HMMM, seems Janine has been the only one eating at the table for a while. icon_lol.gif
I just printed out page 28 of my report and I'm only half way done. (but I'm getting there). This week will be really busy again so I probably won't be on CC much. I have a test, class project, buffet for school, ice sculpture for school, a wedding cake (they want just 3 single layer sheet cakes icon_confused.gif ), a 8in square birthday cake, prepping all day Saturday for the ACF dinner and Sunday is the Scholarship dinner. Whew! Pray for me ya'll.
My 6 year old son is sick so hopefully I won't catch it.

Tonight was a few crackers for me and a hot pocket. We had pretty much whatever for dinner. My mom and dad had 3 of my kids spend a night and had them most of the day so I only had my youngest at home. I got so much work done on my project it's unreal. Those kids sure do suck up your time icon_lol.gif

Janine--How long will you be going without power on certain days? Or is it one of those possibly forever things? Glad to see you got your cake out of the oven in time. I just love your work.

Good luck and all with everything you still need to do - but hang in there, i know you can do it! and youre almost done!

thanks for the compliment about my work - lol just did a 21st out of my head - and amazingly enough it looked ok - lol
we are without power one week will be mon and friday nights from 6-10pm, then the next week the wednesday night 6-10pm and i have no idea for how long this will continue - but it is frustrating!! but again, on the bright side - it sure does bring a family together - lol as you play more games etc, by gas lamp - lol
i finaly finished my cake room too, and my web site - whoo hoo!!

big hugs for you !

last night dh made us bacon and cheese burgers - yum, tonight i plan on making lazagne and a tossed salad!

hope all are well and having a great time!

Yes...it would seem that the table has had a lot of vacancies lately.
I have been busy....although not as busy as Melissa or Kay. The baby ended up with a sinus infection and an ear infection and is on medicine. Now he has lots of dirty diapers and a sore bottom. Poor little guy. I think he will be leaving soon. Not to go back to mom, but to a distant relative. They have checked out so far with all the background stuff. I am waiting on move date. I am really sad about him leaving. Happy for him to get his forever family this soon. But sad for me...this is the hard part. I just keep reminding myself that I have had the joy of holding and taking care of this beautiful boy! What a blessing.

I have cooked. I have started using the grill again. I love that no pans are used and little clean up is needed. Tonight I was planning on grilling steaks but not sure if that will happen as the baby has physical therapy at 3:30pm downtown at Children's Hospital. I will be driving home during rush hour from downtown. So I don't know how much time I will have to fix dinner.

Melissa....you CAN do it! You are almost there. I am so impressed that you do all that you do. Hope your little one is better soon, both for his sake and yours.

Kay...hope life settles down for you soon. If nothing else the 4th of July is coming and you will get away then.

Janice...what a pleasure it is to have you at the table. You always have a nice word for everyone. Congratulation on getting your web site and cake room done. Both big jobs. Is the power outage just for residential or are business's having them as well?

K2cakes...glad to have you back. Yes, starting the stroller walks here as well....we just don't have the hills you do. Isn't it great to finally be getting outside.

Mewie....hope all is well. I know you are busy like everyone else. Take care.

Leily, Sparklepop, kettlevalleygirl, Deborah....hope you are all well. You are missed. Look forward to hearing from you all soon

I swear I am going to try to sit at the table for awhile icon_lol.gif For some that may not know. I am working part time at a store bakery. It is fun I get to play with toys I don't have at home. I am learning alot of different things. If nothing else this will be a learning experience. My hands are hurting pretty bad. So only time will tell. If I start getting more cakes at home then I will have to rethink it abit. I also sell Mia Bella candles and Avon. The avon is not a huge thing. But I am trying to grow my candle business. My kids aren't babies but I do have to drive them around. DS has a license but we only have one car right now which means I have to take him to and from work. And DD has her paper route, dance (3 times a week) and girl scouts. If the kids we little I don't know if I could do it. I don't know how Melissa does all she does icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif

Ohara you have a point about July getting here icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif But I maybe doing a wedding cake for the 5th..It isn't anything definate. I haven't talked to them personally yet. But the aunt was inquiring about a wedding cake for them. I said I could be possible as we will only go to the lake afew miles out of town and I could bake and freeze the cakes and decorate on the 3rd. We will come to town everyday anyway to do DD paper route and take showers. It will depend on alot of factors if I do it. If it is going to be a complicated cake then it will definatly be a NO. If it is simple then maybe if the MONEY is right. icon_biggrin.gif

I haven't had time to read everyone elses posts.

