I'm just excited when someone does like my work enough to comment on it, but I don't expect a comment on every cake I post. I know I look at a lot of cakes here that I think are great, but I don't always have time to give comments. I know that we are all busy, so I don't get offended by not getting comments, but I do enjoy the ones I do get!!

Thanks!

I get tired of the whining. I seriously think there should be a whining section "cry here if you're too picky about how, what, where, when and why you do or do not want comments".

I hate all the complaints about: "someone looked at my picture and didn't comment", or they "favorited it and didn't comment" or "the comment was something other than telling me how pretty it was" or "the comment just told me how pretty it was and I wanted constructive comments."

Tell me about what rotten thing your husband did, how terrible your MIL is, or your latest bridezilla and I'll be happy to listen to you whine.

JMO, no offense inteded to the OP or anyone. It's just not constructive.

Let me see if I can find a nice way of putting this. What in the world would make a member think they can request a moderator to move a thread?

I hardly ever come on here anymore because of all the whinny threads. And this thread says what I wish I had the courage to write. I am so glad someone has spoke up.

Wah, wah, wah, no-one looked at my picture, no-one commented on my picture, the comment said "nice" couldn't they have said more than that, someone put more than one picture of their cake and now mine isn't on the front page, I think this thread should be closed, someone copied my cake, wah, wah, wah.

Here is my 2 cents. You put your picture on the site to give other members ideas, it's nice to get a comment. This is not a place if you need an ego trip.

We have choices here ladies and gentlemen. If you are not happy with the Gallery, then don't use it. If you are not happy with a thread don't read it. By no means does it give anyone the right to ask that someone's thread be locked or moved. Again, just don't read it.

This site is free for us to meet share stories and ideas and our cakes if we want. It can be fun and interesting.

What does it look like to a visitor when we have these thread complaining about our fellow members. And the threads appear over and over and over again. Enough already.

Talk about the 4 cakes you have to have done by this weekend, your dog ate your cake, you forgot the sugar. Ask how, tell your stories.

There are so many things to grip about don't use this site to grip about our fellow members. This site is for all of us, PLAY NICE.

Just an added note in response to this being a whinning thread about whinners. That does not make a bit of sense to me. This thread is not whinning, it's a message to some of you and you know who you are, don't ruin a good thing.

The whiney threads always end up with a lot of posts. I am kind of thinking a lot of the members like them or they wouldn't respond to them.
Sometimes before the whole thread runs it's course several valid points are brought up.
And most of all, there are some people who whine about everything, should they not be allowed on CC? Where will they go? Maybe they need our support. What if they have a nervous breakdown because no one would listen to them.
I do think it would be good if we had a forum called, "whiners". I bet it would have lots of traffic.

I wish the moderators had the power to change the thread titles to clarify what it's really about. And I really wish that people wouldn't use vague titles like this one, actually. "Am I the only one..." The moderator could change that to: "Am I the only one that is sick of whiners here?"

My answer to that is yes, I am, but nothing's really going to change, so why worry about it? So honestly I'd probably skip the thread and go see more cakes!! Yes, I know I could have read the beginning letter and walked away... it's a "woulda coulda shoulda".

So there's MY whine!

I'm actually peeved with myself that I am even posting on this thread!

I believe that whiners post because they know that people will respond and their thread will go on for days!! I have to say that if this was a site with mostly men, i.e., woodworking, (I know...there are men and women at all sites, but you KNOW that there are over 90% women on this site...) you would absolutely not have whining threads. Personally, I'm a woman who is embarrassed by "see me", "poor me", "I've been wronged", "pity party" women. I mean, geez...get some self-respect people.

ok...step away from the soapbox!!

Jeking, I think that you are so right about the man thing!! If it was a site geared more say woodworking there would be less whinning. Some of the guys that do go on this site probably wonder what is wrong with women! I bet that if they were single they might think twice about getting hooked up!!!icon_smile.gif They would have to hear us whine about anything and everyting!! I know that I just might think twice, but then again I am already married so I guess I cannot second guess that one. Although, I do wonder why I am married sometime!!!! We are women and we are so wired differently then men!

I think that I will shut up now!!!

I can only add a title that will show up. A long sentence wont work because it wont fit.

Actually, my husband is on 3 "men" boards....one for his python, one for beer making, and one for fantasy sports. There's just as much off topic b*tching & complaining, just with a lot more leniency about the language they can use, and telling people they are a *insert expletive here* when they need to be told. icon_biggrin.gif (I'm not saying CC should allow this behavior, I'm just citing the difference.)

I'm not sure if you were serious or not.. but I actually think this is a good idea! Maybe change the wording a bit for the title of the forum. However.. since this is more of a CC forum issue, not a cake decorating, baking etc. issue.. it might be a good idea to have a separate forum of these types of issues. That way those who do not want to hear the whining know where not to go, those who like the drama (as a previous poster mentioned) or have a valid concern about something going on in CC know exactly where to go. That also frees up the rest of the Forums for what they are meant for.. cakes, cookies, disasters, etc. Anyway.. just a suggestion.. just looking for ways of keeping the peace!

JMO but this is what happens when you have soooooo many personalities and opinions in one place. The good part is you don't HAVE to read or respond to any thread. I am here to learn, as I am a novice at decorating, I stumbled accross this site and have been in love with it since. I agree that we have a good thing and not to spoil it, but I also agree with the old saying, if you have nothing noce to say then say nothing at all, and I feel that this applies to both the person starting the post and all those responding. But seriously, I get the bigest kick out of some of these threads!!!! Ya'll have to admit they can be HILARIOUS and overdramatic at the same time!

Threads complaining about other members' behavior always result in hurt feelings. They also derail the purpose of CakeCentral. I request this thread be locked as the discussion seems to be going in circles. Let's talk cake! thumbs_up.gif

Ha! Men donât whine?#!! Come spend a few days in my world.

I work in a group that is 98% men, and believe me, they do nothing but whine. My wife wonât cook, she wonât clean the house. So-and-so gets all the good projects because he kisses the bossâs a$$. He makes more money, he comes in late, he monopolizes the drafting department. IT fixed âhisâ computer faster than mine. On and on and on.

Donât believe the stereo-types. Men complain just as much as women.

Cyndi, you hit the nail on the head. It is the same thing that draws people to soap operas. Don't you get tired of seeing people cheat on their spouses and marry their brother's girlfriend's cousin's grandpa for the fourth time and get kidnapped and wind up in the hospital with one of those oxygen tubes stuck in their nose!! icon_lol.gif Why do you keep tuning in every day?

Ah Ha!! Here we are again at CC, reading and responding to a controversial thread. I noticed this within weeks of becoming a CC member, hasn't anyone else.

The controversial posts almost always stay on top, especially in the general forum.

I said this in another thread where someone was flamed for asking about why people post multiple pictures. If you don't like the topic or the whining, then don't read it, open it or post to it. Move on to another one where you are more comfortable.

I don't mind whining. I do it myself in real life quite often. If someone has something they would like to talk about or complain about, there are forums set aside here at CC for non-cake chit-chat. Talking about things helps people feel better. What's wrong with that?
