If you come up with a rhubarb cupcake, I would definately be interested in the recipe. My garden already has the rhubarb coming up. (I'm in WI, so it's still cold here. It was around 45 degree when I left the house this morning). Gardening doesn't happen until June here.

I make a decent rhubarb/strawberry crisp. But would love to turn that into a cuppy.

Aw, thanks everyone!
Valli - I loved that cake, it was so good. I'm making it again for a friend next week. The recipe is from the Cake Slice Bakers's current book, Sky High. It's a really nice cake cookbook.

Fiddle - the vanilla cupcakes are frosted with IMBC, the recipe from food network "Classic Vanilla Buttercream" it's my favorite! I used frostin' pride on the chocolate malt cupcakes because, well, thats the melvira way, and I used frostin' pride on the pecan ones because I had already defrosted it so why not? lol.

I just made my apple cinnamon topping with the cinnamon apple ice cream topping I found, there are real little apple chunks in it which I didnt know when I bought it, And I put apple chunks in the caramel cupcakes, so I'm hoping it's not to overpowering with apple! The bc smells delish though!

Chass, how did you do your rootbeer floats? I found the Dr. Pepper and root beer syrup and can't wait to try it. I just got a printer to do edible imaging so I've been busy playing with it! icon_biggrin.gif

Hi all!

I read that there's a tutorial on how to do carnation-type flowers on cupcakes. I want to send some w/DH to work tomorrow for the ladies in his office (for mother's day).

Can someone post the link to it or tell the page (I'm sure it'll be difficult to remember). I'd really appreciate it!!

I replaced the water with A&W rootbeer, and threw in an extra half cup for more flavor, then added the dessert syrup to the dawns, and whipped it up, the kids were unsure of it at first, but I made half of them minis (I made 2 boxes, started with white cake mix), & I have 2 left. the kids loved them!

To stretch a point and call brownies "cupcakes"...did you see the adorable Soda Celebrations in the Brownie Fun book by Wilton's? Look on page 45. You need the brownie pops silicone pan to make them, but the rest you probably already have. They are just toooo cute. If I don't get a chance to check back in....HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL WOMEN who make happiness with your talent!!!

I brought a few extra chocolate malt cupcakes to some kids I watched this afternoon. I was asked my the little girl if I would make them with her next week. I'm such a pushover - I said yes! lol. I thought it was the sweetest thing, it about made my day.

That's so cute Jana! Kids love to bake!
I love confectionery house's cupcake liners but the poka dot ones are a waste of the extra money you have to spend there. They do not hold their bright colors or poka dots like their other liners do after baking. I will E-mail them but just wanted you all to know. I'm really disappointed because this girl wanted polka dots and I found all the colors she wanted. icon_sad.gif

Grandma, what if you double lined them? Put the polka in 1st, and then a white so the cake batter would actually be in the white liner? I know it's a pain & a waste, but may help if it's for an order

I'm debating trying to make some iced tea cupcakes with lemon icing for my candle party in 2 weeks. Do you think it'd work? I was thinking a regular bc with lemon, and then replacing the water in the mix with a strong iced tea.

Thanks for the advice, Chass!
I've never made tea cc's but it sounds good with the lemon frosting! I would think you would have to make the tea really strong. Maybe a flavored ice tea. Let us know how they turn out!

awww, that stinks! Are your kids being any better? Werent you having trouble with a few at the begining of the year? My kids prinicpal & I got into it badly last Friday because I skipped a meeting in favor of taking my bro in to get tested for swine flu (a school a few blocks had a kid with it, and was shut down, and my 11 yr old bro had several symptoms), So I tried doing the meeting over the phone from the er, and all she did is defend the bully physically hurting my child, I was beyond ticked. I'm so glad school here is almost over, I heard rumors she's being transfered, and it's either her or my kids, if she stays, we're going. I'll leave them there if she goes though icon_smile.gif

Mel, I bought the food network mag today, 1st time, and I really like it, AND in it they have a recipe for a maple french toast cupcake with bacon. I'll scan and post it if you'd like it (or if anyone else wants it), I remember talking about it last summer, the pic looks really yum!

chass - I would TOTALLY love to try a maple french toast with bacon cupcake (I might leave off the bacon, though, I've been limiting my meat intake. Only once every few weeks now) AND, for your tea cuppies, you might want to try a scoop or two of the powdered iced tea mix from lipton (other brands too, I'm sure). That would really help give it a stronger flavor. Tell us how they turn out icon_smile.gif