Oh I almost forgot what the thread was about icon_lol.gificon_redface.gificon_razz.gif

Tonight for supper was a fast quick meal. Tacos or taco salads It takes me about 10 minutes to make. thumbs_up.gif

I will catch up later. I feel like I typed a book already icon_lol.gif

Time does fly by!!!
I "retired" last December, and I have never been so busy...I signed up for some gumpaste classes, and I want to practice that as much as I can, so I can ask the teacher as many questions as a can.
But I end up doing so much running around for everybody, so glad I don't have the added stress of a job.
We have had this last week, Veal, with a lemon sauce (was so tough had to throw out the left overs!! Sauce was good though..)
Tuna Steak - from Costco, just rubbed with oil, salt and pepper, then fried for 1 1/2 minutes on each side..was very good, and tender.
Ohara - boy have I been there with ear infections...my two girls, now 24, and 21 always had ear infections...as well as being collicky babies, man I don't know how I got through it! You are so special, to have the love to give to a baby and then let him go....
We have to get a propane tank this weekend and then we can start the BBQ season!! Yeh...But, the weather is forcasting snow this weekend, and we are driving home this on friday (boo hoo), (we live in the city during the week). I want hot and sun and BBQ days soon!!
Janine - what is your cake room like?? I am trying to finish a basement kitchen, for decorating, and am having problems with electrical codes etc. I don't want this to be a huge expense!!
Kay = I remember those years, when I worked full time and then spent the evening driving around three kids....was I glad when my oldest got her license! I tried to do without my car, just so she could take it and do all the driving for me....now the roads are so busy, I don't think that I would do that now...
The website has been down a lot for me, probably just as well, I managed to get more done yesterday!
Everybody, have a great day..

Hi, popping in for a chat. I had my hubby's side of the family over at the weekend for my MIL's birthday lunch, we were supposed to go on a picnic but it's been bleak and raining here (it's autum). Anyway due to the weather it was decided to have the lunch at my place, oh joy icon_rolleyes.gif . Plus my FIL was to stay with us for the night before, now he get's confused easily and staying in a different place made it more so. During the night he had to get to go to the "loo" and couldn't find it (even though he knows where it is during the day) so he went where he thought it was icon_cry.gif . My morning, before everyone got here, was cleaning up puddles and airing the place out. The day wasn't the most pleasant as hubby and his brothers were trying to talk to the in-laws about where they were going to live and they are both adamant they are going back to their house and my in-laws "turned off" whenever they didn't like the way the subject went. I was most glad when the day finished so was everyone else I think.
Yesterday I took my MIL shopping, she hadn't been to the shops for a while and she was totally worn out after 1 hour, thankgoodness she got what she wanted.
Lunch at my place on Sunday consisted of BBQ chicken, ham, potato bake, pasta salad, coleslaw and a green salad. Dessert was chocolate mud cake and butterscotch meringue slice.
Last night we had pan-fried fish, which kept sticking to the pan for some reason and just didn't taste right, don't know what I did, with vegies.
Lenore my son got his licence on Monday so now we have to share my car but being the worrywart I am, I make him text me when he gets to wherever he's going so I know he made it OK. This will probably last a couple of months icon_redface.gif .
Kay you're like a tornadeo blowing in and out icon_lol.gif
Ohara you've made such a difference to this little guys life you he is very lucky to have you.
Will talk again soon.

Well all of my table friends, your lives are as hectic as mine.
I've read all the posts and would love to come back and comment on them soon, but my son is still sick and might be getting admitted to the hospital if not better by tomorrow morning. One more trip to the DR. and I'll know for sure.
Tonight was soup and sandwiches for the kids. I ate nothing. DH had pineapple chicken and rice that his mom brought him. I'm tired so I'll be going to bed now. Have a good night everyone.

