Edna and Fiddle............going downstairs to get Greatgrams Milk Pie recipe right now and will be back here to post it for ya within the next little bit.
Ok ladies, here is the recipe and I am going to type it out exactly as it is written. If you have any questions just ask. This recipe was written in the 1880's and is totally original from that date. Isn't that cool!!!
I always double the recipe because I use nothing but 10" pie plates and I like them full to the rim. Extra filling goes into ramekins and baked along side the pie.
Milk Pie
1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Stir good
Pour in 2 cups milk, 2 tablespoons melted butter
Stir good
Bake at custard pie temp with the same type of crust. 9 inch pie
Yep, it has a crust.
"Bake at custard pie temp with the same type of crust. 9 inch pie"
This translates to "use a single pie crust, the same as you would use for a custard pie"
Teekakes.. Thanks so much ! sounds yummy ! Im going to guess its AP Flour ? Do you have that also in the original hand writing ? I would be framing that and hanging it in my kitchen ! Thats so awesome to have !

You are very welcome!
Other than my Mothers hand-written recipes this is the most special recipe this sentimental old fool has. I LOVE old original stuff! Although the recipe is not framed and hanging, it is laminated and stored safely.
Editing to say, yes it is AP flour and yes this recipe is in Greatgrams writing. Her name was Elsie Pearl.
Sorry I forgot to answer those questions the first posting!

Lea, thanks for sharing that recipe. It sounds delish. Reminds me of some of my grandmother's recipes. My husband always laughs when he sees things like....."add to consistency" and such. But there's a bit of art to the science, isn't there?!
Oh, and Edna, I decided I want to look like you when I grow up. Let's see, you said you're 40............I've got two years to grow up then. Unfortunately right now I look like my avatar, except that I cut my hair short.

Thank you, Edna. My double chin and I appreciate that!
