Hey guys thought I would pop in. I just finished about 600 mints. Dang my shoulders are hurting..I put up a card table in front of my recliner and did them while I watched TV.. And the table was a bit taller than it should have been. So my arms we up higher. DUH I should have known I would hurt later..LOL
Anyway thanks for you concerns and prayers for my SIS.. She really needed them. To strt the story off. Her hubby had to have emerceny gallbladder surgery on Thur. So he was in the hospital first. And while they were at his doctors appointment to tell him he needed the surgery the doc was concerned about my Sis.. Her eye was swollen.. So he gave her some antibotics. And asked her if she had any neck pain.. He was worried about Meningitis(sp) She said no not really.. So she went home to rest after her hubbies surgery. She took the meds and went to bed. She got up to go to hospital to pick up hubby. But her eye was totally swollen shut and her face was huge swollen. you couldn't even regonize her. She call her DD to take her to the doc and he admitted her for a emergency surgery. She had a abscess in her tear duck. So they cut her open and put in a drain tube.. She is feeling much better but will stay in the hospital a few more days till most of the crap is gone..So it was pretty scary for awhile..
Man Janine I really need a neck massage right now...LOL Ya truelly got to win the lottery..
Ohara I am glad you got a break at least for awhile.. It stinks like you said about cleaning up the house just so you can go out..
And for what I ate???? What is that LOL
Jordan went out of town to his girlfriends to go to some graduations. And tonight Brooke ran away to my other sis's house to stay the night.
I was busy with mints so for Mike it was eat what you can find...LOL He had a couple of fruit yogurts, banana, a sandwich, a mini blueberry bagel, a brownie and I don't know what else..LOL Me on the other hand am snacking on some ranch soup cracker mix I made..I guess it is better than chips but not much LOL I will probably make a sandwich after I take a shower..
In the morning we are going to see my sis who is in the hospital she lives 35 miles away, then onto my MIL who is another 20 miles from there.. Then go south and back east to pick up Jordan from his girlfriends house..So we will be on the road most of the day.. But at least I won't have to cook the late lunch at MIL house..
Hope you all have a good one..
Kay - " janine reaches through the computer - lol hands streching onto kays shoulders and neck - rub - rub, knead , knead - arnica oil works wonders!!! - rub and massage more"

Hope you all had a good one.
Janine when you win the lottery save some money to come to Australia don't spend it all in America
it doesn't matter where you go in America you're not close to me ![]()
Kay how weird for your sister and her hubby to both have something wrong at the same time, I'm glad she's doing better it would have been scary though. 600 mints
you're a glutton for punishment.
Ohara isn't it annoying when you get dessert and it looks great but tastes terrible and knowing you'd make it nicer than they do.
mkolmar thanks for the birthday wishes. Just think bad things happen in 3's a speeding ticket & 2 cakes to rebake, things should start looking up now for you
. Just get some sleep.
Last night we had Tepanyaki(?) Japanese BBQ that was a lot of fun. Tonight we had spag bolg my hubby made for Mother's day.
Hope you have a good one.
K lol i know- ok youre in the middle, so i will start with you!!! lol
sparlepop =- lo i wouldlove to omesee ozz!! the down under - lol so from america, i think i will come long there - lol
hope your inlaws are better , and that you soon find a place that will suit them and their needs - youre in my prayers !!
mmm sounds fun!!! cant wait to win he lotto!! lol
Tonight we had rissoles and vegies, I had a lot of cake decorating to do (and phone calls to field) that I wasn't in the mood to cook tea.
The phone calls are re the in-laws of course, the MIL's blood pressure keeps dropping whenever she stands so she passes out, not a good thing. She was supposed to come out of hospital this week but obviously not until they work out what's happening to her. At least a social worker is going to talk to her about assisted living when she gets out, having someone outside the family saying this might be a good thing, hopefully.
The FIL is still the same living in his own world probably the best way for him to cope. We'll see what happens next.
To get onto something lighter, Janine wben you come to Oz (and money is no object) we'll go for a bridge climb, then check out the buskers around the harbour and look at the Opera House, we'll have lunch at one of the many restaurants with great views and food, then go on a harbour cruise in the arvo and finish with a Twilight concert at the Zoo, now that's the 1st 24 hours
. Where would you like to go next? ![]()
Welcome back to the table Mewie, we missed you.
