This is my first time and I already spoiled 4.
I tried letting it dry for 30 min. also dry it with the hair dryer and still it is not peeling off.
Any other ideas?

oooh, don't dry it with a hair dryer...put it into the freezer for a few minutes and then peel the back from the icing and not the other way around. you'll most likely tear the icing when you peel that from the backing. hope this helps! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

you have to let it dry. i hasten the process by putting it into the freezer for a bit and i have never had any problems. the majority of my cakes are done with edible images.

I believe the humidity has something to do with the backing not peeling off. I don't have a/c and the heat this summer melded the frosting to the sheet, impossible to get off....tried the freezer method, didn't work. The last couple of sheets I did, before I printed, I lifted the edge a bit to see if it would peel away. I found only a couple out of the packet that would. The rest of them will have to be tossed out.

i too have the humidity problem, but the trick is to let it dry for a while then put it in the freezer. i've had no problems since.

I had this problem with some really fresh frosting sheets from Kopykake. I e-mailed them and they told me to let it sit out to dry for a bit. They did say to hit it with a blow drier for quicker results. I then take a long cake spatula and get a corner started and slowly and carefully work the spatula around under the sheet until it is lifted completely off the backing. Works like a charm. The secret is getting the corner started slightly.

OMG-I think I just realized I'm completely dumb!!! I used a purchased frosting sheet for the first time a couple of weeks ago and wondered why it was "thick". I never took off a back-didn't even know it had one!!!

I use alot of these sheets and have only had one tear a bit.

What I do is, lift a corner of the sheet only slightly and if it is sticking, turn it around and blowdry on high heat on the back of the sheet for about a minute. Allow it to cool and give it another blow. Once it is cool try lifting it again. If it is still sticking, blow dry again. This should solve the problem. Also, when lifting the sheet off the backing, place your hand gently under and just move it around the sheet to loosen it instead of peeling it off.

I have noticed that the darker the prints, the more difficult it is to get off the backing.

blow-dry=heat...seems like you're defeating the purpose. icon_confused.gif is your setting on cool?

I dont have a printer for the sheets so I have to buy them. What is the trick to getting those off? I wouldn't think they needed to dry if purchased already printed?

Humidity is HORRIBLE!! I decorated some cookies last night using some edible images. I used a sharp paring knife to get the corners peeled back....then I was able to get the printed image off the baking.

I think Kopy Kake also suggests you put the sheets in an oven (low heat) to help dry out the sheets????

Wow guys. I have always popped the image in the freezer for about 5 minutes and when I take it out the image has lifted itself off the paper. I just set it on the cake and give it just a few seconds to warm to room temp and then "squeegie" it down with a spatula, if needed.

I wished I would have known that. I got my sheets from Kopykake, and wasted 4 sheets trying to peel them off. I was so p--. I had to use rice paper that I had. Was not to happy icon_cry.gif So next time I will use all of your suggestions. Thanks for the replies.

The first batch of sheets I bought, were a &^*() to get off the backing, even with putting them in the freezer. The second batch I bought are much dryer and don't even need to be frozen. Weird.

The fresher they are the more moist and harder to remove from the backing. I had ordered a pack from somewhere else (not Kopykake) the first time around and they almost slid off the backing but the rest were no good within a month. They were old. . .

But now,

I have a second problem.
How do you put the image on the cake without breaking?? icon_mad.gif

I've only done one, but it worked great for me. I put it in the freezer for 15-20 min and it popped right for me. I was thrilled with it. I The lady I bought mine off of gave me directions on how to use it. Here's a link to her sight. She's great to work with. http://www.brokenroadfarm.com/Edible_Photos.php
