I need to make a small pillow cake (I'm starting with a 10" square before carving) with a fondant/gumpaste tiara on top BUT the cake is for a 16 year old girl AND her 11 year old sister.

The mom wants the cake to say "happy birthday" with both girls names and their ages somewhere on the cake. I won't have much room on the top since the tiara will be in the middle and there are no "sides" to write on since it's a pillow shape.

I don't want to write all that much on the board so I need some help!

Can anyone think of a super cute way to decorate this cake?

Could you somehow make Gumpaste or somekind of letters, very elegant looking of course, attatch them to 2-3" wires, and line them up along the back of the cake to say "happy birthday"..maybe in a domed shape to match the arch of the tiara...

And then, in front of the tiara, pipe the girls names and ages, on seperate corners??

This is the only thing I could think of!! That's alot of stuff to put on a tiara cake!! I'm not sure if it would take too much attention away from the tiara, but it's just an idea~ Maybe use white floral wire...

Thanks, Sarsi.

Do you think I should make 2 smaller tiaras and put a 16 on one and an 11 on the other and then write their names in front of the tiaras?

Think that's too much tiara?

Then I could still have the "Happy Birthday" standing up like you suggested.

Anyone?

You could do that, but do you think they'd be sitting at an angle on the pillow then...leaning to the two sides, becuase of how you sculpted the pillow??

Hmmm, good point.

I'd have to see what size I could make them where they would still sit on the flat part of the pillow.

what about a gumpaste or fondant *scroll* with the message on it? ties in with the pillow and the tiaras.
