stacy, it's beautiful! be proud of yourself!
i did 35 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and boy am i sore!! i sure do feel the burn!
Hi ladies! I'm back from Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo. It was such a wonderful trip. We walked a lot. Some of the places at the zoo are pretty steep to climb and with a stroller and a little one inside it made for a pretty good workout. We logged over 35,000 steps each day
. Tried to eat as healthily as I could but I wasn't going to obsess over it. Didn't gain any weight but didn't lose any weight either, really didn't expect to either. Hubby is going out of town this whole week, so I'm not really going to be able to workout so I will have to be a little better on the eating part.
That cake was beautiful and you deserve Kudos (insert applause, applause!!) I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed week! I'm really tired and hope I get a chance this week to log on.
Diane--Have a extra special day! I hope everything is going well. I like the pants not fitting. Great feeling isn't is, Empress Monkey?
Sorry I'm rambling. Hopefully I will make better sense when I get some sleep.
Hey ladies! Just stopping in for a moment. I have skimmed posts but will go back later this evening and read and comment. I did see the wedding cake picture, it is gorgous!! ![]()
I stayed busy cleaning some more this weekend. Was able to get the two shelving units out of my living room and finally into the cake room. The cake room still has boxes I need to go through and a book shelf of books that I need to deal with. But 3/4ths of the room is in order. Of course I still have other stuff to go into the room.
I spent the afternoon yesterday cleaning the living room. Pretty much did "spring cleaning" on it. Vacumned, cleaned the baseboards, window sills, moved the couch to clean behind and under it. Was looking for the cat's plastic ball toys. I'm still missing about 2 dozen of them. ![]()
I'm off to go clean some more, but I'll post again tonight!
HUGS Monkeys! I've missed ya!
Jessica, welcome back. I keep debating the gym thing but seriously don't think it I'd go right now. I have access to my mom's treadmill and have looked up exercises I can do at home until I get to that point. So kuddos to you for doing that and getting the PT. Good luck with him/her.
Stacy, you did an awesome job on the cake! So pretty.
As far as clothes go, I have no idea what size I will be when I get done. I posted a while back asking short women around my goal weight what size they wore and it varied quite a bit, so it's hard to plan for a future 'size'. I do currently have some shirts that I bought a few months ago, that while I could wear now they will look better when I lose weight. If you have many sizes to drop I don't see anything wrong with buying an item or two, maybe a smaller pair of pants, so when what you do have gets too big or you just want to see if you can zip up the smaller size you have them. But I'm trying to avoid having alot of 'skinny' clothes because I really don't know what parts of my body are going to be skinner, and even if it is a smaller size it doesn't mean it will look good on my body when I get to that size. I'm looking forward to buying new clothes when I get my goal weight. I'll be sad that I may have to get rid of alot of cute tops between now and then, but I'll get over it. ![]()
Deb, did you get any news from the doctor? How is the eating going? Any better yet?
Diane, lucky you on getting legal! If I had the money to do that I'd open a cake supply shop with a classroom and a legal kitchen. Focusing more on the classroom and supply issue. Just think of all the room you will have at home when move it all. ![]()
Ladyellam, sounds like a fun trip with some exercise involved. I think not gaining on a vacation is a sucess. A vacation should be about splurging and treating yourself a little bit. Good luck on your eating this week!
I didn't spend as much time cleaning this afternoon as I should have. I moved more plastic containers back into the 'cake room'. I really should go through the stuff that is going back in there, but right now I have stuff pilled up everywhere and no place to sort things out. I'm just trying to get the cake stuff neatly out of the rest of the house so I can actually clean those rooms up.
Does anyone else feel that cleaning is just moving things from one place to another? When I was cleaning the living room I moved everything that didn't belong in it into other rooms. I think one of the reason's I didn't get as much done this afternoon is that I don't have alot of free space left in the kitchen for the things that are in the dining room that don't belong in there. And I do know (in my head) that when I get through cleaning the rooms those items that don't have a home need to go, but in true pack rat style, I'm sure I'll box them up for that 'maybe one day use'. ![]()
I didn't weigh in today. I ended up not having baby and didn't make it over to my mom's this morning to use her scale. I had decided I would weigh in tomorrow, but we are having saurkraut for dinner tonight, so I'm not sure tomorrow will be the best weigh in day either. I may just skip this week. It isn't like I am expecting to lose this week.
So much to reply so I'll just post what's on my mind.
