Out of boredom since I can not make candy as planned due to wet weather I pose the question of "What are you all making for Christmas in terms of cakes, candies, and cookies?" I was going to make truffles, peanut brittle, cherry mash, toffee, salted nut rolls, penuche and of course sugar cookies. I wish we could do an exchange with others on the board, I make too much and the neighbors complain about me causing them to gain weight! icon_wink.gif

I'm going to be making Cake truffles (cake balls) and brownies for family and friends whom I can't afford to purchase gifts for this year. I plan to package them in gift boxes lined with tissue paper. It's a quick pinch for money problems, unplanned for bills or emergencies, or not knowing what to get someone because they say "Nothing" or "I don't know whatever" lol Almost everyone on my list said "nothing!!!!" when asked what they would like lol.

I had planned to make fudge but my daughter came down with the flu or another similar bug and is home sick today so fudge is out and now just brownies and cake truffles lol

my whole family splits up the cooking - we have a progressive dinner - breakfast at one house, lunch at another, snacks at another, dinner at one, and dessert at the last house. My mom's house is last and she made about 30 different kinds of cookise so my sister and I are doing the little ornament cakes and peppermint and chocolate martinis Yum! For my office I made a cookies and cream cake and chocolate covered oreos.

Same here. I made cake truffles for the kids' teachers, scout leaders, etc. They turned out super impressive because no one around here has ever even heard of cake truffles!! I also made gingerbread cookies and pecan tassies for our family get togethers. If things go well, I'll also make caramel tassies and chocolate chip cookies this weekend.

I am making my late MIL's soft cut-out sugar cookies, iced with rolled buttercream. I made Pecan Caramel Tarts, fudge with black walnuts and some plain (for the kids), strawberry and chocolate cake balls (truffles) coated in white, milk and semi-sweet chocolates and decorated with sprinkles, nuts and coconut. If I find the time, my mother gave me one of those cool cookie tree kits (with the star shaped cookie cutters) , so hopefully I can get to that. Grandbabies coming in to town in three days, not sure how much I can get done by then! I host Christmas dinner for 12-14 people, and I decided NOT to fuss with a dessert this year. Everyone is usually so dang full, and with all the treats I'll have, that's gonna have to do! LOL Happy holidays!

I made cake balls (268!!)to give out with the gifts I purchased. I found little boxes that hold 4 cake balls and they are going in there. I am also making a cross cake for Saturday (gift exchange with my best friends family)-white,red,green marbled w/bc or fondant (haven't decided yet), an 8" round for Sunday (paid)-yellow cake w/vanilla pudding, 6" round for Sunday (gift)-coconut cream w/coconut cream pudding, 6" round for Monday (gift)-triple chocolate fudge w/bc filling, Father Christmas (from Wilton YB-not sure which year) for Monday to bring to a party-yellow 1/4 sheet cake w/some kind of pudding. I think that is it......but there could be more. icon_smile.gif

I've scaled things waaaayyy back this year. I've already made a double chocolate fudge, mint oreo balls, and some kind of amazement with peanuts, cheerios, marshmallows, peanut butter, and white almond bark. That's a new one for me and dh is about to polish off the first batch. Must make more! lol

I still need to make the rocky road fudge bars, gingerbread cookies, choco chip, sugar cookies (iced, of course!), snowballs, BUCKEYES (MY fave!), hot cocoa mix and mocha coffee mix. There's more but I can't think and I'm too lazy to get up and go find my list. lol I give a lot as gifts. It's just easier than trying to figure out what to buy for people who already own two of everything on the planet.

I am making quite a bit this year. Here's my list:

1. Cake balls - spice cake with pumpkin spice creamer dipped in w. choc.
spice cake with gingerbread creamer dipped in w. choc.
white cake with heath pieces and almond toffee creamer
dipped in milk choc.
2. Petit Fours
3. Cordial Cherries
4. Choc. dipped choc. chip cookies
5. white choc. covered pretzels
6. sugar cookies
7. peanut butter blossoms (the ones with the hershey kiss on them)
8. peanut butter fudge (maybe)
9. Chocolate Truffles (DH loves these)

I think there might be more. My mind isn't working too well right now..lol. I've got way too much to do and not enough time to do it. I need to get off of the computer and do some of this stuff. Ahhhhh!!! I just realized I have only 2 more days to get this done!! We are doing Christmas with my FIL on Friday. I'm not even half way through my list! Well I really gotta go now.
