad.gif

TexasSugar - so how did you fix your sweet potato? I love them but I figured it would be way too many calories with the way I used to fix mine. Yummmm, they are sooooo good.

IloveEmmaCakes, first off, my opinion is to skip the diet. "Diets" are easy to throw aside and go back to old eating habits. If you want to make a change, what ever you do now has to be something you can do from now on.

I'm not sure what your routine is but I know with kiddos it can get really easy to not fix yourself a decent meal even though you make sure the little one sits down to eat.

You want to eat regular meals, three times a day and have one or two snacks. By eating regular meals it helps you from over eating when you do sit down to eat. Which means you will be eating less.

A few post ago I posted some links to figure out how many calories your body needs now, and you can plug in the numbers for the weight you would like to be and see how many calories you would need for it. If you start dropping calories now getting closer and closer to the number you need for your goal weight you can help your body burn more calories.

Go for foods low in calories and bad fats, but high in other things like protiens, fiber and vitamins. You can read 50 diet plan ideas and they will all say some of the same thing and some things that contradict each other. It's just a matter of finding balance and what works for you.

If you don't eat alot of veggies or fruit, you want to add those in. If you eat alot of junk or snack foods, you want to weed those out. Read the numbers on the back of everything you eat. It's real eye opening when you realise that that Tablespoon of butter you are smearing on your toast in the morning is adding 100 calories to your daily intake.

Finding motivation for exercise is hard for alot of us. In the book I am reading now they suggest finding something you enjoy doing. You may have to try out some things until you find it, but the idea is that if you find something you actually like doing you will do it more than something you hate doing.

It also says to schedule your exercise. Plan it into your day and don't skip the date you made with yourself. By finding something you like doing and by scheduling a time to do it, you will be more likely to do it then it will build into a routine.

Butternut, I love my a sweet potato with some butter, cinnamon sugar, caramel and some melted marshmallows. Can we say yummy? Of course we know that that way is just loaded with more calories than we even want to count up.

Right now I'm trying to cut back on buttering things. So the last few times I have had a baked sweet potato I have just sprinkled on some cinnamon and sugar (probably about 1/2 teaspoon). I know the sugar has calories in it, but it is alot less butter and sugar doesn't have fat like butter.

And you know what, a sweet potato tastes just as yummy with out all those other sweet, sugary, fattening toppings on it.

TS - sounds good... Have you tried the Parkay or the I just can't believe it's butter spray? I've got to go to the store again tomorrow and was thinking about buying some. I too love butter. Absolutely love it. But like you, I know it carries alot of calories. I just wonder how the spray tastes?

TexasSugar Cake Central Cake Decorator Profile

I haven't tried them yet. One of my friends uses the spray butter on veggies when she steams them. I'd just say check the calorie count on them to see what it is.

We have regular parkey and it is like 60 calories per tablespoon and then my dad uses the real butter spread that is 100 calories per tablespoon. The really adds up and takes away from the real food we can be eating. icon_smile.gif So for now I'm trying to give it up where I can. I'll add it back in later, in smaller amounts of I want to. I'm actually enjoying the real taste of veggies, rather than the coated in butter, cheese or other sauce covered up veggie taste. Amazing huh?

I'm doing the same with salad dressings. Before I would dump so much dressing on the salad that that was all you could taste. You can use less and still have plenty of taste from the veggies in the salads.

I've also used cooking spray on my grill cheese to cut out the butter on it. You still get the nice brown crunch on the grill cheese, just with less fat and calories. thumbs_up.gif

Hey girls!

Popped in to wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Trying to be really good about drinking enough water. While surfing on the subject, I found this article. I was interested in the explanation of the benefits. It's relatively short so I thought y'all might be interested in reading it, too.

http://www.tucsonmedical.com/pdf/drinking_water.pdf

Made my first cake since starting my new eating plan. The good news is that I didn't gain any weight over it and I wasn't as "nibbley" as usual. The bad news is I still got so wrapped up in working that I forgot to eat a real lunch and didn't drink enough water. No wonder I feel like poo after a day of cake decorating. I really am going to have to print off that monkey pic for the fridge!!