I met with the surgeon yesterday. He did an "unfill" on the band. He removed .5cc. The great news is I can EAT again and no more throwing up. I'm so thrilled. I am getting the full feeling without the ill feeling so I'm very happy.
I haven't done any cleaning in the last week or so. I've just been so overwhelmed with everything and run down from lack of proper eating. I forsee better things in the next couple of months. Not to mention we have company coming the 2nd week of November so I'll have to get at least a couple parts of the house cleaned up.
My immediate to do list is to finish the Fondant and gumpaste sample cake for the store, also to put together the gingerbread sample board for the store. I've been thinking about entering the halloween cake contest here, but I have no reason to make a halloween cake. I bought a couple of dummies this week and I have 24 black rose bases sitting waiting to become roses out of fondant if I decide to decorate the dummy and submit for the contest. It just seems like a lot of work for a book and practice.
I got the rules for the That takes the cake competition in Austin. I'm still not sure if I'm a beginner or intermediate. I'm also not sure if I can enter royal icing in place of buttercream for the "buttercream" category. I have to ask more questions.
As far as weight, I was down 13 lbs from the last doctor visit, but still up at 290ish. I have no doubt that i'll lose more now that I can eat the proper foods.
More later, i've got to head to class.
Just got a sec to check in before dinner...
I'm so glad that you popped in to let us know how you are doing! You have been on my mind all day!! I was starting to get a little worried. I'm so glad you can eat again. I bet you'll be feeling stronger and more energetic now.
Hope this is the first step toward an amazing healing experience for you! Hugs to you.
Deb, I'm so gald you are able to eat again! Woo Hoo! Hope you had a good class. Mine finished 30 mins early tonight. Woo Hoo!
Hello all. I hope everyone's week is going well. Deb, I'm so glad that you are feeling so much better now. That must have been terrible.
Well, the weather has definitely turned cooler now and my mind keeps wandering to homemade rolls, chili and beef stew.
Problem is that all of my favorite recipes are so full of calories. Gotta work on trying to reduce those calories and still have a tasty meal. Otherwise, I'm gonna start feeling so deprived, I may just cave.
Nope, not gonna do that!!! I've come too far to do that but it sure is tempting. I really didn't expect to lose anything this past week because I had lost 3 weeks in a row but I did manage to lose a pound. Nothing to jump up and down about but hey, better than nothing, right? I am really having problems though with cutting back on the Equal sweetener. I didn't realize how bitter things like tea and coffee are with no sugar. This is gonna take some time..... I'm gonna keep looking for some really good low cal meals and when I find some I will post them to the appropriate thread. Have a great day everyone....
Margie
Congrats, Margie on the pound. Any smaller number on the scale is a very good thing and you should be proud. I started using ground turkey in my chili this year. It tastes great and is naturally lower in fat - often cheaper than ground beef, too. Win, win, win!! Can't wait to see some of the yummy recipes you find.
Today's weigh in found me down 1.8 pounds. Looks like a may be getting a little better at that steady part. Keep your fingers crossed!
Hope you are all having a great week so far.
GO CHUNKY MONKEYS!!
Thanks Stacy. Congrats on your almost 2 pound loss. That's GREAT!! I've never used any meat in my chili other than ground beef and hot italian sausage. Yep, my chili is loaded with calories
I think I'll check to see if my grocery store sells the turkey meat. That would help reduce it. Thanks for the suggestion. Now suddenly I'm craving KFC. OH me, I've got to get into another mind frame. This could be dangerous
I must be going through some kind of withdrawls or something. Be strong, Margie, be strong.....
I LOVE LOVE LOVE chili. I don't make it from scratch though. I've been reading labels I found that the Bush's chili has a lot less cholesterol than my old favorites (Wolff brand). I always get meat chili, occasionally I get without beans. For me protein is the #1 source for most of my meals. Carbs are 2nd if there is room after the protein. I like ground turkey, but my husband doesn't. One thing I've found is if I mix 1 lb turkey with 1 lb very lean beef or even pork I get a nice flavor.
At the store this week I had to get pasta and rice. Since they are staples we always have and I was out. I chose some brown rice and whole grain thin spaghetti. Hopefully they are just as tasty as other stuff. Although in my cooking experience those are just the soakers for the sauces so they should be great!
Weigh day Wednesday was 289 on the scale. So down 2 lbs from last week but still up from my recent low of 286. But I'm able to eat again so the food choices are much better overall.
I so appreciate the support you ladies provide. It's just wonderful to check in and be with friends.