Hope everyone had a great mothers day.
Lets see..Saturday we were taken out to eat by DH's business partner. I had the filet mignon with bread, veggies, salad and strawberry romonoff. The dessert was wonderful! Had 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream in a large bowl covered and swimming in warm strawberries that were poached in alcohol. Didn't know it had alcohol in it till they brought it out and I could smell it. It was good but I could only eat a small amount so DH finished it off happily for me.
Sunday I was taken out for mothers day. I had the chicken cord on blue with veggies, salad and rolls
Monday was chicken tenders, beer bread with honey butter, red skinned roasted potatoes and broccoli with cheese sauce.
I got my grades I had 4 A's and 2 B's. I graduated Cum Laude. I was only .014 away from Magna cum laude. GGRRR. Just 2 more points in one class and I would have had it. Oh well. I've been helping my friend out with her term papers so I guess I wasn't done with school after all. (ha!) I have pictures of graduation that I'll post when I can.
Janine-my son's teacher just told me today that the cake was beautiful and so well done. Her daughter and friends loved it and her DH said it was one of the best cakes he's ever tasted. WHEW! crises over. I thought for sure she was going to tell me how awful it was.
Sparkle--I'll just hitch a plane ride with Janine to come see you also. She'll be wondering why her luggage is so darn heavy![]()
Ohara--There's a family I know asking for us to help them become foster parents by filling out the paper work. When we talked to them, they are only doing it for the money. I'm so disgusted! They are not that great of parents either so I told my DH no way are we filling it out and he want to call child services and tell them. Do you think we should? After listening to you and how big your heart is it sickens me about this couple. (we don't talk to them hardly at all and now I remember why)
Kay-- how did all the cakes go? Are you still able to stand or are you crawling around right now because of being so tired?
Everyone else--Hope to hear from you soon.

tonight dh made sphagetti bolognaise for us - his speciality - lol as i was making or shall i say still icing the mini version of the brides cake for them to taste - upon their request!!! lol and they loved it all - i am soooo happy - lol
(did the mini cake off a terrible quality picture she e-mailed me - but she was sooo happy with it- cant wait for me to do the full thing - 5 tiers!!! 173 slices to feed 85 people - lol they want 2" x 2" servings for their guests to take home - lol)
so that is how my day was, 2 mini cakes - one 2 tiered mini for bride and groom and a mini cake for a friends birthday - lol all done in chocolate leather!)
hey guys - why not start a tour, we all get together in america, from there we go to australia, then come to south africa - lol and wherever we go, the person that lives there, hosts the few days or week or what nots - could be fun - so all of us to paly the lotto - he he he
or buy big enough suitcases to fit each other in - lol
Hello table family! Well today was the day. The baby got circumcised today.
He did well. A little more bleeding than "normal" so we had to stick around a little longer than expected. He is such a good baby. Bless his heart. He had been a little fussy, but not too bad. 5-10 days for it to heal. I'm hoping for the 5 days. lol It was emotionally draining for me. I'm so tired tonight. Oh, and DH had to be out of town today and tomorrow
I gave him a hard time about it, but it truly was scheduled prior to this being scheduled.
The good news is I don't have to make dinner. We will probably order pizza.
Monday was meatloaf, roasted red potatoes, fresh green beans
Tuesday was chicken and yellow rice, with peas, cottage cheese and biscuits.
Mkolmar.....here in Ohio, in order to be certified you have to do lots of training(40+ hours, not exactly sure as things have changed since we were certified 12 years ago). Along with the training, CPS does a credit history and you have to prove that you are financially stable and can pay your bills without the money provided for the care of the children. Of course there are background checks, finger printing and police checks. Also a home inspection, and personal references. With all that said....odds are if they are only interested in the money, they will " wash" out before being certified. So, no I don't feel that you would need to call. I know requirements are different from state to state, but usually they are somewhat similar. I have a funny story about the money part. People often assume that people do this for the money (as you know personally, some do and others do it for the welfare of the children). During our training hours, we would often joke about the money part. The time came for our first placement. She was about 17 months old, beautiful and scared. She had been taken from home late at night by the police, taken to intake where they do a medial check and give the kids a bath. None of her belongings came with her. She came with a nasty bottle and the pj's she was wearing. She as been with us for about 24hrs. and would cry unless my DH had her. I was not her mama and she didn't want me doing mama "things". I was so tired at the 24 hr point, I was in tears. My DH starts to laugh and I asked him what was so funny? His response was just think, we have just made $17.00 LOL Yes, at the time that was it. Not much more than that now.