TS - I am totally sympathizing with you about the missed nap. icon_cry.gif If I want the kids to get up, all I have to do is lie down!!

We LOVE sweet potatoes! They are good for you, too. Do you use white sugar or brown sugar?

Well, hang in there ladies and don't forget to look in the mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you are! Hugs!

Welcome to the new ladies. It's so wonderful to add others into the support system we have created here.

I complete agree with TS. Don't diet, make choices that you can live with for the rest of your life. It will affect how you eat, how your spouse eats, how your kids eat and really make a life style change.

When you schedule your time to exercise, put it on your calendar like you do a dr. appointment or pedicure. Write it down and stick to it. If you have kids, consider sticking them in a stroller and taking them with you (walking outside or in a mall is what I'm thinking) or finding a gym with child care. When you are feeling icky ask yourself, am I too sick to work? If the answer is NO then you're probably not too sick to exercise either. Just do half the time or 1/4 the time you would normally do. This will help to keep you from cancelling your routine. And I know that in many cases when I'm not feeling good, if I force myself to get up and stick to my routine (aerobics on Tues and Thurs in particular) I have a lot less guild and actually feel better after easy exercise.

Today I had a study group for math. We agreed to meet at starbucks. Well, as I've said before, I don't get drinks from Starbucks unless I ride my bike. So I rode it. It felt good. It's been since school started basically that I've ridden it. But it was even easier this time thatn I remember it being then.

Also make sure you drink plenty of water! You don't want to feel like this poor little kitty do you?

Just checking in to say howdy! I had another late night cake decorating marathon last night and I kept thinking about what TS said--eat a good meal, and of course, I didn't! I just wanted to get done decorating--5 cakes for today--and so I ended up eating horribly again--a nibble of cake top, a nibble of frosting, but i still didn't eat as much as I used to! This week will be better!!!

Just checking in real quick before I have to get ready for class tonight.

I weighed in yesterday and am the same as last week. I didn't exercise like I needed to this last week, so I'm sure that's why. We will see what next week brings.

I've had the last two days off from babysitting so I have been using the time to work on cleaning my house. I finished the bathroom today, and have been cleaning out trash, boxes and junk from my cake room. I was telling my mom, that no body would be able to tell I did anything in there, but I know atleast.

I bought some really large plastic totes/containers yesterday. I plan to put all, or atleast most of my character/shaped/3d pans in them. Hopefully if I can get the cake room in order (big project) I can get the rest of my house in order.

Tomorrow if I don't have the baby I've promised my mom I will come over and help her clean out her closet. I told her she needed to pull everything out and be honest about what she will ever wear again. She has clothes that are not only out of style (from the 80's) but so not her size any more. They have a huge walk in closet and lets just say there is no more room on her side for anything. The clothes she has bought in the last year will not fit in there. Should be an interesting day. *rolls eyes*

I fully blame my mother for my being a pack rat. icon_smile.gif I'm trying to break away from it myself at my house, but it is not easy. Alot like trying to eat better. Figure if I am going to change one part of myself, I might as well work on other parts as well.

Hope everyone is having a good beginning to the week!

Has anyone heard from Krystyne lately??

