Clicks done!! I am so glad that everyone is enjoying the holidays! Even more happy to hear people are feeling better!
No all the childeren aren't technically mine but they all call me mom except the baby he calls me mamaw. I have 2 girls 13 and 19, then i took in 2 homeless boys 18 and 20. The 3 yr old is the 18 yr old boys nephew and both of his parents are having issues. It's a shame they don't see the joy that this preciuos child could bring them if they would just quit being so self centered! His mom doesn't even want him for christmas!
It is fine with me though I will enjoy sharing all the wonder and magic of christmas morning with a small child again!I can't wait to see him smile when he sees santa has come! I took him to see santa the other day it was great!Of course I just found out he would be here on christmas so I have some SHOPPING to do!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL!

lildeby....how great for you. I know of what you speak, as we have been foster parents for the last 13 years. This is the first year in I couldn't tell you how long, that we don't have a baby or toddler in the house. You would think at some age I would outgrow the baby thing...but it hasn't happened yet! Three is such a great age for the magic of Christmas.

Honeydukes, you could come over here and wrap for me. I HATE to wrap! The perfectionist comes out in me and then it takes me forever, and the mess of all the stuff spread out drives me crazy. It's no wonder why wrapping is always the last thing I do. LOL

Janice, I'm glad your starting to feel better.

Last night I took my daughters 20 and 12 to see the Radio City Rockett Christmas show. They are in town for 2 days. I'm so thankful that I had bought out ticket long, long, ago. My husband was "down sized"(polite way of saying you are now unemployed) the first week of November, and if I hadn't already bought the tickets we wouldn't have gone. My 20yr old and I have a strained relationship, as she is still finding her way in the world! And my 12yr old is on the Autistic spectrum. She is hypersensitive to lights and loud sounds. With all that said, we had the VERY best time last night. The show was amazing! My girls had so much fun together. I couldn't have planned the evening to go as well as it did. We waited for the theater to empty out, and as we waited we spotted two of the Rocketts up front with some people. We decided to see if we could get up to them. Well we did and my 12 yr old got her picture taken with them. What a joy that was for her! The santa from the show also stopped as he walked by us and gave her a hug.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll keep a good thought for your family. It's sad to say, but I've seen the library and church much busier than usual. We're worried the same thing could happen here. So this year we bought a lot of "family" gifts -- movies and board games. I found recipes for popcorn seasonings and made those up. I've been looking for those colored popcorn kernels. Might just have to go with plain.

How fun to see the Rocketts. Sounds like some wonderful memories!

lildeby, three is such a perfect age for Santa! Have fun with that! I always wondered how mom knew which cookies were Santa's favorite.

Hope everybody is doing better today. VJ, how's that cough coming? Anybody got any last-minute running around to do this weekend?

Been clicking and clicks for Friday!

Good Friday morning ya'll, just finished my clicks for today.

My cough is much better, thanks to you all for your kind thoughts and concern. Only cough once in a while now, and it is like a normal cough, and not a bark, which means that Pepper is more comfortable with me again.

We only got a few flurries of snow here in the DFW area, and not sure it even made it to the ground. We will be warming up again over the weekend (70's on Sunday) and then cold coming again by Monday and Tuesday. Is it any wonder so many people are sick around here! If you don't like the weather in Texas, just give it a little while, it will change.

Sounds like you are all making the best of the economy and making fun plans for a good Christmas even with having to cut back and cut out. I'm sorry to hear of the "downsizing" etc., that has to hit very hard. My DS was "downsized" last April. He is a commercial artist, and has been working "free lance" from a small studio he and another artist have set up, but times are lean. My DIL is a speech pathologist with the school district, so at least one of them has a salary to depend on, but as we all know, one salary these days sometimes just doesn't make it.

I hope everyone is able to stay well, and get all your shopping, baking and cooking done in plenty of time for the holidays. TGIF!