Good for you for not filling out the reference. Sorry that your answer was so long. ![]()
Janine...yes, you come to the states, we'll all meet up and then we will go on to Sparkle's place. Mkolmar and I aren't too far apart, so maybe you should stop here first and then we will all move on and pick up the rest of the gal's
And I would love to come to South Africa. How awesome to visit a new country with someone to show you around. Sparkel can show us Australia and all the amazing sights there. Now all we need is lots and lots of money. LOL It sounds like you are going to be busy with wedding cakes soon. Good for you. I will look forward to seeing the pictures when they are done.
Sparklepop....I am so sorry about you MIL. I hope you get some resolution with the living arrangement thing soon. What is rissoles?
Mewie...glad you popped in. Hope to hear from you soon. You usually have Sunday dinner, did you cook for mother's day or did they take you out?
Kay...is this another crazy week for you? Are you still making lots of graduation cakes? When does your DS graduate? How are you feeling? Is the new medicine helping at all? Take care of your self.
Have a good evening!!!
=Hi everyone=
Hope everything is well with all, everyone seems very busy as usual.
Hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day, mine was great.
Well, because it was Mother's Day on Sunday, my youngest daughter took over cooking the meal. As you know she is a professional chef so the meal was great(don't know where she ever got her talent!)
We had large bacon wrapped scallops grilled, broccolini sauted in garlic , and red potatoes roasted with white truffle oil, garlic, basil and oregano. Dessert was choclate cream pie.
I hope everyone is doing well and I will talk to you all soon. Take care!
Hi all!! hope youre all doing great!
Ohara - poor little guy, will keep him and your family in our prayers- hope too that within 5 days all will be back to normal - shame, it must hurt!!!

dh, took us to wimpy for a burger for dinner as we all got home pretty late today from work, course and running around
so dinner was dagwood burger, fries and a large cup of coffee - he he he
Just thought i would like to say " i think youre all so amazing!! you all have such heavy loads and burdens too - but remember there are blessings generously strewn in there too - God bless all of you!!!
Big Big hugs to all
Gidday guys Wednesday night we had grilled fish, cauliflower, beans, wedges and carrots and last night we had Spanish Tortilla(?) hadn't made that before it was nice and the family vote was I could make it again
.
The MIL is ready for discharge but the hospital want her to go straight into hostel living, wow what a surprise, the FIL is living in the past about 40 years ago when he was really involved in Scouts and amazingly his voice is very in control but obviously what he's saying is complete make believe.
The MIL still is being difficult about going into care and the other problem is it's expensive to buy into, some you have to buy like a house, the prices vary dramatically, and others are on a bond. Then there's the vacancy problem, we have to get something soon or it will be taken out of our hands and the "powers that be" will but them anywhere that has a vacancy be it good or bad ![]()
ohara hope the little guy is getting a bit better every day. Rissoles are mince meat, you call it ground beef and it can be mixed with grated onion, carrot, cheese or whatever you want bound together with an egg, a few herbs of choice and made into small hamburger patties and pan fried or grilled.
mkolmar you're so clever, well done
and I can't believe you were worried that the teacher wouldn't like your cake.
Janine I think our next day will have to be a day of rest, we'll go back to my place for a swim and spa, BBQ, lots of tea (and maybe something stronger ![]()
), massages and naturally cake. But I just thought I want to go to America too hmm maybe I'll escort everyone home
wouldn't want you all to get lost now would we ![]()
So what are we going to do in South Africa Janine I've not been there before what's our 1st 24 hours going to be, remember money is no object cause we all won the lottery (we can dream).
I hope all your cakes aren't due at the same time you'll certainly have your skates on if that's the case.
Have a great Friday.