Hey everyone. I've tried several times yesterday and today to get on but have been having problems. I did lose 2 more pounds last week so I'm pretty happy about that. Got 4 more pounds to go before I'm not considered "overweight" any longer. Of course it will mean that I'm on the "high" side of normal icon_rolleyes.gif I've managed to drink quite a bit of water over the last week. That's really a change for me because I have always hated water. I was drinking a fair amount of the Chrystal Light but I'm trying to get away from the aspartame. It hit me the other day how much equal I use in a days time. I use 3 equals in my coffee in the morning (large thermos type) and I use sugar free Coffee Mate as well. Then once I'm through with that I start drinking the Chrystal Light, etc. So, I think it's time to try to cut back on the artificial sweeteners and maybe before too long not have to have it in my coffee or tea at all. That's gonna be a challenge. TexasSugar, sorry to hear that the scales didn't budge this week but that just means that you'll really lose next week. I've lost 3 weeks in a row so I'm due for the scales to stay the same next week. Not trying to be negative but that's just the way my body does. I expected it yesterday. It's difficult when that happens but I guess we just have to go with the flow and march on. As the saying goes, it's all good..

Yay it works again! I've also been trying to use Cakecentral the last couple of days with little success.

I'm desperate to get my house clean and organized. My craft room and my bedroom are the "project" rooms for me. I have tons of crafts that I won't ever use again and I'm trying to figure out what is worth selling, keeping and throwing away or donating to a local school.

Weigh in day is tomorrow, but this week is "that week" again. I'm not sure if I'm happy that cycles are coming more regular or if I'm mad because the cramps, aches and weight are so annoying. I guess since pregnancy is one of the major reasons I wanted to lose weight and get healthy it's good that cycles are more regular the past few months. It means something is working right.

Is anyone planning on entering the Halloween Cake Decorating Contest here on Cake Central? I'm considering it. I'm also considering entering the Capital Confectioners' That Takes the Cake! Cake & Sugar Art Show & Competition February 28 and March 1, 2009. But I'm not sure what qualifies for Adult Beginner vs. Adult Intermediate. I think i'm a beginner but I'm not sure. I've never entered any kind of cake competition EVER. I'm not even sure I have any original ideas in my head. I look at so many pictures all the time.

I'm off to school. It's so nice to be connected again.

Love you monkeys, keep up the great work!

Butternut, congrats on the two pounds. *woo hoo* Happy Dance!

I wasn't sure what the scale would say. Of course I'm sad that it didn't change, but I know I could have done better. So I'm just moving on and looking towards next week.

Deb, I've thought about entering the show in Austin. I had seriously considered going to the OKSAS but it jsut wasn't possible this year. I'm hoping I can save enough between now and then for the Austin one. I haven't see the rule sheet or how they word the catergories, but I know for the OKSAS I would have had to enter as a Semi Pro (because I'm a WMI) even though I felt like the group under it. If you aren't sure which one you are suppose to be in, you may want to write and ask them.

I haven't entered one either. I do have an idea of I cake I think I would do if I did though. As far as the orginal idea, there really aren't that many out there. It is okay to take different ideas and put them together to come up with your own design. Or look outside the world of cake decorating and find something that you think would be neat translated in to cake.

Good luck on your weigh in. I can so feel ya on the pain and cramps. I don't think it is fair that women have to go through all that but what else do you do? I woke up in the middle of the night last week with major cramps. Took some advil and snuggled up with a heating pad to get some more sleep. Oh what fun it is to be a woman...

This may sound crazy 'cause I haven't been with you guys that long, but I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!

I can totally sympathize with the pack rat syndrome! My hubby and I are both pack rats - and we come by it honestly. Our place is quite small and that makes it even worse for "storing" stuff.

You are all getting the purge bug in me stirring again - thanks sincerely for that. If you come up with some good ideas/tips for getting it done, please let me know, especially with the craft stuff. Every time I open my craft closet, a wave of guilt comes rolling out from all of the un/partially finished projects. EtC, can you tell me how you decide what to do with your craft stuff?

I've have heard that financial burden and house clutter, etc. mirror your body - lose those things, lose the weight. Do you think that's true?

Yeehaw, butternut. Congrats on the 2 pounds!! I'm excited for you. It must be thrilling to see the normal range within reach! Also, a big pat on the back for trying to ditch the aspartame. Do you add anything else to your plain water like lemon or lime?

