The Large Wilton Leveler Rocks!!

Okay. I bought the large Wilton Leveler (the adjustable one) when Hobby Lobby was having their 50% all Wilton products. I didn't realize what a good deal that I had gotten. Hobby Lobby had it marked $4.99, so I paid $2.49 for it plus tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just saw it at Michaels for $21.99!!!!!

I feel like I just won the lottery. I used it for the first time today on my mini wedding cake (in my photos) and it was a HUGE help! I usually just use a bagel knife and eyeball it. This tool makes it SOOO much easier!

I hope you have much more luck with it than I ever had! I hate it! When I've tried to level a cake, the blade will slightly turn upwards and slice right up through the cake.
I ended up making my own large leveler with fishing line!

I agree with jscakes. The leveler does the same thing to me. Does it everytime. Just when you think it's going good it comes right up the middle of your cake. I've even had my DH hold one end of it & I hold the other & it still comes up through the cake. At least you didn't pay the $20, that's good!! Good Luck~

there are threads here where people didnt lke their leveler. i hope you have good luck... i buy pans and tips from wilton. thats about it really....i love their pans.

I do like Wilton's books, cake plates, tips & their featherweight bags but that's about all I buy from them. I use Americolor coloring & Magic Line pans. I think Wilton's pans are too thin. I just like the crisp lines of Magic Line.

I LOVE MY LEVELER!!!! I've never had any issue with it. I've cut 18" right down to 6" cakes without any problems. For someone who can cut or draw a straight line like me it is a god send!

I bought the leveler also 50% off and I just about "chopped" my cake all to pieces. The blade kept wouldn't stay level itself and was horrible. I pulled out my trusty knife. Glad you can use yours. Any advice??

I had the same problem with mine - it would start out straight and then before I knew it start creeping up. I brought mine back and got another one and it seems to work fine.

You got a great deal! I actually paid the full price at Michaels. I have used it several times and love it.

well, I just gently sawed back and forth from the back of the cake towards me. I held it with both hands.....one on each side. I did it very slowly to allow the cake time to react and not to bend or stretch.

I bought the large leveler last time HB had the coupon sale and my blade does not lay flat. It has a slant to it also. I am going to get DH to look at it and see if he can fix it somehow. He is very handy if I can just get the remote out of his hand icon_smile.gif

I bought the small one and it was just ok. I bought the large one and I "love" it. But, I usually have my husband do it because he has it down. There's a trick to it. I'm getting better.