Hi everyone!!!

Ohara - thanks - but i cant take credit for being nice - lol you guys are the best - and it is so nice to have a table family - all busy busy busy - lol
I hope that little one gets over all this illness soon, and for you - BIG HUGS , i know it is gonna be difficult - but just remember -you are doing something amazing, and special for this little guy, and i am positive that it has a great impact on his life now and allways - without you - what would happen to these little ones - my heart aches for you to have to give him up - im crying just thinking about it!
So be strong!! and God Bless you for all you do for these little ones! you are amazing!
Cherish the memories! You are in my prayers!
our power outages, do involve everyone, big or small businesses and residential - they never upgraded our power stations and didnt build the new ones, when they knew they had to - so now we all suffer - lol but i must be honest, it brings the family much closer - lol we now play games at night by gas lamp - that we never did before and have nice chats too - lol oh and early nights - look on the bright side eh? -lol
thanks for the compliment on the cake room and web page - it was both fun to do, and a challenge - never designed a web before - lol so if i can do it - anyone can - im computer illiterate - he he he

Kay - you are in my prayers too - youre so busy, and a super mom too!!!

Kettlevalleygirl - my cake room is just the spare room, with a couple of long tables and all my cake decorating tools - oh and the computer - lol i do the baking in the kitchen and then all the decorating, flower making etc here - which keeps the kitchen much cleaner and easier to use - lol i dont have to keep moving everything to make dinner - do you have to kit yours out with ovens and all???
i hope that you manage and get yours up and running soon!

Sparklepop - sorry, but had to giggle at the "where he thought it was" part - sorry about that - i know it isnt funny!! i sure hope that you can sort something out - in their state, they definately shouldnt be living on their own - with my gran, when she went senile? my mom and dad went to the doctors and got letters to say she wasnt fit to be alone, then went to the court and got power of attorney, we had to have her put in a home - she just couldnt manage on her own - stayed with my folks for a few months - but she wouldnt eat etc, kept saying we were trying to poison her etc - is there not something you can do like that - i know it is not nice to take away their freedom, but for their own safety and your peace of mind - maybe you need to have that done - before they do something that will be bad? - sorry i dont mean to interfere - maybe a social worker or someone can lead you up the right path to getting them settled safe and sound??? BIG HUGS!!! and hang in there!

Mkolmar - I am praying for you and your son! I sure hope that he is better soon, and that he doesnt need to go to hospital - how old is he??
BIG HUG too!! Hope it all goes better soon!!

sorry it has been a long one - lol
last night we went to have dinner at the spur restuarant - lol we attended my friends funeral yesterday afternoon - she passed away last thursday - she was very ill and thankfully now she has no more pain etc - so we finished there at 5:45pm and drove home, walked in and the lights went down - mm 10 min earlier than supposed to be - lol oh well, so we had chicken breasts - nicely grilled in marinade, and instead of the chips and onion rings - lol we opted for the sallads and veggies - so it was a nice dinner!!

I will uplift you all in my prayers - may you all have a wonderful day further!
Know that you are all loved!
BIG HUGS
Janine

Hello everyone-

Seems like forever since I posted last.

I hope everyone is doing well, I know everyone has been super busy with their lives.

I hope everything is going well for everyone who had sickness in their families.

Well, spring is finally here, in fact, a couple of days it seemed like summer.

For family dinner last night we had
Pork tenderloin rubbed with olive oil, garlic , basil and oregano
Smashed red potatoes
Green Beans and corn.

Also, made a hot pizza dip served on pieces of bagette.

Dessert was mini cheesecakes with strawberries.

My best to all and I hope to be talking to everyone again soon.

Just a quick stop to say that my 6 year old son is back to being healthy and did not have to get admitted to the hospital. WHEW, thank goodness.

My wedding cake, birthday cake and the ACF scholarship dinner dessert station went very well. I'm still working on my final project that is do tomorrow. So far I have about 40+ hours in on it already. Can't wait for it to be done and turn it in. I received a B on my final exam which was over material we never went over in class so I'm pretty happy with that. Just very tired right now and can't wait to get some much needed rest.