Wow-everyone is doing great!!! I was just going to comment that as far as whole grain pasta goes, Barilla (yellow box) is really good if you have that in your local grocery store. I've also found that Mission brand Whole wheat tortillas or their (I think this is the name) carb control brand of tortillas are really good and good for you--mega high in fiber! I've also found that I really like brown rice--I told earlier of tricking my husband by making spaghetti sauce with ground turkey--he just thought I hadn't added as much brown sugar as I usually did when I make sauce....I eventually caved and told him I'd used turkey instead of our usual sausage....he said, "I knew something was different!!" Now he's the food police--"what's in this, does this taste different...." Kind of funny! I feel like I'm really getting back on track today. My 10 yr. old is having a sleep over tonight with 2 of her friends so I'm trying to get enthusiastic about that--I'm such a different mom for her than I was with my 2 older kids (now 21 and 19). I think I was more fun then, but I was a SAHM then too..... Go Chunky Monkeys!!
Well Ladies,
It's late on friday night. I have a cake in the kitchen that is baked and cooled for a project I'm doing for sunday. I broke down and bought the Wilton Giant Cupcake pan. It was being clearanced, but it's not a very big or impressive cupcake once it's all baked and trimmed and such. I might have to make regular cupcakes to supplement the darn thing.
I have an interview on Saturday to be a part time decorator at Baskin Robbins. Baskin Robbins was my first job in High School and was really the inspiration behind me wanting to decorate cakes as an adult. I just never really pursued it until this past year. It will be very neat if I get the job. A few hours a week wouldn't kill me, I'd get practice and a pay check. Not to mention I can pretty much set my hours as long as the cakes are done (according to the ad anyway). The bad part is that being around so much yummy ice cream all the time is deadly to the thighs and hips.
I am actually sitting down at my desk right now getting ready to update my photos, my web page, and set updates to family about more recent cakes. I'm thinking I might just have to post a few more here on CC also. I'd really love your honest feedback if I ever get them uploaded. =)
Anyway, no weight news today. Just a little tired and feeling guilty for not working out enough.
Anyway, love you all. OH yeah, I almost forgot. I was watching Chain Reaction today on Game Show Network. And the chain was Chunky Monkey Business (forget the last word in the chain). But seeing the first 2 words made me think of all of my wonderful friends here on this thread.
with love,
Deb
Deb, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one pulling a late-nighter! Just finished my grandmother's birthday cake. I made two spools of thread - one chocolate cake, one vanilla and put a fondant needle and thread and buttons on the board with them. Now I have to get some sleep before we take the 3 hour trip to take it to the party!
I wondered about that cupcake pan. Sorry it was a bit of a disappointment for ya.
I can't wait to see some of your cakes!! I bet they are gorgeous. I am considering uploading some of mine just to kind of chronicle my progress - well, I hope it's progress anyway.
Baskin Robbins sounds like a great opportunity. Good luck to you there.
Hope you are feeling better these days. Are you still able to eat better than before? You hang in there! I'm sending you lots of positive, healing thoughts and chunky monkey hugs.
Well, better get a little sleep, still have to pack a few things in the morning. Have a terrific weekend!!
GO CHUNKY MONKEYS!!
Stacy and Deb I hope you both upload pics soon--I'd love to see your work! Stacy the cake you described above sounds awesome--Please post!! I was up last night late too and read your entries, but just couldn't muster up the gumption to type anything
. I was working on a 2 tier anniversary cake with my second attempt at gumpaste leaves--when I was placing them on the cake I wished that I'd colored the gmpaste in deeper colors--instead they're kind of muted fall colors brushed with bronze dust--gave a shiny kind of finish--pretty, but I hope it matches the rest of their decorations!! I only had 1 cake this week--kind of weird, kind of nice! However when my friends ask how many cakes I have going and I say just one, they then say, "what's up with that?!" then I feel like I should be doing more business, but I feel I can't really advertise til I get moved in and legal and so I'm relying totally on word of mouth at this point--oh well, I guess every business has it's up weeks and down weeks. Sorry for the rambling, but you guys know what it's like! And I always say I'm thankful for the busy weeks and thankful for the slow weeks so I can get caught up on everything I have to neglect when it's busy!
I'm back to eating healthy again this week and I feel so much better! Now I need to get back to walking everyday--My daughter is bringing a bunch of college friends home next weekend so I need to get busy on the house too--another slow week as far as cakes go, but I need that extra time to clean and hey, cleaning is good exercise
.