This morning was my weigh-in and I am also down 2 pounds. I am happy to see smaller numbers, but I'm swollen and that bugs me. I am drinking plenty of water and really watching my salt, and I know it's not the female thing, so...am I missing something?

Hope you enter the Halloween contest, EtC! You can do it!!

TS mentioned other things besides cake for inspiration, so I tried to think of a few things that might work. Here are a few I thought of, but I'm hoping you guys can give me some more ideas - gift bags, greeting cards, wrapping paper, scrapbook paper, fabric. I also have heard of designers using wedding dresses for inspiration - guess that falls under fabric. Also, didn't one of the big shows have cakes based on a china pattern once?

Keep your fingers crossed for me, if you would. I'm doing my first wedding cake this weekend. I don't know what has me more nervous, making the cake or trying to find something to wear to the reception!

Oops! I guess the coffee was super strong this morning! Sorry for going on in such a way. I really did miss you all.

You all are so busy and do so much and are so dedicated to your weight reduction goals. Thank you for being such good role models and such an inspiration to me. I can't say enough how grateful I am to have found you. Blessings to you all. You are beautiful!! GO CHUNKY MONKEYS!

Today was weigh day. And the news is..... thumbsdown.gif I'm up again. I'm at 292. I'm hoping it's mostly from girly stuff, but it could also be the coconut chocolate mounds I made. Overall I'm in good shape for monthly weight loss though.

I have sort of bad medical news and i'm not sure how to take it yet. My arterial walls are thicker than normal. There is medication to help, but it's not recommended if pregnancy is in the forseeable future. I'm happy that I don't have to any pills for it. But it means I have to really watch cholesterol and saturated fats in my diet. I already watch carbs, protein and calories. Now I have to watch 2 more things. This makes me a little sad. There is also a little bit of protein in my urine which means my kidneys are working too hard or not quite hard enough. This can be treated with agressive diabetes management. It just all gets so overwhelming sometimes.

Nanikins - I will be sure to let you know how I decide to get rid of and sort stuff once I tackle the room again. I know for a fact that I'm keeping my glass beads and jewelry making stuff, my cake stuff for sure, but none of that is kept in my craft room.

I'm also considering changing churches. I like my church a lot and I'm getting some great support and spirtual guidance out of it, but I think the congregation is just too big. Also my husband is convinced he wants to go back to a Lutheran church. Just so much going on these days.

And I have to finalize the colors I want to paint the outside of the house. I'm pretting sure it's going to be chocolate milk and wild horse trim with a great red door, but I'm also leaning towards the pale green with avocado trim. Wish me luck on these decisions. icon_wink.gif

Love you ladies, oh and don't ever apologize for posting a long post. We don't mind!

Great to hear from everyone!! Deb, I'm sorry about your health worries--I'm praying for you and hope you get to the church you're supposed to be at! Nanikins, I just love to read what you write--good luck on the wedding cake and finding something to wear--both are equally nerve wracking!! OK I'm having one of those goofy days--I started out by washing my hair with body wash (grabbed the wrong bottle), then followed up by using shampoo for my body. Then I wandered to the closet to find that none of my pants that fit were clean--and this is a happy problem because they don't fit because they're too big--yeah!! It's finally gotten cold here and so I've been attempting to wear pants that I haven't tried on in a year and it's kind of an encouragement to keep up the weight loss attempts! So today I'm wearing crop pants, a sweater and flip flops and it's raining and about 50 degrees-yes, I'm at work in public view--YIKES!!! --But I'm a happy Chunky Monkey!!! Go Chunky Monkeys!!

nanikins, I wish I had some great advice on this one, but I'm kinda going at it blind myself. My main focus is my 'cake room' right now. I'm pretty much pulling everything out of it, then I will move some shelving units in, and put everything back, hopefully neater, in plastic containers. It's so hard for me to get rid of cake stuff, even if I haven't used it in a while. I do have a box near by for those things that I know I can get rid of, usually things I have multiples of.