Hope you are all doing well.

Dang Twin you made me tired just reading your post.. LOL But I know you can get it done. Great job on that B..

This week for me will be alittle slower I hope. I only have nieces Cupcake cakes to do for Friday. And I only work Tues. and Thur. this week. But I do have a Avon order to get ready to turn in and a candle order to put in. And I need to contact some people that inquired about candles and Avon at the consignment sale I did a few weekends ago.. But they all shouldn't take me long.

DD will be gone almost all this weekend. She has 2 B-Day parties to go to. Fri. night is my nieces slumber party. She will barely be home from that and then go to her friends B-Day party. So when she gets home Sat. she will be wiped out. Know her though she will beg my sister to go stay at her house also. LOL Anyway that means I should get some REST LOL and Hubby all to myself LOL... Because DS will also run away for the weekend to his girlfriends house. She lives an hour away. And last weekend she was here so this weekend he will go there.

Ok what did we have to eat.. Tonight was my chili mac per DD request. Last night was chicken nuggets, fries, green beans and peas..

chat with yall later...

I have missed my table family. I see everyone is still busy. Still busy here.
The baby is still here. Still waiting for background checks to come back. Then the move has to be approved by a supervisor. I think that is just a formality, and won't take any time. They did say that they would give me a couple of days notice before the move. I am enjoying every minute with him. At least I'm trying.....he's teething LOL. Bless his heart he's having a hard time with them.

We have eaten....
Last night we had Italian sausage, peppers, onions, tomatoes with rice and corn.
Sunday we had BBQ from a local place
Saturday was roasted chicken, mashed cauliflower, peas and sliced apples

Melissa....I am so happy for you. Girl you MADE it!!! We all knew you could. I hope you get much needed rest soon. So glad to hear that your
son is better.

Kay....I hope you get to enjoy your quiet weekend. Hope it is POWER LOUNGING at it's best. thumbs_up.gif

Janine...thank you for thinking about me and how I am doing. Any word on how long the power outages will go on? I envy that you have been cleaning out clutter. I would love to get some of that done as well. I am way behind on spring cleaning this year. Oh well, the dirt and clutter will be there when ever I get to it. LOL

Mewie...your Sunday dinner sounded great as usual. Would you mind sharing your hot pizza dip. I don't think I've ever had that one.

Sparklepop... HAPPY BIRTHDAY party.gif Sounds like it was a good one. Your right, I am jealous. Good for you. Your dinner sounded yummy.

flayvurdfun....WELCOME!!! Glad to have you at the table. I love open faced roast beef sandwiches! Your post made me hungry.

K2...hope all is well with you.

Have a great day ladies....it is a beautiful spring day here. I hope the sun is shining in your part of the world.

Sparkle--HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!!! WOO-HOO A DAY OFF OF WORK........(I'm so jealous!) icon_lol.gif you're always so busy though so no wonder slowing down got you bored later on. icon_wink.gif

Ohara-just enjoy the baby while you can. He was put with your for a reason. It will probably be just as hard on him as it is you when he leaves...but everything happens for a reason...your such a good person.

Mewie---your meal sounds fab!

Janine--your so sweet. I'm going crazy still but will slow down some after next week. How's the blackouts going?

Kay--my goodness girl, you need a nap.

K2--hope you are eating well. Your so tiny, a strong wind might blow you away if you don't come to the table and eat soon icon_lol.gif

Christi--TD #3 you go girl!!!!
Leily--I know your a crazy busy- how's school?