Hi everyone!!
sparkle pop - lol ok ,we meet in america, then you escort us to your home country and we all do those wonderful things, then i will escort you all here, and man are we gonna have a jol - lol (jol means great time here - sorry!)
lets see, we will go on a bushveld safari - go check out the big 5 here and some of the other little ones, maybe feed the lions and especially the baby ones you feed by bottle - lol
oh man, where to start??? we can go hiking or take a slow hike - and camp along the way -lol
go down to ratanga junction in the cake , a cable car ride up table mountain - man this is a dream for me as i have never been to the cape - lol so we will all explore together all for the first time - he he
mmmm i will have to go see what is what, we mostly go to the bushveld and caravan there, it is so peaceful and quiet - lol there are tons of wine tasting farms , game farms, and so much to do
I think the 1st 24 hours, we might rest and recouperate from being by you - lol then work out all our plans, and make lists of all we want to do and where we want to go, and then as we go , we can tick them off - or i can look see what is what around here - so long as you dont want to go to soweto - there is no way i am going in there - lol
Oh my gosh! You are all so funny. This is just one big girls vacation!
I have to make it quick tonight since my daughter lost her favorite stuffed animal and cried herself to sleep. I'm tearing the house apart to look for it. Poor thing, she's had it for years.
Tonight was sandwiches and mac and cheese.
Hope you all have a wonderful night! (Janine--keep playing that lotto girl
)
Is it really Friday already?!!!! I would be really excited, if I didn't have so much to do this weekend. On top of every thing else I need to accomplish this weekend, I have to make a cake.
LOL I haven't decorated a cake since the baby came. Wow... he's 6 months now. How did that happen. Actually I just don't ever seem to find the time. It will be a simple cake, chocolate cake, chocolate butter cream done in basket weave, with chocolate covered strawberries on top. It's for a friends son's youth group auction. The one I made last year sold for $100. He called and asked if I would bake this year. How could I say no. DH has already asked what kind of cake I am making for here at home. I let him choose. Thankfully he picked a lemon cake, so so easy to make.
Girls, this trip is sounding great!! Don't forget we need to stop and check out the bakeries in each area we travel to. And just think of the food choices we will have to post at the dinner table.
The baby is doing well. He has been such a good little guy. He appears to be healing at this time. He had therapy today. I didn't know how well he'd do today since he just had his circumcision, but he did ok.
Oh Melissa.....a missing stuffed animal
and the favorite one. Oh, how sad she must have been at bed time. I hope you find it soon and can tuck it in with her so she will wake up with it. My older DD lost her pacifier one day, we hunted and hunted for it. Bed time was coming and we were freaking out. I finally said to her (an 18 month old) "where did you put your paci" She looked at me, walked over to her little people play house, opened it's little garage door and pulled out her pacifier. LOL!!! Kids!
I really hope you find it. I hate when little ones are sad.
Janine....how many sessions in the course you are taking? Keep us posted on what you all are working on.
Kay...how's your sister? Hope she is getting back to normal. Hope your feeling ok. Look forward to you posting.
Mewie....your Mother's day dinner sounded wonderful. What a blessed lady you are.
Sparkle...wow. I hope there is something settled soon for you in-laws. What a rough thing. I hope you can take a little time for you. You can't take care of all the others if you don't take care of yourself. (((HUGS)))
Dinner...
Wednesday I did order pizza. I had veggie pizza. YUM
Thursday we had left over chicken and yellow rice. I made so much the other night, I had enough left over for a whole other meal.
Tonight I made waffles. I like mine with peanut butter and syrup. DD likes hers with syrup and whipped cream. DH had left over meatloaf, as he doesn't really like breakfast food.
Have a good weekend, you all deserve one!
(PS...I typed this last night and the site went down. Thankfully I had copied my post. So yes I know it's Saturday.
)
I know it's been a few days since my last visit, but we've been busy. I hope you are all doing well.
Ohara- hope the baby has heeled well.
Kay--Is your sister Ok?
Mewie--your mothers day meal sounds wonderful!
Sparkle--how's everything with the in-laws?
