I want to make a champagne cake for my hubby's birthday (his favorite). I usually just buy one for him every year, but this year I want to make it myself....with love icon_rolleyes.gif
Anyone have any recipes? And what kind of frosting goes with it?
Thanks!
Jen

You can replace the water/liquid in a recipe. I have done it using a cake mix with good results. a plain icing works best, so it doesn't overwhelm the champagne tasts

Peach spumante was very good, too.

Champagne cake-
* 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 3 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2/3 cup butter
* 1 1/2 cups white sugar
* 3/4 cup champagne
* 6 egg whites

I forget where online I found this a couple years ago, but now I make it every year after the New Year's party with the leftovers from the celebration.

I use champagne as the liquid in my buttercream icing too, and some champagne flavoring as well.

Yum!