I thought of you guys yesterday. I took my youngest daughter and a couple of her friends to see High School Musical 3 (great movie--I'm afraid that for a woman old enough to be his mother, I think Zac is too cute). Anyway-we were killing time before the movie in Claire's and there were these cute monkey face slippers!! It seems that I see monkeys everywhere now! Go CHUNKY MONKEYS!!
I posted lots of pictures last night. Give me your thoughts on them.
I had an interview today (Saturday) to decorate cakes at Baskin Robbins. I'm really excited about this. It's mass decoration, but it's a lot less stress than a grocery store chain. And it's supposed to be part time. And they change out their designs for the holidays. I was looking at the cakes they have in their freezer now and all i can say is YUCK. Their borders weren't clean and the basic decorations were not well done. I hope they offer me a job. Since I don't want to open my own shop right now, this seems like a good next option. I can work my skills and not keep investing my money in supplies that aren't making any profit.
Eating today was a challenge. I was so excited about being able to eat the first few days after my appointment, and the last 2 days it's been back to the bad stuff. I'll go back to softer foods and soups for a couple of days, reteach myself how to chew and take extremely small bites and hopefully get back on track again. Such a pain really.
I also haven't done any exercise to speak of in weeks. I really should redirect my Tues and Thurs energy to school and not think about how many other things I want to get done instead. Then I can hopefully get back into the aerobics routine.
Anywho, Love you ladies and I'll catch ya later.
Hey ladies, sorry I have been MIA! I've had a break from baby duty for the last two weeks, which means I have been off schedule as well. I haven't gotten my 3 meals a day and all that good stuff. UGH! Totally my fault since it was just nice and easier to sleep in than to get up and make breakfast.
I've been cleaning house, and have done well there. So even though I haven't walked lately either I have been busy to burn some calories.
I haven't weight since the 13th. I am going to weigh in the morning. I don't think I have lost any more weight, but I also don't think I have gained. We will find out soon enough.
It's time for me to get back on track so you should see more of me around here hopefully.
Hope everyone is doing well! HUGS to my chunky monkey sisters.
Official weigh in day is 287.
I had some tooth work a while ago and finally got around to getting the darn thing capped. Well the cap is too long and I can't chew food up very well. So until the permanent cap gets in and installed I think I'm looking at liquid or super soft food. Not chewing isn't an option.
Such drama.
I'm also still trying to convince myself to finish a cake I started for the Halloween contest. I hate what I've got already. =(
Deb, so sorry to hear about the tooth. I had the same problem with the temporary crown and I called the dentist and he told me to come back in and they would shorten it. They did and I could eat again. Maybe they can fix the problem so that you don't have to wait unti the permanent one is ready. What a pain!!
Well, I had a pretty good week last week. Lost another 2 pounds so I'm pretty happy about that. I am no longer classified as "overweight" so I'm doing a happy dance. I am now on the highest end of normal. So, 32 pounds down and 15 to go to actually reach my goal. Hope everyone else is happy with their progress too. I still haven't had much time to look over recipes. I really want to get some together and share and I promise I will as soon as my hubbys business slows down a little bit. But ya know what? I'm still craving that darned KFC!!! ![]()
Butternut, I was just looking at your photos and i ADORE your classic aesthetic. Those are the kinds of cakes I want to decorate and design but I get side tracked with trends.
Deb, that was so kind of you to say. Thank you soooooo much. I really need to get back into making some more cakes. Honestly, I couldn't tell you when the last time was that I made and decorated a cake. I don't know why but I just stated getting away from it and now I'm so busy working that there doesn't seem to be any time for it. I had really wanted to take some classes but the timing never worked out for me. Your cakes are fabulous. I hope to venture out a little bit when I do get back into decorating. Thanks again for the compliment.
Hey, gals!
OK. Finally back from travelling and recovered enough to be marginally coherent...I hope. No weight loss this week, but I wasn't expecting it after my trip, so...this week will be better.
Deb - looked at your cute pics. Your lovely work has reminded me how much I've forgotten from the time I took the Wilton courses a couple of years ago. I am shamed into breaking out my old course books, whipping up some frosting and trying to see if I can still pipe a rose....pray for me!
Have you heard anything about the BR job? I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Sorry to hear about your tooth. You are always in my thoughts, I hope you know. My MIL has achalasia which means her muscles basically do what the band does to you on your bad days. It's no fun when you can't get food down well and you are limited in what you can get down. You hang in there.
