That's great, Rambo! That is why you work on losing weight for your health. I'm jealous, though. I want a stinky little puppy, but I think I'll give mine a bath! lol

Keep up the good work!

Marissa, we all get a wake up call now and then. Don't let it get you too down. You will be able to get back into shape. Exercise and moderation in your diet. When I talked to the personal trainer at the gym yesterday she said to eat about five times a day. I am due to eat now. I am starving!

BTW, This is day two with no Coca-Cola. Let's see if I can keep it up.

Two days without Coke!!! icon_surprised.gif Way to go thumbs_up.gif . Soda is just like any other drug when it comes to kicking the habit. - Well in my unexperienced opinion as I've never kicked a drug habit other than caffeine. But when I was trying to get pregnant I gave it up and wow, I was cranky, tired and had a headache for about three weeks. - Not trying to discourage you Otter, you can do it just keep some tylenol and a big water bottle close by icon_biggrin.gif

Now I have to ask all of you who claim to be addicted to your soda, do/did you heat it in the microwave in the winter? A friend of mine would warm her pepsi on cold mornings. icon_confused.gificon_eek.gif (icon_razz.gif this smiley is the closest to the Mr. Yuck face)

Just here for some daily encouragement! I made it through yesterday with only a few minor slips ups (a couple of last cake scrapes and BC which I then threw in the soapy water, I kinda had some second thoughts, but I am glad I did it now icon_lol.gif . And I ate a couple of fruit snacks. It is hard to open things like that for the kids and not eat a couple of them!) Today I have been excellent on the eating.

I have a couple of summer activities planned with our families that include bathing suits. Goodness I want to loose at least 10 or 15 pounds before then. I think it could be done, but would take much more effort than I have been putting forth recently. OBVIOUSLY since I weigh more than when we started! icon_cry.gif Good luck today everyone. I may actually make it through a no cheat wednesday with out cheating...wild!

O.K Here it is thursday and it's weigh in day.
So I weighed in at 135 today, that's 5 down from last week which was 140.
So i did loose but it was harder than it's ever been for me. I have taken up mowing our huge yard with the push mower for strength and endurance and believe me, my yard is hilly so it's a deff work out for 2 1/2 hours.
Then walking my mile with my 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 year olds is deff a challenge!
But above all my whining and complaining I keep thinking about all of you doing it and how hard it is for each of us to do this. So with that in mind I say,

DIE YOU STINKIN FAT CELLS, D-I-E!!!!!!

And my goals will stay the same really, walk, water, walk, water, walk, water!!!!! Then of course no yucky ol sweet stuff and no fast food! Boy life got hard when I wasn't looking! icon_confused.gifthumbs_up.gif

I was up a pound to 159 this morning. I had two gym workouts this week plus all of my regular walking and on top of that I have been drinking water instead of Coke. I really seem to be having trouble losing any actual weight. Maybe I should go back to not weighing myself and just using dress size as an indicator.

You may very well lost fat but gained muscle which is heavier than fat. I have gone through that and panicked thinking I gained weight when I gained muscle!

Keep those chins up ladies!!!!! We got them ol fat cells running for sure.....yeah, let's throw those fat cells to the sun and melt them away!!!!!

Good morning. So I weighed 152.2 this morning, which I think is the same as last week. But I was up over 154 after the weekend, so at least i lost a little since then. I think these weekends are killing me. I think once I get to my goal weight I can relax a bit, just on the weekends, but for now I think I better start taking it easy. Like I said, we have some events this summer that will require bathing suits and I am a little embarrassed for everyone to see how much weight I have gained. I still have time to loose it though, so that is my goal. Here is my report on goals from the week

I do believe about 2 lbs. was water weight. I was swelling really bad and md put me on a water pill to help and I think that is a big reason for my loss.

I'm down a pound this week. I've cut way back on the snacking, but still haven't been working out. I didn't even get to walk this week, I was too busy being mom and letting the kids have friends over.

