Good morning everyone. I made a cake for my class last night and I did it as a gift box. I used a dow rod to hold up the lid. My problem is it keeps falling and the rod is pulled through the cake. Any advice on how I can avoid this problem in the future? Thanks in advance!
Someone of CC was nice enough to share an idea with me about how to "glue" the dowel to the lid. I actually used two or three long lollipop sticks placed into the bottom cake so the weight was distributed and balanced and then used white chocolate to glue the tops of the sticks to the bottom of the lid cake board. It worked great and travelled great too.

Jen-it sounds like maybe there's not a board under your lid. For next time, that one needs a board too. Good luck on your cake!!
Ok dumb question here but what do you mean by a board under the lid? I made my lid out of cardboard and covered it with fondant. I used dow rods inside it to hold the shape of it.

Place a cake board under the lid. This is What I do for my box lids.
