Sorry, One more question: Do you suggest the printer with the 6 or 4 cartridges? Thanks
Well, mine has 6 and it's almost overkill because the 'photo' cartridges hardly get used. So, really, the 4 would be sufficient if you can get it cheaper, but if it's the same price, either would be fine! I'd say, get the nicest newest version you can for the money!
My Canon has worked perfectly since day one, sorry to hear about your trouble Diane! It's never nice when you have that kind of grief!
Can the edible ink papers be used on chocolate too? Thanks
Hmmm... that is a good question for one of our chocolatiers! My opinion is that it would not 'melt' into the chocolate and 'disappear' like it does with icing, but that might not be a bad thing! I think it would look cool to print out fun designs and put them on top of your chocolates! I have wanted to experiment with that, I have just had too many other things going on to get to it yet. It will come! If you try it first, let me know how it goes!! ![]()
YES!! Giggysmack... that is exactly what I'm talking about! That's what I want to get into! I have the stuff to make molds of things like picture frames for that sort of thing... I just think it is too elegant and awesome! Thanks so much for confirming that it can be done and look awesome!!
Melvira, Where did you get your molds? I would like to try something like that with my edible photos as well. I like the personalized chocolate bar as a wedding favor, or a fancy frame. I think I like the recatangle frame it would make it easier to cut out the edible photo. You can also purchase the edible photos in small circles but I'm wondering what the dimentions are of the frame lolipops are? I have lots of questions about this too!
Giggy... I actually purchased the food safe mold making stuff they were selling at OSSAS last year. I'll have to go look to tell you what brand, but that probably won't happen tonight... it's a little buried! I will certainly find it and tell you as soon as I can! It's great stuff!!
I have some answers for you guys about edible printers.
I have had both the expensive systems and the printers.
Love the printers better, but the systems do come with great graphic programs that are dummy proof.
I too have a printer with the photo carts and when I buy a new set they seemed to be always removed, full.
So, I was told by my ink supplier that as soon as my inks started to blink low, just take and move them around and you have a few extra weeks.
That has saved me a boat load of money.
As far as putting them on chocolate, I do that all the time.
I've made choco lollies.
you spray the lolly molds with a little pam place the image down and then pour the chocolate over it.
The pam keeps the image stuck so the chocolate doesn't seep underneath and allows the whole thing to slip out easily when set.
Or you can wait until the choco is set and then put a little melted choco on a thin layer and place the image on.
That's how I do the photo in frames or on the chocolate covered oreos
If I don't have the right template with KOPY KAKE I will use the AVERY label templates on WORD
When I'm down to one or 2 sheets and have a new set I take those and run them through the printer and print edible business cards.
I then can use them chocolates and use the little wilton boxes and hand them out to other businesses.
Wow! Thanks ButterWench that was really helpful info.
Ugh, I'd better stop posting so early in the am, I can see I leave out words in my haste to get back to bed. lol
can anyone tell me where I can get a good deal on a Canon ip3500 or another good printer for edible images? Where was that one for $69 purchased?!! ![]()

Is this the one that is good for edible images?? Thanks!!
I bought the Epson printer months ago and am so afraid to hook it up that I was contemplating on selling the whole thing
If some of ya'll could help me with a couple of questions I'd appreciate it.
I have the edible paper, won some and purchased rice paper. Can the rice paper be used with the printer? I also have the cartridges. How do you get the odd sizes, i.e. cookies, sides of cake etc.? I hope these aren't stupid questions. I am really computer illiterate.
Jeez bafishr... talk about stupid questions! Hahaha! I'm just teasing! Trying to break a little ice.
Tell me what your questions are and I will happily help as much as I can! As far as the rice paper, you can use it like the edible image sheets in some cases, but not exactly. It will not melt into the icing like the icing sheets do. The sizes... you can actually buy sheets that have circles for cookies on them. I use them and they are great. If you want more info on that, let me know. As for like sides of cakes, etc. it's all cut to fit. DON'T BE AFRAID of it. The worst that happens is that you waste a few sheets to start with. If you need help, I love to help, just give me a yell. We'll get ya going, and pretty soon you'll be an EI master!!
I ordered my sheets and ink from kopykakes and when you purchase these items you also receive a code that you use along with a program you down load on your computer it helps you to use the editable ink program its kind of a how to program I to was scared at first but now I love it I have a lot of fun with it and make some really neat stuff

I got my cannon on ebay last september for $25.00 brand new
I was checking all the time for a good deal for about 2 months until I got it I used it only a couple of times and today I try to print a picture an it was all red I don't know what's the problem does anyone had had this problem before? I didn't use it for 2 months and I didn't take off the cartridge so you think that that can be the problem? ![]()