I need to improve with my water and my exercise this week. I WANT TO BE A LOSER, TOO!!!

All right. I actually remembered to weigh in on weigh in day this time, even though I didn't want to icon_rolleyes.gif But I maintained this week (at 153) which is ok when I think about all the cookies I ate and I think I only treadmilled once. I soooo need to focus!!!!

Goals -

1. treadmill 5 times
2. water!!
3. no snacking unless it's healthy

Bathing suit season is officially here & we're in the pool everyday from now until August 22nd (when school starts again). If that ain't motivation, I don't know what is!

Those two pounds are back. I'm not too surprised we are going to the coast on Sunday and so I haven't replenished the produce, or much of anything else. Thank heavens it's the Oregon coast and once you hit the water your entire body goes numb right down to your bones icon_eek.gif so swimsuits are not a necessity.
I'm looking at this trip as the jumping off point for some new changes. School will be officially over, this will be our only major vacation and I have a clean slate for my daily activities. Three months should be enough time to get an exercise and diet regimen in order (even for me icon_razz.gif )

I wasn't near as winded nor had near as much muscle soreness or tiredness.
My DH was bragging the last 3 weeks he can do it in 1 1/2 hours and only 2 breaks no prob!
Well guess what...SO CAN I! So huuuuuump!

As for my goals:
1. Journal everything I put in my mouth. - Met
2. Weigh and measure everything. - Yea I met this one also
3. Add in as much exercise as possible. - Didn't meet this one. I have maintained my morning walk but haven't done anything else.

My goals for this week I think I will keep them the same since I did so well.

I have really been good with my afternoon snacking and I know that has really helped. I still have a snack when I get home but am very careful as to what I choose.

It has been such a crazy week here at work and looks like it will be another crazy one tomorrow. So probably won't be one here too much. Hang in there ladies I know we can do this and we will all be LOSERS next week.

Good morning! So I thought maybe we could share a few of our favorite healthy snacks or meals. Sometimes it is the bordom of the eating that drives me to the bad stuff. Here are a few things that I like that sometimes get me though:

These things were suggested snacks in the South Beach Diet that I like:
Sugar free jello-only 10 calories and gets me over needing something sweet sometimes

a wedge of laughing cow cheese on celery. It is found usually near the gormet cheese and comes in a round container. It is similar to cream cheese or another soft cheese. I like this a lot. I like this too because since doing the south beach phase one you really have to eliminate the carbs, so it is nice to have something crunchy.

Mozzeralla cheese sticks

I am also really like shrimp sauteed in a little olive oil and garlic with some of the grated parmesan cheese on top.

for a quick meal I like those morning star brand garden veggie burgers (frozen ones) and I cut it up over a big bowl of salad.

Anyone else care to share a few ideas?

Healthy snacks are what I am really trying to come up with! Snacking kills all hopes of watching what I eat all day long.

1. I love the cheese cubes or cheese spread Merissa mentioned, so good.
2. I grill some chicken breast or bake it in oven with lemon pepper.
I make enough that I'll have it on hand to cut up into strips for snacks or salad toppers.
3. I love sweet tasting apples with peanut butter, no sugar kind.
4. Sugar free and fat free weight watchers Popsicles and pretty much any juice frozen into a pop or a slushy drink for around the pool, you can get the 100 0/0 juice to use.
5. I make home made vegi soup in my crock pot and use this for lunches, with sm. salad and orange or banana.
6. I also take non fat yogurt, they have the sugar free stuff too, as many fruits as I can find and blend into an awesome smoothie. You can add a little artificial sweetener to it if you want. *don't put grapes into your smoothies, they make it grainy tasting*
7.I buy turkey or tofu bacon and make B.L.T.s on whole grain bread toasted!!! Yummy.
These are just a few things right off my head. Actually I also plan my meals out for the day to help with the "wondering around trying to figure out what to eat" snacking.

oh I forgot about smoothies! I used to make those a lot! Yum! If I can make it through these couple first weeks on the SBD (again! LOL) then I can add back in the fruits and I am going to have a smoothie.

another thing I like is coke zero. I try not to drink it too much so it seems like a treat when I am craving something sweet.