Well, I have to email my final page of my report to my instructor by midnight tonight. It's almost done though. So far I have a total of about 55 pages. Next week I have to give my 20 minute presentation over the material on Tuesday and then Graduate on Wed. and again on Friday. It seems odd to say that. I have totally mixed feelings about it.
My DH helped me out some with the ACF dinner. He was concerned he was more in the way then helping but he did a great job. I was getting pulled in 15 different directions at once and started just giving orders. You know how odd it is to give orders to chefs with 20+ years experience that are way talented? They just kept saying your the boss and I don't do pastries so tell me and I'll do it. They are such a great group of people to work with. I couldn't be happier with how the table turned out. We only received 1/3 of the items I needed donated from venders so I had to change the menu the day before the event. It was ok though --adapt and overcome. We had the perfect amount of desserts because there was only a few pieces left at the end of the night and we had made 1,200 servings total of various items. Couldn't have done it without everyones help and that includes all of you who encourage and pray for me on her also! I was awarded a $1,500 scholarship so I will try to take at the French Pastry School or at the Wilton School. (That $ will go quick with how much the classes are though) You know whatever I learn I'll share with all of you.

Last nights dinner was a hodge podge of sorts--more of a what do you want that takes only 2 minutes kind of meal.

Tonight was breakfast food, waffles with fruit and whipped cream, fruit smoothies, cereal and breakfast breads.

Well, I have to get back to work and then I'm going to bed. It was 4 am when I went to bed last night and I woke up at 6:40 am, so I'm exhausted right now. have a great day everyone...if I'm not on here for a while you all know why.

HI EVERYONE!!!! BIG HUGS ALL AROUND TODAY - LOL

Sparklepop - sorry - belated Happy Birthday for monday though - sounds like you enjoyed it!

Ohara - Enjoy hime - and he is a blessing to you and you to him!! we dont know how long the power cuts will be - they say till around june or july - but they never constructed the new power plants when they were supposed to, and they never maintained the ones they have well, so now the whole of south africa is going through different stages of black outs - to make sure there is enough to go around - lol though i must say - it is good for family time - or extra family time - lol not so good if youre trying to do a cake - lol
Big hugs! and snuggle with the little one lots!!!

Mkolmar - Yup lots of fun these black outs - lol they are now the days we get a good nights sleep - lol but i was sitting thinking - i wonder when the baby boom is gonna be - lol with all these different folks, with nothing else to do but go to bed at 6pm - lol can you imagine - sorry - it just popped in my mind - lol
Good luck and Congrats on all your graduations and stuff - and the scholarship - sounds like fun - and i know that you will do so well - just look at all you have achieved - lol keep it going strong - you havent got too long then youre done!!!
I am so proud of you - i am sure i speak for all - we are proud of you!!1 you go girl!!!!
well done on the acf dinner and all - good delegation!!! - Good luck and best wishes - big hugs too

k2 cakes - hi - good to hear from you - sorry youve been ill - hope youre much better - and that you stay that way! lol dinner sounds interesting - especially the vegan wings - what were they made of???? - sorry im blonde when it comes to vegan dishes = lol - big hug too

Big hugs to all table friends!!!

today i have decided to make a mini feast - no only joking - lol just feel like lots of nice warm foods - as it is pretty cold here the past 4 or so days - bbbrrrrr!!! lol
im going to do some cubed beef into a sort of stroganhoff sauce, with some roast potatoes, some corn on the cob, mixed sallad, cauliflour and cheese sauce and i want to make a self saucing chocolate baked pudding for dessert - but will see how far i get - lol

Hope everyone is well, having fun and happy!!!

So glad to be back on line, for some reason the website seems to be still a little slower.
mkolmar - I get tired reading all that you do, congratulations!! You are amazing.
Ohara - Enjoy that baby...time with a baby does fly by.
janine1972 - I just ordered the cupboards, so I will have the "decorating bar" downstairs, in about 6 wks. Because the original electrician did not put many plugs in that area, I can not call it a kitchen "legally", but I can put in a sink, and I can put my mixer on a nearby counter, that is near a electrical plug. As long as we do not make any structural changes, and call it a "bar", if we ever sell the house, we are not making claims that there is a kitchen downstairs. A big issue, because people put in basement suites illegally and the house isn't zoned properly, insured properly etc. But the reason I want the space downstairs is for decorating. I can bake upstairs and then store and decorate downstairs. I will have lots of cupboard space to store all my stuff, and a big counter to decorate, and of course a sink to do quick cleanup.