Woohoo on the weigh-in! Under 290 for good! YAY!
AND get your butt in there and finish that Halloween cake!!! I'm dying to see it!
TS - congrats on the break from baby and getting so much accomplished! Double congrats on getting to sleep in!!! Glad you are getting back on track.
Margie - you GO girl!!! I'm so proud of you! I am afraid to say that, no matter what I weigh, nobody will EVER put me on the high, low, or any side of normal. If you really want KFC, don't deprive yourself until you go eat a whole 12 piece bucket and family size mashed taters w/ gravy by yourself. Go get the smallest meal you can get, eat it real slow and I bet half way through you'll want to quit - or you'll at least get your fix and be able to stop thinking about it.
Divine Miss M - A big pat on the back to you for eating better this week. It's amazing how our bodies reward us for doing the right things and punish is for not.
You sound like you are SUPER busy, whether you have cakes or not! Hope you enjoy your visit with your daughter and her friends.
I have uploaded the pics of the cakes I've done since starting back to decorating - about the time I found this site. Not much to see yet, I'm afraid. I don't have the pics of the thread cake yet, will let you know when I do. My mom and sis couldn't believe I got the idea from my own feeble brain - gotta love family.
I have had a horrible case of the munchies since I got back from my trip. Anyone got any good ideas for combating them?
Thanks again to each of you for being so wonderful and supportive and full of good advice - you are such a blessing to me! GO CHUNKY MONKEYS!
Munchy solution:
Sugar Free jell-o. It's basically free food, no calories really and cures my sweet tooth usually.
If you want crunchy try carrots or celery, although celery has fewer calories/carbs.
If you want salty, how about a couple of saltines with pnut butter. It's not too bad for you if you only have 2 crackers with a teaspoon of p-nut butter on each.
I hope that helps.
Thanks so much for checking out my pictures. I'm staring at my drop string ghost wondering if it's a ghost or a spider web. I made some royal icing decorations last night. I've got a giant cupcake cake going to waste in the fridge. I made a batch of MMF yesterday and it has had time to set and I just made a single batch of Buttercraem for the BC layer under fondant and to glue the cupcake top to the bottom. I'm just not sure what I want to do next. I also have almost 2 dozen black rose bases ready to made into roses, but no petals, buds or flowers started. I have too many ideas fighting to come out and feel a bit of the overwhelm taking over. ![]()
I haven't heard from the guy at BR yet. But it's Indian New year and he's got company all week. I don't expect to hear anything for another couple of days. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes, if they make an offer.
I agree with Nanikins, don't deprive yourself. Allow yourself a small meal or just 1 piece. You know you can buy them one piece at a time. Force yourself to go inside so you get extra exercise if you want. I've been forcing myself to ride my bike to get Starbucks and so far I've only let myself down twice in that regard. Not bad since I've had that rule since the end of August and it used to be a stop I'd make once or twice a week. When my husband and I first stopped eating fast food as frequently, we refused to go through any drive thrus. That helped us a lot to break the habit. We use the drive thru now, but we only get fast food maybe twice a month.
Thanks for the suggestions, Deb. I may have to try all of those this week!
Do you sketch your cake ideas at all? It might be helpful for you, if your brain is swarming with ideas.
I can't draw a straight line to save my life, but I still try to do a rough sketch of what my brain envisions. That helps me figure out what I want and what I need to do to get it. After I sketch, I make a list of what I need to do and then I can number those things, or at least check them off.
In business they say, "If it isn't in writing, it didn't happen." but for me it's, "If it isn't in writing, it probably won't happen."LOL Hubby thinks I'm a list junkie, but I'm not....really....I'm not....
Stacy,
I'm no artist, but I did just that and did a quick sketch.
I was going to share what i came up with, but I think the rules say you can't solicit votes in the forums so I'm going to keep my idea on my paper and put it on the cake and when the voting is done I'll share my picture with you ladies.
I'll just say my husband's response is "youre a little weird"
HA
Love you monkeys.
Deb--Weird is good!!!! Go for it! I'm home today with my sick girl--and she is feeling a little better so I'm getting lots done--I just love being at home!! I miss being able to piddle around
! And believe me there is lots of piddling that needs to be done in this house!! YIKES! I've gotten a chance to look at some of your cake pics Deb and Butternut--you guys are really good--
Deb--I especially love your flower work--they are awesome but your boob cake was jaw dropping!! My husband is always willing to give his opinion on those kinds of cakes and you got a big thumbs up on that one
!!!
