Well ladies my evening was not what it was supposed to be. My mother-in-law ended up in the hospital last night. Sounds like she may have a clogged artery. Earlier in the day it was thought she may have blood clots in her lungs, then congestive heart failure......really we are still waiting for all the tests to come in. We didnt get home until 10, on the way home at 9:15 PM we stopped for fast food for dinner since we didnt eat.....not good. Anyway too tired to get up for the morning workout, may or may not get in this afternoons.....

Merissa I am the Trade Show Manager of my business. My first trip in May from 1 - 5 is work. I will be in Houston (providing things are fine with MIL). Then I am going to MN from the 7th - 17th for my Nieces graduation from Vet school, again providing everything is OK here.

I am pretty busy from now until the 30. When I get home on the 17th, starting on the 18th I will be going to MIL every night to bake the cakes for the shower on the 22. So once that shower is done I can relax finally!!!!!!!

Have a great day everyone.

very sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope everything will be alright.

I don't blame you for the fast food and no workout...you already had your hands full. Sounds like you are very busy too.

Sorry to hear about your MIL Michelle. What an evening!!

Well, I braved it this morning and jumped on the scales and was pleasantly surprised. I had actually expected to go up, but I am down by 1.1 to 153.0!! Yay!! I wasn't as good the last 2 days as I should have been, but got a lot of exercise earlier in the week, so I think that's what did it. It gives me more determination to keep exercising. I have to work today, though, so no exercise today!!

Good to see you again Karen icon_biggrin.gif

It's great to hear your MIL is improving Michelle. That must be a relief!

Merissa, are you talking about cake deliveries?????

On Saturday I had a bike ride and did some weight training, yesterday I did my 60 laps at the pool....well actually I stopped counting at 60. I kept swimming while DH was in the sauna. Today I'm planning a bike ride to the pool to do my laps. I can actually see myself starting (slowly) to slim down, which is exciting.

Glad to hear MIL is ok, Michelle.

I've been worrying and fretting about work recently. I really should snap myself out of it.

Been spending some time on facebook recently. Hubby finally decided that he had to make me join and look at his Etsy account, which he put on his facebook page. Actually, I never saw it because I am not a member at Etsy.

It's a crafter's website. Michael has put our soap on to sell. He has gotten one order already. Which reminds me, I was supposed to see if my sister would order something and put a comment on. I'll have to email me tomorrow.

Hi everyone! How does the weekend go so fast?

YOu are doing so well Sonia! Keep up the good work. I think I need to mix it up or something because I think I am having some diet fatigue and I am plateauing.

I love Etsy, Karen! What is the name of your site? I have bought a few things from there.

Yes, problem with a cake pick up. First of all I screwed up the cake Friday by putting some poured ganache on it and it was too hot. IT started melting off the buttercream! This was about 4 hours before she was picking it up. So I had to scrape it all off, remake the buttercream and the ganache. I get it finished in time to go up and clean up my house (since she is picking it up). Then she never shows up! She is supposed to come at 7. I call and leave a message at 8. She calls at 9:30 and says she'll need to pick up the cake on Saturday. I am so annoyed because I spent my whole evening waiting for her to show up and she doesnt have the courtesy to call and let me know she's not coming!! Then yesterday I drove to pick up some of my mom's artwork for her that she has on display at a gallery. They arent open!!! (they are supposed to be!) So now I have to spend my morning going back when I only get 2 hours to myself while my son is at preschool! It is just annoying!

Do you have a link so we can see you soap, Karen?

Yep, I can see why you are frustrated, Merissa! We've recently concreted a path at home and I did several trips to the local suppliers for gravel to go in and under the concrete. The first time I arrived at 3.45 and he was about to lock the gate. He filled up my ute, but said he normally closes at 4 and he's open Monday till Saturday. The next time I went was 2.45 and he was about to lock the gate again! The next time I went was a Saturday morning, about 11, and he was completely closed. I can understand him wanting to get home, but why would he tell me he's open till 4 if he never is??????? I don't understand some people!!!! I hope you've got over your frustrations now!!

Well, I didn't go for a swim after all. I just didn't feel like it after only going last night, so I decided to chop wood for my exercise today. I did that for nearly an hour and it felt like a pretty good workout.

yes, I am over it now LOL! thanks! I went back to the gallery today and it was open. whew. They were starting to hang new art up, so I am glad I got there to get it. My mom felt uncomfortable about what they would do with her paintings if there was no one there to get it. (she is on vacation now).

I went in for my weigh in today and I am back at the same weight I was last monday....frustrating. I did run 6 miles last night and a couple miles this morning.

You sure do get in a lot of exercise out in the yard, Sonia! wow...I wouldnt know how to chop wood. icon_smile.gif

You are both doing great with your exercise. Keep up the good work, and don't let the scale discourage you.

The site is www.etsy.com

The name is soapbymike

We have several different types on there. We make it all from scratch.

I am really getting discouraged at work. They have hired so many people that we are now not making anything. It is so hard. For February and March I was making $500 a week just in tips and now I am lucky to make $200 a week in tips.

Here is the actual link (let me know if I am incorrect) They sound lovely! Maybe I'll have to get some. My mom loves lavendar.

Sorry to hear things are slowing down so much, Karen. It's hard when you cant count on a certain amount of income.

Thanks for the link, Merrissa. I've personallly never been on the site. Maybe I'll add some of my crochet work. We can always use the money. Especially now, Michael is wanting to move to Seattle. I don't think you can get any farther from Seattle than here and still be in the US. Well, maybe Key West.

