Hello all, I need a question answered and I know you all will help me out. I often use CK royal icing mix. I need it very stiff to place a border around some cookies I am doing. To get it a stiffer consistency, do I continue to add coffectioners sugar to the mix? Or do yo think I should scratch the mix and make the icing from scratch? I really do not like the tast of it, so how could I change the flavor? I thank everyone in advance for your assistance.

if you continue the beat the icing, and it still needs to be more stiff, you can add more powdered sugar. I would sift any added sugar to avoid any lumps.

You can flavor royal with any extract that is clear, like lemon or almond. You can also use clear vanilla if you use it. (I hate the fake flavor)

I assume that you add water to the mix. What if you add a little less water than called for? I think that may do the trick.