Janine--any luck winning the lotto yet ![]()
I'm freaked out right now since this weekend 3 girls in my daughters class (2nd grade) were almost abducted. The guy came into the fenced in back yard where they were playing and tried getting them to help him find his lost puppy for candy. When the girls said no he tried to grab them, they ran to the tree fort screaming and that is when the mom came outside and the dog chased him out of the yard. It was an older guy. The girls said they wanted to help him but decided not to because he was kind of creepy and they remembered not to help strangers. That's when he tried to grab them. This makes me sick to my stomach.
Tonight we are having leftovers. Last night was honey-bbq chicken, baked potatoes, corn on the cob with a compound butter, italian bread and fruit.
Very Quick stop in to the table. I am at the hospital with DH. He was admitted on Mon. They think it is pnamonia(sp) He came home from work with his heart racing and couldn't breathe. I took him to doc and his oxygen was at 80% so they sent us to hospital. They are doing all kinds of tests and he is on oxygen for now.. Sorry i don't have time to read. I am on the hospitals computer hat Later |Kay
Oh my gosh Kay. Big prayers coming your way. I hope your DH is ok. My son had the same thing happen (only had 1/4 of his left lung to breath out of) a few years ago. I feel for you. Hopefully they can start doing steriod treatments to open up his airways soon. ((Big hug))
Hi everyone-
Just wanted to say first--Kay, I hope everything will be fine with your DH, we're all thinking of all of you and our prayers are with you for speedy recovery!
Melissa, what a scary thing to happen, you have to be so careful to watch the little ones all the time, I still worry all the time, mine are 24 and 22, thankfully they live together in their own apartment, but the worrying never stops!
Sunday dinner was homemade italian sauce, meatballs, sausage with cavetelli and gnocci. Also, salad and bread and banana cream pie.
Yesterday was chicken enchillidas and salad, tonight crab cakes, mac and cheese and corn.
I hope everyone is doing well, my best to all==
Talk to you all soon!
Kay, I am praying for you and you husband. I am so sorry that you all are going through this. Know that you are in all our thoughts. ((((HUGS)))) I wish we were closer so we could help you out with something. Keep us posted on how he is doing.
Melissa...I can't even say what I would do to someone that messed with my kids ![]()
It makes me cry just to even think of such an awful thing. Thank God those little ones are safe. I know I'm over protective, but I'm OK with that! ![]()
The baby is not healed yet. Actually I am taking him back tomorrow, because "things" just don't look right. The doctors office called today and after we talked we decided he should go in. So, tomorrow after our OT appointment, we will go to the urologist.
Mewie, your Sunday dinner sounds fabulous as usual. And your right, my 22yr old is out right now, and I'm worrying about him. Much easier when you can kiss their boo boo's and make things all better.
Today my DD got hurt at school. A little boy gave her a big shove and she fell and hit her head. She has a big goose egg on the back of her head. She wasn't listening to him, so she has some responsability in the incident. Just doesn't keep me from worrying about her. This mommy thing is hard work
.
Dinner....
Saturday I made beef nachos
Sunday we went out after church, and then we had friends over for cake and ice cream. I don't think we had dinner? Not real sure.
Monday I made beef chili, as it is cool here.
Tuesday we had left over chili. I had appointments all day so no time to cook.
I wish I had a great idea for tomorrow. The baby has appointments all morning and then I have a couple of errands that have to be taken care of tomorrow.
I pray that you are all safe my friends.
Gee whizz you leave the Supper table for a couple of days and look what happens mkolmar I'm so glad all the little girls are safe ((hugs)) and how proud you must be that they used their instincts to know something wasn't right. It's so sad there are people in the world like that.
Kay hope your DH gets better soon what a terrible shock. At least he's in the best place to be looked after ((hugs)) to you too.
ohara your poor DD hope her "egg" goes down quickly with no other effects. Being a mummy doesn't get any easier, sorry to say, as they get older but that's only cause you care so much.
mewie I think I'm going to come live with you the food always sounds so good.
I'll let you know how the in-laws are going in a couple of days when this hostel thing is sorted.
Tonight we had Butter Chicken and Rice
Last night was Lamb chops, tomato & onion, beans, carrots and potato
Talk again soon

Hi everyone.
Kay--I hope your DH is getting better. I just wish I could be there to give you a big hug.