Your soaps looks great, Karen! We are only into natural soaps. I'd buy some if I was closer, but it wouldn't be worth the postage!! icon_biggrin.gif

$200 in tips actually sounds amazing to me. People just don't tip here! I don't know whether it's because Tassie is a bit behind other parts of Australia - well the big cities, anyway! - but it's just not something that is expected. You often see a tipping jar on the counter near the cash register, but you're not obliged to add anything to it. Anyway, I hope it works out for you thumbs_up.gif

Otter Cake Central Cake Decorator Profile

Well, here the norm is 15% for a server, but if you walk into somewhere and order at a counter you don't have to tip. Thing is, servers don't make minimum wage and everybody in America knows you should tip. Not everybody does, though, and a lot won't tip what the normal is. Of course, you get those that tip more than the 15%.

Actually, I guess I made over $200 in the last three days, looking at the calender. Too bad that my rent is $200 a week in itself. Michael is getting back into the farmers' markets with the soap now that we have a car now. As a matter of fact, tomorrow he is starting a new one.

Thanks for the compliment on the soap.

How are you going, Merissa?

Michelle, are you back from your trip yet??

This morning I weighed in at 151.4, a loss of 1.6, so I'm pretty excited. My level of exercise always slows down at the end of the week though, because things get so busy, so I'll see how I go.

I am well, thanks! I am officially down 20.2 pounds! I honestly thought it would never happen! I guess I broke through last week's plateau. It's weird how you can do the same thing day after day and not see the scale move, but then suddenly you wake up 2 pounds lighter.

Congrats on your DH's soap sales, Karen! I think it is really fun to go to farmers markets! I started watching the documentary, "Food Inc." and now i definately want to take advantage of eating more food grown locally and not from a corporation that is engineering all of our food. Farmers Market...here I come!!

You are doing well, Sonia! You've lost a lot in the last couple of weeks! you must be pleased!

Glad to hear you are doing so well, Merissa and Sonia!

Thanks for the congrats. We are both pleased with the way things are starting to turn around. It was so frustrating having to wait to get back into Gulfport, where Michael already had a customer base. The woman he replaced did show up on Tuesday and was told by the market manager that she could set up that day but Michael would be the new soap person. Guess she should have kept her mouth shut so that the market manager would not have heard the rumors that she was jumping ship. The manager was also pleased that we paid 10 weeks in advance (that we really didn't have) to make a commitment to the market. It worked out all right, since he made almost half of what we spent back.

Merissa, would love to see some "before" and "after" photos icon_lol.gif You're doing great!!

I'm at a standstill this week. I wasn't very good over the weekend, so will get back into the swing of eating less this week. I won't have much time for exercise this week, as I have a wedding cake and a few birthday cakes for this weekend, so I will be all week getting things organised for those.

Karen, is that Michael's main line of work, making and selling soap???? Sounds like a good thing to get into, with so much emphasis on chemical free/environmentally friendly products these days!

Hi everyone! hope you all had a nice weekend. Wow-you'll be busy Sonia! Can't wait to see the photos!

We had a bad virus attack the computer yesterday. I messed with all of our internet settings. It kept trying to bring up some adult sites on it's own. ack. We had to run out last night and buy a new Norton Anti-virus software. We had let our subscription run out thumbsdown.gif . Anyway I was REALLY nervous because I didn't have a hard copy of all of my customer orders! Bad bad bad. Anyway, I think all is okay now! I checked my bank account to make sure we still have money in there!

We celebrated my Grandma's 90th birthday on Saturday. So of course there was cake. I had a piece and it was so worth it icon_lol.gif We also went out for dinner. I think I did okay this weekend considering I was not "in charge" of all the food. I actually did lose a pound. I am down 21.2. I actually don't really have too many "before" pictures becasue I dreaded having my picture taken. I'll have to sort though and see if I can find any. Actually I don't really have any current photos either. When I am all done with the weight loss, I'll be sure to get one.

Hi all,

Hope everybody had a good weekend and a good mothers' day.

Yes, Michael is just doing the soap, so that puts extra pressure on me to make money. It is going well, but we had a problem while we didn't have the car. We were unable to make it to any of the farmers markets to sell. Right now he is in two. One on Tuesday and one on Saturday. Unfortunately, most are closed down for the summer. These Floridians, they all move to Florida (don't think anybody is from Florida) and then complain about the heat.

Great news for tomorrow. We will just be 4 instead of 5. Makes more business to go around, which will equate to more in tips. I have to come up with $60 tomorrow to make the rent, but Michael has the farmers market for tomorrow, too.

I certainly try. This weekend was good. Mothers Day and all. I had a party that was to be 10 but ended up being 17. Did have to let other people have some tables while I got drinks and took and entered the order for everybody, but I think it was worth it. The have the automatic gratituity added on parties of 6 or more, and then they all left between one and four dollars extra. It was divided between seven checks.

Thanks for the good word. It should pick up soon around here. Schools will be out for the summer soon.

Hope it goes well for you tomorrow, Karen thumbs_up.gif

We had a problem recently with an adult site, Merissa. My husband paid $6 for a game download for the kids, but got an adult site. And without realising, they had actually subscribed him to it. So the next month they took $49.95 out of our account. We rang our bank and they said all we could do was cancel our card, order another one, and it cost us $10 for the new one. thumbsdown.gif

I've avoided the camera lately too. Since I was at my largest, about 14 months ago, I've lost around 19lb!!!! I can't believe it. I'm still not thin, so it makes me wonder how did I let myself get that big????
