Oh, man, it's starting to be a rotten Thursday, sounds like!
Well, I'm down 2 lbs from last week. I've cut out a lot of my snacking. It's been so miserably hot, I just don't have as much appetite. Plus, sweets (my BIG temptations) just never appeal to me this time of year, I'd rather have fresh fruit and melon. Other than that, I really have not done well, so I'm surprised to have lost. I haven't worked out or walked AT ALL this week, unless you can count some heavy duty house cleaning! icon_rolleyes.gif
Ladies, hang in there! Tuesday, I hear you! I only have one pair of shorts that fits comfortably, but I refuse to buy any more. I did have to buy a couple of pairs of fat pants for work. That REALLY stinks! icon_cry.gif

O.K Sorry for all the boo-hooing this morn. I got out walked my mile, cut the grass and did the trimming and swept the sidewalks. So I feel a little better. icon_confused.gif
BUT I still refuse to buy fat pants!!!
So I may have a sun dress or two to wear but they are the empire waist ones and when I am fat I always wonder if people think I am pregnant in them ya know?
icon_sad.gif

I AM GOING TO WORK MY FAT TUSH OFF THIS WEEK IF IT KILLS ME!!!!!! icon_twisted.gif

I will start with fresh fruit and raw veggies for a week with my water and NO soda!
I WILL walk everyday, no exceptions, except rain of course, not much chance according to the weather man.

I WILL NOT SNACK PERIOD!!!!! tapedshut.gif

Drill sergeant mode kicking and darnit

I WILL PREVAIL THROUGH THIS!!!!!

I just took a pic of myself in bathing suit and put one on my fridge, 1 on my cabinet, and 1 on my bedroom mirror.
Talk about pressure and motivation all in one! Everyone coming in my house will see one of these......so I better get movin to make that pic untrue!!!! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif <my determined face!!!!

Thanks, Katie, I'll do my best to cheer us through the week.
I'll post again a little later on when I can think of a challenge.

Tuesday, I like your idea of the bathing suit pics, but I am just not that brave! I won't even step on the scale with my kids in the room because my little nosy pants DD will tell the world what I weigh!!

Okay, here's my challenge for tonight (or whenever you get to it...)
Pull out last year's bathing suit and try it on. In front of a full length mirror.
Man, if that scares you as much as it does me, maybe it will motivate us!

Oh jeez, you mean I wasn't the only one who had a bad week? I either maintained or gained 1 pound this week - I weighed myself 3 times and got both numbers icon_confused.gif Oh well. I didn't eat too many sweets, just snacked, snacked, snacked. I haven't exercised either, so I'm feeling really blah and gross right now.

WooWoo Shellie!! I need to get some watermelon & other fruit in the house; we all love melon this time of year too. It doesn't replace the ice cream, but at least it's cold & sweet thumbs_up.gif

I can't wait until DH gets home on Sunday so I can get back into my exercise routine.

For some reason I had a bad day yesterday. I just couldnt seem to get things under control and I was frustrated. This equals eating. I made this supid cake and it got stuck in the pan. So you know what i did? I get a fork and i start eating it right out of the pan. icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif I did finally throw MOST of it out.

Has anyone seen that new stuff they have on the shelf "alli" or something? It is supposed to prevent you from absorbing some of the fat that you ingest. Anyway though if you dont follow a healthy diet there are side effects...like gas, oily discharge.... icon_eek.gif ! So I am thinking boy I dont know if that sounds very appealing....but on the other hand....it probably would keep me from eating those foods! LOL

okay so while i am writing this my almost 2 year old dumps out a box of pancake mix. You can see why I am driven to eat.

Oh merissa, I can deff feel you on the children and stress = food.
Me too!
As for the pancake mix, vacuum cleaner hose and viola, all gone. Better than a broom.
I worked my tale off yesterday and I ate little. Just because I was busy and I drank an energy drink and that made me feel full. Plus it had caffeine so.... icon_eek.gif

I bought some more of them today at grocery and thought I could have a nice breakfast, largest meal of day lunch, then an energy drink for an early afternoon snack before dinner. And no snacking afterwards, plus be drinking all my water in between. If I stick to my raw or steamed veggies and fresh fruits plus my exercising, I may just make it! icon_rolleyes.gif

Merissa, a few years ago my mom took some of those fat blockers and I do not want to be too graphic here, but it got to the point that she couldn't sit down for fear of ruining the furniture. icon_redface.gificon_surprised.gificon_eek.gif It was so definitely not worth it. And I really don't think she lost any weight, either.

Hello Ladies...I'm back. Actually we've been back for a week but trying to adjust to summer vacation was pretty testy at times so I stayed away from the computer but I had to share what life has been like as a size 8!

I've been doing the positive thought, like Katie mentioned about the lady who lost fifty pounds by saying I love being xxx pounds. (I've been reading just not posting) So every morning I weigh in at 135lbs. (Sticky note over the scale) As I shimmy into my capris I say to myself. "Oh these size eights fit just perfect" And when I walk at night I relive this moment long ago when I managed to make four guys do double takes with there tongues lollying out. (Great little black dress in my young and wilder days)
Here's the kick though, as I'm struggling with myself to get out of bed in the morning I think, "Since you've lost all that weight your so much more energetic" and boom I'm out of bed. If a craving hits I say "I did not do all that work to get into these size eight jeans just to flub up now, besides your not hungry." and with no guilt I redirect my energies.
My confidence has sky rocketed AND it WORKED!! I weighed in last Sunday, for reals at 131 (I gained four pounds on vacation) I just weighed in, for real, this morning and I'm at 125 and that was fighting thru PMS cravings.