The economy is really bad! As it is my dh has been working ing in ga and coming home once a month just for us to survive. Then I got hurt and this year dh's bussiness isn't doing as well. Both of the boys who live here got laid off but are looking for new jobs.Christmas is going to be simple and not as extravagant as usual but the whole family has managed to just find joy in being together this year! It will be a miracal if we don't lose our house at the begining of the year.(hoping our landlord will have a little christmas spirit left and give us an extension.)
I know no matter what we have to stick together though.Things will get better and I refuse to let MONEY ruin the holiday.
Ohara the Rocketts sound like a blast!! I'm glad you had a good time! When we lived in Atlanta I would take my girls to the Fabulous Fox Theatre once a year to see an off broadway show! The year we saw Phantom of The Opera was the best.I'm glad you had fun.My DH never went with us because he never wanted to get dressed up to go but we always looked forward to donning our evening attire and heading to the show.LOL!!
VJ i'm am so glad to hear you are doing better! You have been sick for awhile now!I am still a little draggy and tired but i was only really sick for two days.I can not even imagine how you feel!
anyway happy holidays to you all!! 12 MORE DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!

AFTERTHOUGHT: Sorry about all that in my last message! Didn't mean to lay my problems on you!I didn't even realize how pathetic it sounded till i read it after i posted it! I know everyone has problems and I didn't mean to weigh anybody down with mine. It was just an instant reply to everyone talking about being downsized. Again I am soooooo sorry about that wish I could just unpost it but don't know how.
Anyway clicks done!! Happy holidays!

clicks done!Has it really taken almost two months to get to 97%!? What happened? Do people really only think about breast cancer in OCTOBER?
Seems like the only time since I've been clicking that the goal was met.
Very excited today! Ethan is coming back today until next monday. Can't wait to see him.I must admit I have gotten used to sleeping till 8 am and do dread getting up at 6 with him but all in all it's usually worth it.
There is nothing like the pure love of a child. I believe when I get things straightened out I am going to see about fostering special needs children.
I love working with the mentally handicapped. That is what I was doing before I hurt myself. Maybe I could prevent one child from ending up in a facility like the one I worked in. Not that it was a bad place but I believe every life is better for having a family. The clients I worked with got so attached to thier staff- we were thier family mostly- then staff would just leave. Sometimes it was heartbreaking.
Enough rambling! ~HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL!~

Tuesday morning clicks are done.

It is 24 degrees here this morning and we had light scattered rain/sleet last night so it will probably be a slick and slippery morning for people driving to work and school! Supposed to be back in the 70's tomorrow, and then by Sunday, freezing again...oh the joys of Texas weather.

Glad to hear your hubby is coming home, lildeby! Make the time count!! icon_wink.gif

Made a very tough decision Wednesday -- I won't be baking any cookies for Christmas. My back is only a little better and I don't think I could take the constant stooping and standing. I've been holding off thinking any day I'll feel better.

I always make lots of cookies and it just breaks my heart. Thought instead I might make some easy candies (candymaking is not a talent of mine.) Maybe some Oreo truffles and peanut butter Ritz crackers. I have the peppermint chips for bark. Just simple things I can sit and dip. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
(Also, I bought a 5lb. block of caramel at the cake supply last weekend -- not sure what to do with it.)

Stay warm and healthy everybody!

TGIF clicking is done.

Sorry, HD, not much help when it comes to cookies , my back and legs are the reason I don't make them, all the stooping and bending is just too much for my arthritic knees and back.

Sure hope your back improves soon, is it any better at all?

No company for me this year, I'll just be going to East Texas for Christmas Day with my mother, stepfather and DB's family.

It's just a really bad strain, so for now it's "take it easy" and take some Happy Pills. Right after the holidays I'm gonna see a therapist who'll show me strengthening exercises. Why is it when you're in tremendous pain and can't move that doctors tell you to get some exercise? Why not "rub some dirt on it" and "walk it off" while I'm at it?

I've never heard of potato candy. Didn't think to cut up the caramel and dip it -- so simple. Saw a pretzel, caramel, pecan and chocolate bark at a gourmet grocery. Might try that. Thanks for the ideas!!

Hd that is what they said to me for the first 3 months just a strain..sent me to physical therapy 3 times a week(about killed me!) then fianally did an mri ..oh you have herniated disk and a bulging disk ! Crazy seems mri would be first w/persistant pain over a month....
ok for potato candy..boil 1 potato put in mixer add powdered sugar a little at a time until mixed well and mixture is thickput in fridge to cool 20 min then remove cover table w/p.s roll out mixturethin like a pie crust
smear pnut nutter all over top then star at edge and roll it up slice into 1/8 inch thick sections will look like pinwheels! It is easy and VERY good and sweet! If you have any problems let me know!

Hope that the potato candy comes out good and you like it! Forgot to tell you the thickness of it will be to where you can ball it up in your hand and it will stay formed!