Everything else is being sorted out in to boxes depending on what it is. Candy stuff is going together, cookie stuff is going together, fondant stuff is going together. This is just a quick sort for me. I do plan on resorting everything better after I find out just how much I have of everything and what size containers will fit things better.

For other crafts items, if you have mixed things, I'd probably start with sorting them into groups based on the crafts. As you do this if you find things you know you can get rid of have a 'to go" box and a trash box near by. And then from there you can sort through each craft.

I know I have to ask myself the big questions...
Will I really ever use this?
Why am I holding on to this?
What in the world is this for?

HeHe icon_eek.gificon_lol.gif

My house has become the catch-all some how. After I moved out my dad went through their kitchen and things he didn't want any more got sent to my house. Also with the phrase "If you don't want it garage sell it". My brother moved and he gave me things he didn't need any more. Then he moved agian, in with his GF and they gave me anything they have repeats of. And of course I like a good deal so I've bought things for a good price that I have never used.

It all adds up! As you can tell from my house. I'm basicly just taking it one room at a time. Since the cake room has the most stuff, and that stuff is all currently scattered through out my house it got picked first.

"I've have heard that financial burden and house clutter, etc. mirror your body - lose those things, lose the weight. Do you think that's true?"

I've heard this to, and I do think there is some truth in it. I know how I feel affects how clean my house is, and how clean my house is affects how I feel. I figure if I clean up my surrounds it may help me clean up other parts of my life. I mean who doesn't love a clean house and always feel better when their house is clean?

Deb, I'm sorry to hear about the DR's report. Don't let it overwhelm you. It's a good thing that you are already watching carbs/protien/calories, because now while you have to look at two more numbers you are in the habit of looking at the numbers. I'm wondering if what you are eating isn't already lower in fats than you think if you have been watching cals. It the thicker walls something you have always had or something that has just built up? If it has just built up do they get thinner again?

Don't worry about that scale. Sometimes I think it plays tricks on us! It just needs to throw us in a loop every now and then. It could very well be both the mounds and Aunt Flo. Also if you didn't drink alot of water the day before your weigh in or had more salt than usual, that can affect your weigh in.

You sound like you have alot going on in your life right now. Good luck with the churches and the paint picking colors.

Mencked, it sounds like it's time for you to go pants shopping! Woo Hoo!! icon_smile.gif Don't worry about your outfit. Here in Texas we can be wearing shorts one day and a sweatshirt the next so your outfit would fit in fine. HeHe.

I haven't had baby this week, which means I've been more productive cleaning, but it also means I've been off schedule for eating. So this week I have been finding myself looking around the kitchen for something to graze on more than I have. Even though I've already dealt with Aunt Flo, I'm just feeling off this week. At this rate I doubt there will be a change on the scale next week either.

Have a good Thursday!

Jessica--Welcome back!!! Way to go on joining a gym and getting that trainer lined up--I would love to have one-it's just not in the cards right now-maybe someday! TC-I too am getting ready to clean out my cake stuff and get organized--I'm in the process of getting legal and I can't wait to get it out of my house and into my bake shop. Now I need a business name--do any of you guys have suggestions? There's always Diane's Cakes or Cakes by Diane, but I'd love to have something more catchy. OK--I know we're supposed to be encouraging each other on weight loss, but I'm really excited about my new endeavor!! Thanks guys!! Go Chunky Monkeys!

Hey!

Taking a 2-minute break from cake to check in while the kids are lunching. Hope everyone is doing well. Weather is dreary here and that always makes for difficulties. The kids are especially..mm..energetic today and I'm trying to work on my first wedding cake. It's also my first time using cake dummies and boy am I feeling like one - dummy, that is.

At least I'm not chewing a hole through the pantry door while stressing out - it is only lunchtime, though, and the kids have Goldfish... Just kidding. I promise to be strong.