Now it is 8:30 am, and I think that I have said before, I live in BC, Canada, in the Okanagan, which is "Napa North". It is SNOWING!!!!, this winter is the strangest we have ever had. My husband works in the city, so we have a condo there, so I go back and forth depending on where I have to be...but I have to drive back to the city (Vancouver) today, (which is 4 hours, through the mountains), because we are flying to Vegas tomorrow. Luckily I am able to use our truck to drive back today, we still have our snow tires on, thank goodness. I won't leave until around 11 am, then it should be little warmer, by then.

I am looking forward to Vegas, I think it is going to be nice and warm.

Big Hugs to everybody ((((HUGS))))))

Last night, we had waffles, and maples syrup,
Night before, hot dogs, and perogies
Dinner both nights only my 19 year old son, and myself, easy dinner!!!

Love to all, Lorene xoxo

Had the most exhausting day on Thursday. I got off of a 12midnight-8am shift and had to go on a field trip with my youngest boy. The St Louis Science Center was an ok place to go, the children seem to enjoy it. For lunch my son and I ate at Pizza Hut Express. almost 20 bucks for 2 small (they called medium) sodas and 2 - 6" pizzas? Geesh!

Anyway, my husband made dinner for the kids while I slept, but I hear they ate cereal and hamburgers icon_lol.gif sounds like it was one exciting meal!

Have a great day table buddies!

Hi everyone!! Hope youre all well!

kettlevalleygirl - sounds similar to mine - lol i also only ice and decorate in my "cake room" lol the rest i do in the kitchen - way easier than trying to do it all in one room, but it sure does help - it is so nice to work on flowers etc, without having to move everything out of the way to bake or cook etc - i am so excited for you - you are gonna love it - it is truly worth it in the end!!! lol

favurdfun - you must have been bushed - hope you had a good sleep - what do you do for a living with those shifts??? and sounds like the kids would have enjoyed their dinner - lol if not, why not!! lol

Yesterday i went to physio for my back - lol i have the beginnings of osteoperosis, so my back goes into major spasms at stages, but i havent been for so long - lol i call them my torture sessions - lol
so when i got home, i was too sore to cook - lol
though today i feel like a new person - lol

so dh got us mac donalds - lol so tonight we will be without power again from 6-10pm, so i am gonna make sphagetti bolognaise - lol easy to warm on the gas bottle stove - lol

hope all are well
Ohara - youre precious!! and so is that little one
know that we are proud of you, and we feel your joy and your pain! big hugs
mkolmar - hope youre doing ok, and still on your feet - lol almost finished - hang in there!
k2cakes- what veggie dish have you done lately - do you have some without the chick peas - sorry i havent been able to get used to them - lol buti love the veggies - hope youre well

well everyone have a super wonderful day!
(((hugs to all))))

Hi again, last night we had a BBQ dinner which was quick and easy as we went to the pictures we saw U2 3D it was awesome. You guys have probably had it there for weeks/months, we're a bit slow in getting any movies and TV series. 3D movies is a whole new experience for us I could have reached out and touched Bono (swoon).

Spent a bit of time this week with the inlaws took the MIL shopping and then the next day took them both back to their home. Unfortunately we don't think they'll be there long but they were very determined to go back so we'll just see how they go.

I have a few orders for cakes plus I want to enter a Cake Dec competition here in August called Challenge. Hopefully I might get some time to do this now the inlaws are back home and the family are all back doing school, uni and TAFE, we've just had 2 weeks school holidays. I just never get anything done when they're all home.

Ohara hopefully you're coping with the teething

mkolmar you amaze me what you do it would be amazing to see you in action, best wishes on your graduation

K2cakes hope you're feeling better, I always thought buffalo wings were chicken, how do you do that vegan style?

janine1972 you must be very organised to have dinner cooked and everything doing before 6pm, not that you obviously have a choice but I know I'd nevery been that organised. So painful osteoperosis you poor thing aren't you too young for that?

kettlevalleygirl what's perogies?

flayvurdfun I always found a was totally exhausted after a school excusion I don't know how teachers do it.

Good luck with the power lounging Kay.

Talk again soon