I am making my kids chicken nuggets and fries for lunch (I know, not healthy) but my biggest challenge will be not to eat any.

Morning all!

2sdae - Way to go with the lawn mowing! If that isn't a workout, I don't know what is! thumbs_up.gif

I stayed at 178 this week, which actually made me happy because that was with making a cake for DS, and his birthday party with all that food. I even caved, icon_redface.gif several times, icon_redface.gif when those darn leftovers started calling my name. tapedshut.giftapedshut.gif those leftovers.... I did pretty good with the snacking while caking though, made sure I chewed sugar free gum while doing it, cause cake crumbs in gum = yuck. icon_biggrin.gif

Excercise was so-so, cause I got a killer sunburn icon_cry.gif , haven't been able to wear anything that goes on my shoulders all week. Thank goodness I didn't really need to go anywhere. icon_lol.gif Was able to do some laps in the pool a couple days. That cool water sure felt good on the burn... icon_lol.gif

Goals for the week:

1. Get back on track with the food journal.
2. Swim laps at least 3 times this week.
3. Don't let the cake win.

Healthy snacks. This couldn't have come at a better time. I went shopping with DH for our trip and we spent $250 on CRAP! Well we got a lot of meat but the rest was stuff like, pizza pockets, microwave burritos, breakfast sandwiches, oreos, M&M's, crackers and the such. As we are loading all this into the car my lovely husband says "this is how you should be spending all your grocery money." icon_eek.gificon_confused.gif Good lord is it any wonder I weigh 227 lbs. icon_evil.gificon_mad.gificon_evil.gif My hope is he will make himself sick and come home eager to have "real" food again.

Sorry got off on a tangent. icon_redface.gif

So healthy snacks - Smoothies are a biggy for me too. A little nonfat yogurt and milk and a bag of frozen berries and the whole family has a creamy treat. Did I ever tell you what I read about smoothies. If you eat one salad and a mixed fruit smoothy every day you get like 4 of your servings of fruits and vegetables for the day thumbs_up.gif

I also like sugar free jell-o and pudding for a sweet craving or skinny cow icecream bars if you just gotta have icecream (and once a month I find that's just the way things are) Also turkey rollups are a good afternoon snack. Take a LF mozzerella cheese stick, slice it in two the long way and wrap a piece of lunch meat turkey around each (you have to be careful choosing your turkey of course). Almonds are another one. 12 is a serving but they fill you up and are super good for you. And because I love peanut butter almost as much as chocolate, the childhood favorite, celery and PB. You burn more calories chewing the celery than the celery actually has in it so you're only accountable for the PB that you put on it.

This was a good challenge Marissa, I think I'll write some of this down for when we get home so I know what to stock up on, and dh is staying home for that little trip! icon_biggrin.gif

Hi, all!

I don't have any healthy snacks to share. icon_cry.gif As you all know one of my big roblems is not eating during the day so my body has no fuel to burn and wants to hang onto all the calories/fat it can get. I have started eating one pop tart (Just 5 grams of fat) for breakfst just so I have something before I get to work two hours later.

Hubby and I did go to the store after the gym yesterday and buy some fruits and veggies and some snacks. Hubby got soft pretzels at 1 gram of fat per pretzel and some low fat pierogies for a snack at work. We have to work on some breakfast food. We did get meal replacement bars also from the gym. A bit grainy but not bad. Also Hubby went out and got some drinks for replacing the Coca-Cola. It is so nice that he is getting in on this with me. Of course, he is feeling those extra pounds.

Well, going to check the tape measure. I can't trust the scale.
