Hey everyone, I am wondering if anyone has a brownie recipe they'd like to share? I am looking for one that is NOT cake-like, more fudgey than cake-like. I am planning to use heart cookie cutters to cut them into heart shapes, so I also would like one that will hold it's shape when cooled. Is there a obvious difference in using cocoa powder vs. chocolate squares??Any suggestions?? Thanks! ![]()
Hi,
Here's the best recipe that I've come accross. I've been making this since I was 15 so....quite a long time. It's nice and fudgy, and I believe that I actually made this, and cut some hearts for a BF when I was a teenager....so yes, it holds.
Brownies
1/2 cup magarine(or butter)
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tps vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup walnuts(optional)
Cream magarine, sugar & 2 eggs until creamy. Add the rest until creamy and cook in 350 oven for about 20 in a 8X8 greased pan
mmmmmmm..
Looks like I have all ingredients on hand.. Thanks for sharing! ![]()
The best brownie recipes on the planet are on www.verybestbaking.com
They even tell you if it is cakey, chewy or fudgey.
I'm drooling just thinking about them!
(By the way Katiedeva...your Avatar picture is wicked!! I'd love that on a t-shirt...or a tattoo, seriously!)

Antonia ~ Thanks for the recipes too! I actually just found the avator in MS Word's clipart!
I really like it too... would make a cute tattoo... but then again I already have 2 that I regret from the year I turned 18 so maybe I should steer clear of tattoos
But a tee shirt or a apron would be super cute. I bet you could enlarge it in MS Word & use a do-it your self printing program that will print pictures out on iron-on patches for shirts, aprons, etc. You can get that stuff at OfficeMax or a place like that... Hmmm.... I might have to do that too! ![]()
(Sorry to get SO off the brownie topic guys, but this is funny!)
It sure is funny!! I made cupcake brownies this weekend for my mil and I used a boxed kind . But I saw this Topic and wanted to see the recipe and this is what I find. Thanks for sharing .
Has anyone ever tried Ina Garten's (The Barefoot Contessa) recipe for "Outrageous Brownies". They are the most decadent brownie I have ever had. I dont know if I can post that recipe here? If I can I will. Fudgy, dense, chocolatey, and lots of nuts (but can be made without them) it makes a BIG batch (12 x 18 pan) but the baked brownies can be frozen! YUMMMMMMM
Try the brownie recipe on the back of the Hershey's Coco can. It's easy and delicious!

Ina Garten's Outrageous Brownies
1 lb. unsalted butter
1 lb plus 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
6 oz. unsweetened chocolate
6 extra large eggs
3 Tbsp. instant coffee powder (I use espresso powder)
2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
2 1/4 Cups sugar
1 1/4 Cup flour, divided
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. kosher salt
3 Cups diced walnuts (can be omitted)
Set oven to 350 degrees and grease and flour a 12 x 18 cake pan (or a commercial 1/2 sheet pan). Baking time is approx 30 minutes
Melt butter, 1 lb chocolate chips and unsweetened chocolate together. Cool slightly. Stir together eggs, coffee, vanilla and sugar. Stir in warm chocolate and cool to room temp. Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add this to the chocolate mixxture. Toss the walnuts and the 2 cups of chocolate chips with flour to coat and add them to the batter. Pour into the prepared pan. Bake. (halfway through the baking time, rap the pan against the oven shelf to allow air to escape
I know.. but it works ) Bake for 30 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE. If you try to test with a toothpick at 30 minutes, the brownies will probably stick to the toothpick and you might think they are not done. They more than likely are done at that point
Take pan out of oven and cool thoroughly. Refridgerate well.. at least 4 hours. Can be refridgerated overnight. Cut into squares.
This is a very chocolatey fudgy brownie.. very very rich. You CAN freeze the leftovers.
crp 7 you can leave it out entirely. The brownies will still be delish!