Congrats on the gym Jessica! Remember Sleeping Beauty? For me, instead of "someday my prince will come" it's "someday my personal trainer will come". Good luck and you go girl!!

Diane - I'm SO thrilled for you! Congrats on getting your very own shop!! (Insert more sleeping beautyish someday dreaming here.) I will think about names a little, but here's one off the top of my head: Diane's Delectible Designs - you could have a logo that is three D's of graduated sizes stacked on one another and embellished like a wedding cake. Sorry, my affinity for alliteration is showing. I'll keep thinking.

Cross your fingers for me finishing this wedding cake without eating through the house and losing all my hair - I would hate to go to the reception bald!!

Hugs to everyone! Go Chunky Monkeys!

Diane, If i was closer to you, I'd totally come help you in the shop. I really LOVE doing cake. and I'm going to school now to be a teacher, but all I can think about is all the cake ideas I have and all the cakes I don't get done. I'm not sure I can afford to open my own shop yet. But would LOVE to work for someone I knew. I tried working in Sam's club bakery, I lasted all of 8 days before I left screaming and crying and pulling out my hair.

Nanikins - Good luck on the cake. You better share pictures when you get it done. =)

Jessica - I think it was - gratz on the trainer. I got a coupon for a free personal trainer session from my gym. I think I might check it out. Although with the eating issues my energy level is so low. I can't wait for monday to get this addressed finally.

Yay! I survived! Forgive the off-shoot from weight related issues, but I am SO happy to be done with my first wedding cake. I didn't tell you, but it was for one of my DH's office mates. She was invited 200-300 people to the reception, but only wanted cake for about 30. (She said most everyone would be gone by cake cutting time and they didn't want lots of leftovers) So, the bottom layer only was cake, the middle and top layers were dummies - my first work with cake dummies - ACK!

I wasn't particularly thrilled with it, but I can only get better. I didn't charge too much, and am likely to get some referrals from it. Most importantly, I learned A LOT...and I still want to do more.

We went to the reception and at 8:00pm they go to cut the cake and there were at least 100 people waiting around - what? not 30? After the ceremonial cutting, they started cutting and serving cake and the slices got smaller and smaller and smaller....they really should have just had everyone come by with a fork - one forkful per person! Also the server just ripped all the fondant off before cutting it.

Anyway, they liked it and I am now breathing again. The good news is I peeked at the scale this morning and didn't stress myself into gaining a couple extra pounds this week.

So, having had to figure out what to wear to this shindig, I'm now curious. Do you have a "when I hit my goal I'm going to wear this" outfit? What is it? Is it in your closet already or waiting for the celebratory shopping spree?

Thanks for all of your support. Knowing you guys were here kept me out of munchie mode during the "I just want to pull out my hair and eat a gallon of pralines and cream ice cream" moments. Hugs and gratitude to you all. Have a terrific week! VIVA LA CHUNKY MONKEYS!

That cake is BEAUTIFUL!!! You did a great job and I am so proud of you!!! Way to go!! Isn't it a wonderful feeling when you are completely done with the wedding cake and the set up and then when people start complimenting you (which I'm sure they did!!!!!)--What a feeling! You are very talented and I'd love to see more of your cake pics!!! I've never even done a cake dummy yet! I know I need to invest in some but up to now I've just told everyone that wanted one that I'd charge the same for dummies or real cake and that real cake freezes really well icon_smile.gif. It's mostly been a storage issue up until now, but I really need to get some!!!
As for goal weight clothes--when I get there--I have so many clothes to wear on my way down that I honestly can't imagine what size I will actually be when I get there--I really will have to go shopping, but like Deb, I'm just going to buy enough to get by until I hit that goal. I can't wait to go shopping in the regular size shops instead of those "big gal" specialty shops....someday!!!!
Once again I'm so proud of you Stacy!!!! Way to go my Chunky Monkey friend!!
