Does anyone know how to make the stairs on the outside of a cake? I know I have seen several at various sites and thought I had seen some here but cannot find them now (isn't that always the way?).

Here is what I am talking about: http://www.weddingcakewonders.com/Cakes/Gallery.asp?CakeGallery=3

I do not have a particular project in mind right now but would like to try this sometime.

Thanks,
Cindy

p.s. Like cake #315 or 320

I would think that would be fondant or MMF just layered on there to resemble stairs.. Good Luck.

sorry ~ haven't attempted that yet. maybe if you pre-make the steps in gumpaste you can cut/shape the cake so you can just lay the steps in when you're ready for them.

The new Wilton book for 2006 has a Halloween cake with stairs, I think.