So the lesson learned...Mind over matter. Your attitude can make a huge difference. thumbs_up.gif

How did the weekend go? I did pretty good, although I had an incident with some banana pudding last night... I skipped breakfast and lunch Saturday, though, so hopefully it will balance out.

I love the power of positive thinking idea so much that I'm going to make it our challenge for today. Everyone decide what size you want to be and talk to yourself all day about how great it is to be losing weight and how much you love being your new size. The mind is a powerful thing, let's put ours to work!!

Not too bad a weekend although a little chocolate mousse did escape ibnto my lips saturday night.... icon_rolleyes.gif
But I did my walking and water all weekend though so yay for me!!!!

I am picturing myself in my bathing suit enjoying my kids and my Dh with no thought to escaping fat rolls or wobbling thighs when I chase my kids.

Now that's freedom!!!!!!! thumbs_up.gif

The Best Day Ever by Merissa (a fictional short narrative)

I awoke at 5 am before my alarm this morning because I have so much energy now. I pulled on my spandex shorts and sports bra (My abs are so defined I like to show them off) and went out for a brisk 5 mile run. It was great to be up before the rest of the world to hear my feet hitting the pavement. After about 3 miles I hadnt even broken much of a sweat so I kicked it up a notch for the last 2 miles. Gosh running feels great!! I got home to a still quiet house so I have time for a nice leisurely shower. I noticed in the mirror just how cut my muscle are now, not a speckle of celulite or flab anywhere. I then went to my closet and everything just seems a little too loose. I must only be a size 4 now. I guess I will have to spend the evening on a shopping spree with the $500 cash I found while jogging this morning.

Everyone is still sleeping so I made myself a nice cup of tea and sit out on the porch while I read the morning paper.

My children are so well behaved that we go out on the town and I hear many comments on how good the children are and how I am such a great mom.

As I am strolling along the beach I run into Brad Pitt and he says it is too bad I am happily married because I am HOT!

Anyway to wrap up the day I go on my shopping spree and of course I will be sporting my new string bikini at the beach this weekend in Maui.

LOL that is too cute. I think it's funny, weight and dress size aside, that you crave what every mother craves first thing in the morning - PEACE and QUIET!
And I must say the money, you "found" while running, illustrates how big exercise can pay off. The Brad Pitt thing sent me into giggles

A++ Very creative

Ok, I think Hubby will force me to stop losing weight when I get to a size 6. Myself, I really would like to get back down into a size 3. I have just decided to stop worrying about the actual weight aspect. I stepped on the scale at the gym (a balance scale) and it said about 155. The digital scale at home still reads 160. Which should I believe? I think the balance scale is always supposed to be the most accurate. Of course, when I weighed 110 people were guessing my weight as about 100. I got more carnival prizes that way.

I never have been good at this positive self talk. If I were maybe I could talk myself into liking my job just a little again.

I have been eating breakfast now, though, and I have been starving, which tells me that my metabolism has kicked in. I used to never get hungry when I wasn't eating. Now I am having snacks and still using the calories I give to my body. We are going to the gym tonite again.

Otter: I would be more likely to believe the balance scale, but I think you just could pick one scale to weigh yourself on and stick with that one.

I just got on the one at the gym on Friday because I hadn't weighed in for the week. I don't think I will use that scale again just because I have the one at home I just bought last year. Wonder if the batteries in it are ok?

Hey Merissa, great job on the positive thinking! Have ya'll (my southern side is coming out) seen that commercial with the woman jogging and turning heads and John Stamos checking her out? I love that one!!

I worked out hard yesterday, did 1 and 1/2 Tae Bo DVDs and I'm feeling pretty darn good about it. I was hoping to have time to do it again tonight, buy my boss just sprung a surprise cake on me for tomorrow, so I'll be busy. I'll just have to start gettin up early and doing them in the morning. It's hard to drag myself out of bed sometimes, but I really do feel better all day when I do it. It's even better than a pot of coffee for waking you up!

Well my "reality" for today hasnt been bad, but not as good as my fictional day!! I did go to the gym and I did actually do 5 miles on the treadmill, but I walked about 2. I did not slither into any size 4 or 6 clothing unfortunately. Yesterday I had a party to go to for my nephew and I tried on a couple of sundressed that DID NOT FIT.

Do you guys feel like you are constantly comparing yoursleves to friends, realitives, strangers (weightwise)? Or am I just weird? I dont mean I am doing it in a judgemental way, but just noticing...I never used to think about my weight so much.

I have sat in a room with my family and my SIL's family and noticed that I was the smallest one in the room.

I am glad of that because I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure. I do worry about keeping my weight down so that I can try not to develop those. I just worry about the weight thing sometimes. My size is not what is really bothering me right now other than wanting to flatten this stomach of mine. My boss and the people I work with are commenting on my weight loss. And my daughter, bless her soul, told me that I did not have to lose any weight.
