On tuesday night Boone and I were having dinner and watching "Neighbours", one of the characters had gotten a kitten for Christmas and the kitten had run away, and ended up in one of the neighbours' house. The neighbour who didnt know who the cat belonged to, really liked the cat and started to write a FOUND sign to post so that he could see if he could find the kitten's owners.

We finish dinner and start to clear away the dishes and we hear a meow, meow, meowing coming from outside. We open the back door and there is a kitten, exactly the same as the one from the TV show on our back door. icon_surprised.gificon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif

We were both sooo shocked!!! We opened the door and the cheeky kitten came inside. Although both Boone and I love cats, we cannot have them because we are both allergic and because it is against health regulations to have pets inside a registered food business. So kitty had to go. He had a flea collar, but he looked like he had been out and about for a few days as he was very thirsty and hungry. I went out and bought him some food and we went and asked our neighbours if the cat was theirs, no one confessed to owning the cute kitty. We figured someone threw him into our yard because there is no way such a small kitten can climb over the fence AND there is no way for the animal to get in under the fence, there is no space at all.

So Boone took some photos and wrote our own FOUND sign. Yesterday one of our neighbours comes over to ask me about a cat. And i tell her we found one, and she says, "OH I thought you were looking for one, because we found one too". Looks like some silly people decided to get rid of their Christmas presents. NOT GOOD icon_evil.gif

We tried to find a home for him via our friends, colleages and family but had no luck.

Now three weeks ago, I get a request for a birthday cake to match my hello kitty cake but to have two cats, because the lady that wants it is celebrating her two cat's 1st birthday and she wants a kitty representing each of her cats on top of the cake. The cake was being picked up today.
This is the cake
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo-96973.html

Earlier on the day i had sent her an email explaining the situation with the kitten and asking her if she knew of anyone that may want the cat. I had forgotten that she was going to be taking the day off work to organise a dinner party.

Anyway so she arrives and sees the cake and loves it, as the cats are the same colour as her two pampered pets. I tell her about the kitten and the email I sent her, and she asks to see the kitten. I think it was love at first sight, she goes outside to ask her partner if they can have the cat, and he says yes, so they take the kitten with them. Oh we were both so happy, she was happy with the cake and kitten, and Boone and I were happy that the kitten was going to a good home. He seemed really happy to be going, and Samantha made him wave us goodbye from the window of the car. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

So maybe next year I will be making this kitten a birthday cake icon_biggrin.gif
of course this one will be a freebie.
Sorry for rambling but i was happy that kitty is going to such a good home and wanted to share.

Your cake is so cute and so is the kitty. At least you took some time to take care of it and find it a good home so many people would have shut the door and ignored it! What a lucky little cat!

Ohhhhh, I'm such a sucker for happy endings!! icon_wink.gificon_lol.gif I'm so glad he found a good home, you are wonderful to have spent the time trying to get him a home and not just dumping him at a humane society. By the way, your cake is awesome!

It is great that you managed to find the kitten a good home. Don't you just hate it that irresponsible people buy a pet for Christmas and then dump the poor animal when they realise that a pet requires looking after.

such a sweet story........so sad that cute little kitty got dropped off......I recently adopted two little kitties (they were a christmas present too) we intended to only get ONE kitten and had no luck tracking them down.....we were in amidst a move from NJ to Ohio and we only got to Ohio a few weeks before Christmas and figured it was a lost cause (I'm allergic to cats but my kids have been asking for one for yrs. and I figure I already take allergy pills almost EVERYDAY anyhow....so why not??) well my DH happened to be looking on freecycle one day and say that some lady had free kittens.......so we emailed her and she sent us a photo........she said she'd like to keep them together and asked would that be possible and then she sent us a photo of the two of them........well, the photo was the two cats sleeping on top of eachother in a baby's bouncy seat.....how could we refuse.......so we now have 4 fish 2 kittens 1 dog and 1 rabbit in our family ......on top of 3 kids.........I guess I just love being responsible for living things LOL here are our new kitties

the multi colored one got her tail chopped off somehow : ( poor thing....she only has a little nub for a tail!

Cats are so much fun. I have two, and love them both. The latest one I got when I went to make my car payment. I was there, and a kitten wandered in, and I said "Oh, you have a little kitten!". The man said, "You like him so much, take him home." I thought he was kidding, the cat was so friendly, came right up to me for love, but he kept saying no, I could have that cat, that the cat had wandered in from the (very busy) highway. Well, after making sure he wasn't kidding, I took that precious cat home and named her Precious. She is now a well-loved member of our family. Hey, we find another cat needs rescued, we'll rescue it, too!

JulieB & KHalstead (your kitties are ADORABLE!!), thanks for sharing your kitty stories, very sweet of you to take the kitties in. I think that in the end if we hadn't found Samantha to take the kitty in, we would have kept him. The problem would have been not breaking the law and not letting him inside. On Wednesday it was something like 100F(38C) here and we had the air con going, and poor mishmish was outside in the heat, and we felt soooo sorry for him we let him inside while we were having dinner. He was having a grand old time, running around our place, and then i see him dissapear into our living room and i followed him and i find him all comfy on our couch, i told him that he shouldn't be there and he got off straight away, i didnt scream at him or anything, just told him he was cheeky and should get off my couch. He ran around a little more, climbed on a chair and tried to climb on to our dinner table icon_eek.gif heheheh and then proceeded to pee on our carpet, at that point Boone had to put him outside icon_sad.gif , we werent mad at him cause he just couldnt help it. Now we know he wont be getting too hot or too cold being outside icon_biggrin.gif
When we went to bed last night Boone said he already missed him, Boone did spend quite a bit of time with him, and he had videos of him that he took and lots of photos, im just happy he's gone to such a good home.

Such a sweet story. Rescued kitties always know they're loved. We adopted our two (sisters) from our vet, they found an abandoned litter of six and ours were the last two left. Spinky & Cricket.

Actually, your tortie (multi-colored) is a manx...born that way. Manx can be extremely loving, only drawback is sometimes have problems with back end. Enjoy them while they are little, they are as bad as kids for growing up too quick!!

Thats so sweet, and familiar. My house is a drop off for every animal under the sun. People have evn dropped off baby chicks to us.

Oh well, we are animal lovers, and a proud member of the Human Society.
I can't stand to see a homeless animal. I guess that is why right now we have 3 dogs, 4 cats and 1 horse. Thats small time for us.

Anyway, I thought your cake and the story where great. I am redoing my daughters room in Hello Kitty, she thinks she is great.

Alright yall. I have to tell you the story about my cat. It was 1996 I was looking for a cat. The vet had had 6 kittens dropped off, they were only 2-3 days old. They bottle feed them all. Max (the one I took) was really sick. They thought he would not live.

Hes still alive & well today. I love him soooooooo much!!

We rescued a kitty and she looks like KHalstead's. We love her and she loves the baby. They sleep together, and the cat loves her things. I went in the baby's room the other day and she was "nursing" a baby blanket.

Monica!!! I LOVE MAX!!! He's just precious!! I had a cat (also a stray) named Bug Meow that looked just like him. He was the last pet we had, poor mishmish got run over by a car right in front of our house. It was a terrible day, I had just gone to pick up my brand new car and came home sooo happy, we saw Bug Meow at the front, we fed him, and we went to have dinner, we were going out that night and when we came outside we found him dead on the nature strip. I was heart broken. Boone picked him up and we burried him in our backyard icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Momof4 I love the picture of your cat with the baby, it's adorable icon_biggrin.gif