Ohara- How was the baby boy's appointment? and how's your daughters goose egg on her head? You've had a rough few days.
Janine- Your classes sound wonderful!!!! I'm so happy you are getting to do them. I know you'll do great on the exam.
Mewie--your meals always make my mouth water. I'll need to buy a new keyboard soon when I fry this one out from all of the drool. ![]()
Sparkle--How is OZ treating you today girl? Take a breather when you can.
Tonight was Pizza Hut Pizza to celebrate my daughter doing wonderful at the schools track day. She did 3 events and placed in each one. (One event was 1st place, another 2nd and the last one 3rd). She was so proud so I let her pick what she wanted for dinner. I ate one slice and 2 crusts from the kids. My goodness I'm not use to eating that pizza. It has a lot of grease in the pan pizza crusts. (but it tasted so good) So I went to the gym to try to burn some of it off. HA! No wonder I have a few pounds to loose. I'm obsessed with food. mmmmmm...fattening food!
Kay, I hope your husband is doing better today. Praying for a quick recovery for him.
Melissa, the baby's appointment today was so so. Three different doctors looked at him, and came to the conclusion that it may be fine. We have to go back next Wednesday. If it's not healed, it will be a very unpleasant appointment.
So, we are praying for a complete healing by then, if not sooner ![]()
My daughters "egg" is smaller today but very tender. She will have a sore spot for a while.
Janine, your classes sound awesome. I hope you enjoy them. Great minds think a like, I decided to make lasagna today, before I read your post this morning. LOL It was very yummy, if I do say so myself.
Sparkle, I hope it all gets sorted out in the right way. Please keep us posted. I hope you are caring for yourself. ((((hugs))))
Tonight was lasagna. Good news, there is enough leftover for tomorrow.
Have a good one my friends.

Another quick update
We are still at the hospital. Mike is on the mend alittle. They did a scope of the lungs and took tissue. They aren't exactly sure what is wrong with him. We are waiting on the cultures to come back. |So we will be here atleast till Mon. And today was our anniversary. Si I called ahead and picked up steaks from applebees. I had mine topped with grilled onions and his was topped with garlic and mushrooms. We both had tossed salads and baked potatoes..Thanks for everyones thoughts and prayers.. I better go for now I am on the hospital computer
Hip hip hooray the in-laws are both in care
the FIL went to visit the MIL in the hostel and people that run the place were so concerned for his wellbeing that they suggested to my BIL that he stayed too, that was Wednesday. He has been hallucinating terribly probably cause he's not taking his medication and also the stress of not being able to comprehend what's happening and just knowing things aren't right. My other BIL went up yesterday (Saturday) and both the MIL and FIL were ready to come home
, yeah right that's not happening. Anyway he bought a couple of things from their house including their TV and suddenly they were much happier, amazing what a telly can do
. We're not out of the woods yet but we are hoping over the next couple of weeks if we gradually bring stuff from their villa to the hostel they will gradually settle. Thanks for all your concern, we had this weekend off and did some fun stuff, we went to the farmers market woo hoo I love farmers markets, saw a friend playing and singing at the local hotel with some friends and weeded my very neglected garden, well not all of it just enough to make a difference.
Ahh Janine1972 you can't win the lottery now it's getting too cold here it's nearly winter you have to wait till it starts getting a bit warmer. You'll have to show me what you learnt in your course it sounds cool.
Ohara hope that little ones healing well, sending good thoughts your way.
mkolmar your DD must be very athletic, my youngest just had his athletics carnival and didn't enter anything he's definitely not sporty he's a computer nerd (you didn't hear that from me
) he just goes to the carnival for the lollies and chats to his friends some of them even bring their game boys, he doesn't cause I won't let him
.
Kay Happy Anniversary
hospital's not the best place to celebrate but at least it sounds like you had a good dinner and more importantly you were together. Hope they work out whats wrong soon, thinking of your ((hugs))
Friday night we had home made pizzas,
Saturday night we were at the hotel and I had veal sensation, sounds good doesn't it, veal steak topped with scallops, prawns and balmain bugs in a cheese sauce with chips and salad.
and tonight hubby cooked and we had spag bol again, his speciality.
Have a great week
