Coffee & toffee, for the rhyming factor. Coffee & chocolate is always great. coffee & caramel. Coffee, dark chocolate & orange.

I replace the water in a white cake mix with good quality black coffee. It's soooooo yummy! For the icing, I put a little english toffee flavoring in my buttercream. I make these cupcakes a LOT, they are very popular with coffee lovers!

Ladies, go to Bakerall's blog to read a letter from a man about his wife serving our country. See what she did for him. Very inspiring. Gives meaning to " The 4Th " celebration. Hope you had a safe and happy holiday.

Pat, that was so sweet. What a great guy. I have a really close friend going to boot camp in a few weeks.

I've been baking for Operation Baking Gals this week. I have 2 types on cookie doughs in logs in the freezer ready to slice and bake. Making peanut brittle tomorrow, then baking cookies and mailing everything off. I made tollhouse chocolate chip cookies, because EVERYONE knows and loves those. I also made sugar cookie dough and used red sanding sugar to make spirals in the dough. I wanted to do red and blue sanding sugar, but I couldn't find blue. Oh well.
What is everyone else up to?

how the heck did you get 15lbs of sanding sugar? lol. Join baking gals, chass! I just made sugar cookies, rolled it out in a big rectangle, poured a TON of sanding sugar on them and then rolled it all up. you could make those just for home, too. yummy and pretty, and easy

Off the subject again ( I'm famous for that ) I remember, many months ago, someone was going to help me with the printed edible images. My printer has just set for many, many months in its plastic bag. I think I should do something with it. Can anyone give me some sites for information I'll need? I hope everyone is well. Waiting for the next baby, since I'll never have any grandchildren. I love this site. I feel like we are all friends.

Thats exciting, Chass! I was a big suprise for my parents as well.

Yes, I chilled the cookies after I rolled them and then just sliced and baked! Very easy, and they are yummy. I used Alton Brown's recipe from food network (my favorite for when i'm not using cookie cutters) and flavored with 3t vanilla, 1t. butter and 1t. almond. Can't beat it!

I finally got the cake stand I wanted! It's the 5 tier one from Wilton! AND it actually went together perfectly! I dont have good luck with wilton stands, but I really wanted it for my sons party!

Thanks Jana! I'm going to try those next Wed or Thurs. his party is the 25th. there's just a bad day in between there. The 18th is the 1st Anniversary of Andrew's death. His widow is doing well, she just got engaged last month & is getting married in Dec.

Thats sad, Chass, but at least she's getting remarried. Thats actually really exciting.

I get to make my first purse cake! I'm doing it for the 12 (soon to be 13) year old I sit. I think pink and blue with white accents, but I haven't decided for sure yet. Any tips or ideas? She likes chocolate cake, but I don't think I can carve with chocolate well. I was thinking a vanilla-cinnamon cake with dulce de leche filling for the purse with chocolate cupcakes on the side. I thought I would try to make the purse in Juicy Couture style, but with a B for Brittany instead of a J for Juicy. Should I put 13 on it? Use pearl dust? I was thinking maybe I would decorate a dummy for it to sit on, so it's big. I really want to make this special for her, she is such a sweet girl.