Butternut--You are amazingly talented--I love your work and hope you get the chance to do more!! I can't wait to look at everyone else's work.
TS--I recently remembered PMing you a long time ago about how to make big loopy bows--small world huh! By the way I can now make big loopy bows thanks to you!! I'm glad you're back and happy you had a break from baby!
Stacy--I could not live without lists--truly!! I'm glad to know you do the list thing too--it also gives me such a great sense of accomplishment when I can mark those suckers off!! My new snack/munchies of choice are almonds-I've started keeping them in the car, at work, and at home--I've found some that have vanilla on them--anyway, that's my input for snack attacks!!
Margie--I'm so proud of you being in the "normal" range for your weight! You give us all hope!!
Jessica-how're you doing? I need to hit that dang treadmill with a vengeance!!
Now I'm going to go post some cake pics and look at everyone else's pics--I love being at home!!! Go Chunky Monkeys!!
Well i finally finished the Halloween Cake. It looks nothing like any of the ideas I had planned for, but I am happy with it. I don't want to get disqualified for talking about it, but when the contest is over I'll be sure to post the picture here.
I need your input. This is of utmost importance.
I'm planning on attending the Austin cake show and competition and there are going to be some really great classes offered. i have the list of who is teaching, what they are teaching and the cost. I want you to give me your input as to what you think is the most value for the investment. Remember that I have high hopes of some day decorating professionally, but in the meantime I have a few cakes a year I really get to decorate. But I love learning all I can in the meantime.
Anyway, the classes are:
Nick Lodge - Tropical Flowers 2-3 March, 8:30-4:30 - $350
Elisa Strauss - Sushi Cake 2 March, 8:30-4:30 - $175
Debbie Brown - Persian Palace Cake 2-3 March, 8:30-4:30 - $350
Debbie Brown - Indian Wedding Cake w/ Ganesh 4-5 March, 8:30-4:30 - $350
Roland Winbeckler - Writing Made Easy 2 March, 8:30-10:30 - $50
Marsha Winbeckler - Fancy Borders w/ Basic Tips 2 March, 11:30-1:30 - $50
Marsha Winbeckler - Cocoa Painting 2 March, 2:30-4:30 - $50
Roland Winbeckler - Airbrush Demo 2 March, 6-8pm - $50
Roland Winbeckler - Easy Piped Figures 3 March, 8:30-10:30am - $50
Marsha Winbeckler - Marzipan Figures 3 March, 11:30-1:30 - $50
Roland Winbeckler - Buttercream Flowers 3 March, 2:30-4:30 - $50
If you only had $350 to spend (which i'm not sure I even have yet) How would you spend it to get the most impressive experience available from this list?
OK, Deb, here's my $.02. (You know what that's worth in today's market.
)
First of all, congrats on finishing your Halloween cake!
I can't wait to hear all of the details from you and see the pic when the voting is over.
As far as the classes go - you know I'm a total newbie at this cake thing and so you can take this for what it's worth - I would take as many classes as I could with the money I had. I would want to learn as many techniques as possible, so I'd pick stuff in the $50 class list. You have a lot more experience than I do though, I think, so you might find that those are too basic for you. I would think you could pick up a lot of tips and techniques that are useful even so, though. I'll be interested to see what the other girls say and what you decide.
Miss M - Thanks for the almond munchie idea. I LOVE almonds and they are good for you, too. I caught a glimpse of your new cake photos and am going back to look again. WOW! Hope your daughter is well now.
All of you ladies are SO talented! Your cakes are beautiful! I have SO much to learn!
Bags of candy, but no trick-or-treaters
- pray for me!!!
Is it just me or is Halloween a dying holiday? It seems that unless you are invited to a halloween party (which I NEVER am) then it's just not as much as fun as it used to be. I bought candy, asked my husband what he wanted to eat so I wouldn't be so tempted, but still. Hardly any little kiddos came by this year.
So sad.
I know a lot of the local churches and some schools do functions for the kiddos. I don't know what it is. Surely there are still loads of trick-or-treaters somewhere, otherwise there wouldn't be so much candy for sale.
Every year since we moved here this has happened. I always buy candy and we never have kids come by. Every year I say, "not buying any next year". Every year I get paranoid that this will be the year we'll have a bunch come by.
Next year, I'm not buying any candy!!! Remind me of that, will ya?
