Patillage is a very sturdy sugar dough. I'm not sure about the other!

i think madeira s a cake, so vanilla is prolly a flavor

Pastillage is used for making anything that needs to be pretty solid so it is good for making structures, like churches or cards for cake toppers. You can make photo frames too, there are cutters to do this, so pastillage is ideal for that kind of thing. You can buy powdered pastillage and add water or you can add 1 teaspoon of gum tragacanth to 500g of sugarpaste to make it more simple. It needs to be stored for at least 12 hours to allow the gum trag to take effect so you'd need to prepare in advance if you wanted to use it.
